Why Ikemba Eze Igbo Gburugburu, Ojukwu, Should Be Buried In The North by nduchucks: 4:32pm On Feb 09, 2012 |
Most people may not be aware of the fact that the Ojukwu family settles in a town in Niger State back in the 1800's. The entire Ojukwu family including Emeka spoke fluent hausa and Ikemba himself, spoke Yoruba, Ibo, and Hausa very fluently. There is a little known fact that Ojukwu is more fluent in hausa than in Ibo. Ikemba was born and raised in Zungeru and was later sent abroad at At 13, to study in the UK, first at Epsom College and later at Lincoln College, Oxford University, where he earned a Masters degree in history. He returned to colonial Nigeria in 1956. He joined the civil service in Eastern Nigeria as an Administrative Officer at Udi, in present-day Enugu State. In 1957, within months of working with the colonial civil service, he left and joined the military as one of the first and few university graduates to join the army. Shortly thereafter he was posted to the North, his homeland as an Army Officer. For all practical purposes, Ojukwu is a Northerner. IMO he deserves to be buried in his homeland and place of birth - Zungeru, Niger State. It is not enough for the planners of his burial, lead by retired Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, to simply come up with a revised burial ceremony which includes a plan to honour the Ikemba with a ceremony in Zungeru, Niger State, his birth place. I know the bigots among us will never agree to give Ojukwu and others the right to claim their birthplaces as homeland, I'd recommend that thes bigots do the right thing and bury the man in his hometown of Zungeru. Shikena. |

Does it matter where he is to be buried? Where people chose to bury him that's where he will be buried. he can not and can never choose his preferred location or region to be buried. May he rest in peace |

Some of you dummies are consumed by effeminate emotionalism to the extent that you fail to discuss the bigger issue of residency, raised in this thread. Olodos. The man deserves to be buried in his homeland, Zungeru. |

OP and Eze ndigbo Nairaland, I have a different proposal. Given the importance of Malam Abdul-MUMUni Ojuku, the burial should be in phases. He should first be buried for 2 years in Israel the land of his fore father since he is a Jew After 2 years exhumed and taken to Abijan his adopted home and where he ran to Next, exhumed and he should be taken to the headquarters of cross-dressers in the world since he was the first recorded crossdresser After another 2 years taken to the compound of Benjamin Adekunle the man who sent him to exile After another 2 years take him to Zungeru his place of birth After another 2 years dismember him and dump the remains in Atlantic ocean so that the known cannibals wont feast on it Lastly his manhood should be given to Patience where she would make it live on This is my submission |

@POSTER You are entitled to your opinions regardless how goofy they may appear. Igbo do not bury their dead outside their ancestral homes even when born in another city in Igbo land talk less of Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba, Kanuri or Tiv land. |

Somtym I wonder how old ppl who bother to reply such threads are, there is really nuffin to prove to unreasonable ppl learn to look away, its obvious the poster was bored and tot of somtin to entertain him self and started this thread because he knew it wuld lead to tribal bashing and some of u gladly indulge him, some times I wish nl had holographic facilities where ppl culd get to express themselves physically to an extent, then ppl will realise its takes much wisdom to express oneself than just sit and play around with keyboards |
