How Do I Become A Nigerian Movie Star? by Latoya(f): 1:20pm On Oct 17, 2007 |
hey everyone, I want to know who to get in contact with to be in the nigerian movie industry. I am sick of seeing the same face in all the movies, as well as the same story line. I want Nollywood to take acting to the next level. I am willing to contribute my talent into the industry. I was very challenged and ashamed when i watched a few Ghanian movies. Compared to a nigerian movie it is way better sorry to say. The sound , picture, story line, dressing, cars are more advanced. Please reply to this thread, i have a passion to change the nigerian entertainment industry as there is alot that needs to be done. ![]() 3 Likes |

You cannot change anything as an actress. An actress can only act the roles she is given, whether good or bad. 2 Likes |

Please it is an insult to the word film,to refer to Nigerian drama as films,as far as am concerned it is still Drama, the story line is f******d,the actors and actresses are fake and not real, the storyline does not reflect anything sensible.Imagine somebody waking up from sleep and still has a heavy make up as if she has just taken her birth,it is not dynamic.Imagine write a script on Monday,go to location on tuesday shoot on wednesday and out on thursday,i weep for Nigerian Drama industry. 1 Like |

i beleive actors and actresses have nothing to do to change the face of movies in nollywood, the whole show is in the hands of he producers and directors and above all the story writers. If u want to make a change then look up to belonging to any of these categories especially script writing and production. |

Do you think people like Genevieve Nnaji don't have "attitude and passion"? Attitude and passion don't change nothing. You need to have power and control. ![]() 2 Likes |

Some of you make me laugh. You've no idea how big Nollywood is now. I just returned from Jamaica and I can swear every family there has at least one Nollywood DVD. Same as other Carribean nations like St Lucia, Barbados and Grenada. Even Papua New Guinea! This is why it's called the world's third largest film industry after Hollywood and Bollywood. Nollywood movies have completely transformed the image of Nigerians and Africans in those places. On my Jamaica trip, some openly expressed surprise that we had so many beautiful houses in Nigeria. And well-heeled people. These are things they never knew existed in Africa, owing to pervasive western media misrepresentation of the continent, So on many levels, Nollywood is a big thing. Th rest of Africa was long sewn up. Eki Nigeria is what Ugandans call their number one craze - Nigerian movies. Nollywood stars are household names in all those countries, from Kenya to Zimbabwe, SA to Malawi. The key to appreciating Nollywood is to be a true Nollywood fan - then you get to know the best movies and not simply judge the industry based on a passing acquaintance, from some possibly pirated b rate film you saw at the hairdressers or gym. Sites like www.izognmovies.com are where you can read fan reviews of each movie before watching for a couple of dollars. To the person who said Ghana movies are ''better'' than Nollywood output, YOU especially need to visit that site and educate yourself about the real Nollywood, as you've absolutely no idea what you're talking about. 4 Likes |

i detest one thing in life when you see white and call it black because you have you backups to change peoples mind.do you even look at the demages nollywood dreams has caused to the youth of nigerias who has decided to live a nollywood life , life of fake , get job today buy a hummer jeep tommorow. i have asked so many actors and actress this question , why are still doing the same thing we started some years ago.are we trying to be God who does not change.frankly speaking am ashame of the kind of stories our so called writers write. u can imagine today i become a direcctor tommorrw am a write but in the western world they have like three writers who can work togther and produce something you can called a film.in nigeria every director , producer is a writer then how do we make diference.what is killing us is sharp sharp runs. i watched one nigerian drama i cried, how can everybody become so rich. men: the americans don't do that.lets learn. am a professional writer but i have decided to measure abroad not Nigeria.my scripts are abroad. as a nigerian if isee a serious producer who is ready to make name i will work with him. |

Yea, only the marketers, producers & directors have any real power to change the face of Nigerian films. Yes, they are sold all over the world and the 3rd largest market does not make them good. Nigerians have dis funny idea that if most people buy something, then it is good. Call a blade a blade, brothers: Our films have not passed the elementary stage. The show of beautiful houses and nice cars should not take our minds from the failure to present real art in our storylines, drama and concept. |
