jason123: While there are a lot of truth and candor in what you wrote, and while I agree that Igbos should stop investing in core north, I would still not support disorganized and erratic exit from the North. Igbos disengagement from the core north should be a careful and well co-ordinated process to avoid a refugee, and other crisis in the South East. |

Simple issue of competition. If all the competitors are in one town, then there is no money to be made. |

Obi denies plotting to defect to PDP Amid growing speculation of a possible defection from the All Progressives Grand Alliance for to Peoples Democratic Party, Anambra State Governor Peter Obi on Tuesday pledged loyalty to APGA. Obi’s romantic relationship with President Goodluck Jonathan in recent times, particularly during the fuel subsidy removal crisis, has sent tongues wagging that his defection to the PDP was a matter of time. Also, some of the opposition parties in the state have not ceased criticising the governor for allegedly abandoning state matters for regular meetings in Aso Rock. But Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, told our correspondent on Tuesday that Obi had no intention to join the PDP. He said the governor’s support for Jonathan had no political motives. He said, “It is a patriotic duty that he has to perform for Nigeria, which is above partisan or political loyalty. “One thing I want to clear is that he (Obi) is not working with the PDP. He is working with the President. It is just by accident that the President is of the PDP. Were that President belonging to another party, he still would have worked for him. “He is working with the President. If they are angry that he is working for the President of Nigeria, is it the President of Benin Republic that he should be working for? “He has said it repeatedly that he has no plans to join the PDP.” Obi is not only an Honorary Special Adviser to Joanthan on Finance, he is also an active member of the President’s Economic Team. He had during the period of the crisis arising from the withdrawal of subsidy on petrol spent all his time in Abuja with Jonathan until the crisis was resolved. A leader of the Hope Democratic Party in Anambra, Mr. Benjamin Okoye, urged the governor to spend more time in the state to tackle the problems facing the state. Okoye said, “He should stop running to Abuja to salvage another man’s house, when his own house is on fire. We have not conducted the local government election here, doctors are on strike, the water corporation is not working and the minimum wage has not been settled here. “Why does he find it easy to be in Aso Rock where he was not elected to work? Let him sit down here and tackle the problems of infrastructure and low morale among the people.” Okoye said if the governor really had the interest of Anambra State in mind, then he should have long used his Abuja connections to attract projects like the Second Niger Bridge, completion of the Onitsha – Enugu expressway reconstruction and effective tackling of the ravaging erosion in all parts of the state. Those who have frowned on the governor’s shuttles to Abuja have said that considering that the governor’s second and final tenure will soon end, Abuja is the next place he wants to go. They have argued that with the limited sphere of influence of APGA, PDP with its control of the centre is the most likely party that Obi would want to use in actualizing his political ascendancy. http://www.punchng.com/news/obi-denies-plotting-to-defect-to-pdp/ |

@op, this afabricated story. It is meant to creat more gap between the north and east. I think your brother should be greatful to his host for allowing him to do business (armed robbery, kidnapping, 419 etc, who knows) and built a 20m naira mansion. Tell me how many Bauchi indegines you allow in your state to own 1m naira house? |

Obiagu1: My brother, I'm beginning to think that it would be a great business idea to start buying houses from our fleeing Igbo brothers. All I need to do is recruit as much fighters as possible to defend the houses. I can even recruit from almajiri population sef. lol Even some white mecenary folks would happily jump at the opportunity to make money in a place very easy to secure. |

Hypocrisy is one thing that thrives well in nigeria b'cos the hopeless country has some of its founding fathers reeling with ulterior motives that are unpatriotic. Many think that history is about to repeat itself EXACTLY. Think twice 4 we are not daft. Those that are rejoicing in my peoples tears should know that someday, it WILL be their turn. We sought 4 respect of our lives from other nigerians but all they did was 2 kill us more. We fought 4 seccession only 4 these same ppl 2 invite outsiders 2 aid in the destruction of my ppl; forcing them back into 'One Nigeria'. Now & today, they are saying 'you should not have invested here, you should have invested there'. There is a limit men should go with their wickedness. Slavery was eventually stopped in America but after basically the whites, massacred themselves 4 four years. Some peoples story is presently being written. |

Sisi_Kill: apparently you don't understand me everything I do is in a balance. Being objective would make you appear to speak for both sides of the mouth there is way anyone in this world can be unbiased and yet objective. Only Almighty God/Allah can do that If my words don't favour the hausa or yoruba or igbos then sorry. I am a Nigerian first before any ethnic group as a Nairalander once said, being ethnically biased limits one's ability to think forward. That is Alj harem for you |

Re: Igboman, Did You Come To Bauchi With Any Land? by Onlytruth(m): 6:26pm On Feb 01, 2012 |
@alj harem You can twist my message anyhow you want it, you will never be able to change the gist of it, which is that Ndigbo should not run away from their hard earned properties in any part of Nigeria. My message remains that they should DEFEND IT BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY. So, go on with your lies. My people say that ejighi akpata atufuo aba ogaranya -you can never be rich if you keep losing what you have (and probably making up excuses, lol). They should never cede any land they bought with their hard earned money. Period. Now, I would also advise all Igbo would-be buyers of land anywhere outside Igboland, to do an honest introspection and ask themselves some hard questions: WOULD I BE WILLING OR ABLE TO DEFEND THIS LAND IF THE NEED ARISES? If the answer is no, then DON'T BUY. "The future does not belong to the fainthearted. It belongs to the brave" - Ronald Reagan. |
Re: Igboman, Did You Come To Bauchi With Any Land? by Onlytruth(m): 6:36pm On Feb 01, 2012 |
So, here is Onlytruth's land deal economics 101. If I see a piece of land outside Igboland, and it goes for N500K, what is the real cost of that land? Answer: N500K + the cost of defending it = More like N20M or more If I can buy in hectares and sell to my fellow Igbo or whoever is willing to fight in defense of it, who sign an undertaking to be able to send fighters to defend it in times of crisis, then the cost may be lower (after sharing it of course), hence making it affordable for me. Umu Igbo, times has long passed for us to keep thinking in absolute money terms whenever we are thinking of buying land outside our region. You must change your mindset, else the cost may even be your life! Here I stand! Signing off, Yours truly, Onlytruth, ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland, Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. |

ak47mann:look, u can b1tch and scream all u want. Awo starved and killed Igbo ppl (no apologies), Ojukwu killed many more and Gen. Effiong saved the day. That is war, deal with it. You lost . I'm glad u know it was egyptian and russian pilots who roasted Igbo civilians with bombs. In that case, take your whining to the UN and make Egypt and Russia pay for genocide, or isn't that what you okoros call it? If you're so bitter about what happened to your grandparents and parents, do something about it. bunch of pathetic weaklings . |
