Tanker Explosion At Mile 2 Kills 30 In Lagos. by alex406(m): 12:07pm On Feb 18, 2012
Multiple reports from around residents of Mile 2 area of Lagos State confirm that a tanker full of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exploded and went up in flames.

The incident, as we learnt, occurred at the early hours of today, Saturday, February 18. We gathered that about 30 people have been feared dead from the explosion. About 40 vehicles were also reportedly touched by the early morning explosion.

According to what Nigeriafilms.com was told, the tanker with registration number XB 370 ATN lost control while ascending Mile 2 bridge and then overturned, pouring its content on the road.

The tanker was reported to have gone up in flames afterwards. Reports say the explosion has caused a serious hold up along that axis.

I have always said it that nigerian roads, and drivers are just a disaster waiting to happen, Today its a tanker loaded with petrol falling inside a pot hole and exploding roasting people alive, tommorow it is a trailer with containers falling in a pothole and the containers crushing innoocent bystanders or commuters. This govt has failed us what a calamity !!

- Govt should stop indirectly killing innocent nigerians by repairing all the roads

-Govt should make a compulsory bi yearly break test for all vehicles before particulars are issued

- Ban all tankers from driving through the inner cities except they are going to deliver fuel. Creat bi passes for them infact relocate all fuel depots to outskirts of the city (the one in apapa is a big head ache)

- Drivers should stop drinking alkohol, smoking weed and driving at break neck speed enough lives has been lost.  angry angry angry

* Not everybody who comes to Nairaland is Nigerian
* Not every Nigerian lives in Nigeria and is conversant with locations
* Not every Nigerian in Nigeria knows that Mile 2 is located in Lagos State
* Lagos State is not the only state with an area called "Mile 2". There's Mile 2 in Rivers State

RIP to all those who lost their lives

If pple should continue to die miserably like this in this cntry it might get to us one day,the other day it was 104 people lost their lives on that road of which I saw them with my own eyes mother carry baby, husband hold wife all burnt together from this same tanker explosion, the question now is: who is next to fall victim? because as long as the road is still very bad, tanker drivers are still malu an the govt does not enact any law to regulate this tankers tanker explosions may not cease our destiny is our hand let's start talking to this nig govt an put tribalism an sentiment away if govt could be negotiating with common boko haram an still issue out #100m for their evil an unreasonable extermination of pple govt should be able to listing to us,tribalism will take us no where!

I can authoritatively states that only 3 (Three) people died in the said incident. I know this because I was physically there. The fire incident happens at exactly 1.24am last Saturday.
The dead are: a boy called Ahmed, sitting on the bonnet of a car where he was smoking india hemp. Another boy sleeping in the front row of a bus and a woman sleeping in a container used to stock smuggled goods. Ahmed was severly burnt to skeleton. Ahmed's body with what remains of the woman and the boy in the bus were removed by the local government council before 5am. In the morning, the burnt stump hand of the woman which was mistakenly left behind was on the floor of the container.
The burnt vehicles were: 12 buses called Hummer used to convey passengers to Delta and Edo States. 5 Lagos State registered commercial buses. 15 various types of cars including space wagons. And 1 Towing van.
