We're not trying to build a Galatico team like Madrid. We've done it in the past and failed. We're trying to build a team with a strict/solid style of play. We're aspiring to build a team like City's or Liverpool (at their prime). So all these talks about Courtois is pure nonsense.

Secondly, we're trying to build a team with those characteristics you listed above. That's what a gradual rebuild is for. When a large majority of the squad is able to implement the style of play, you'd be surprised as to how the others you've ruled out are actually so important to that system.

My biggest DDG issue is not possession football. Its the fact he is not commanding at all. He doesnt command his box and is usually rooted to his line. He's not great at claiming crosses. All of these put Courtois way ahead of DDG. Onana is also very commanding. In fact there are lots of keepers who are commanding in europe. DDG is not one of them.

If we eventually get a keeper(which I'm certain we won't), I'd prefer Onana because at the moment, he's a better overall GK than Costa, but Costa has the potential to surpass him in 2 years at most and since price is crucial to our transfer plans and we can get Onana for around 20 million cheaper... Why not?
