Please nairalanders, I need ur candid advice. I have an offer at a 'strong' old generation bank(not marketing) and I also got an offer from a govt examinations body. I need to make my choice really fast. Please advice. The bank pays 20000 more.

Government job= security

Banks are down-sizing. Take the government job.

The problem is that i have this flair for the corporate world but the manner people are sacked in the banks is a cause for concern. The govt job, especially the exams body is really not my thing but people are really telling me about its security.

If its a first generation bank, Eg First bank only.No cause for alarm. Take the job.
If it is the likes of Union, WEMA or UBA, Then run away as these banks have no job security.

Nairalanders have offered you practical advice, so its up to you to-

1. Consider the offers prayerfully

2. Do a honest self-examination of what you REALLY want i.e.whether your emphasis is on remuneration or security (afterall, you will be the one to take up the offer)

There's nothing 2 get worried abt. 20k is not worth. 8-4(g), 7-7(b), cost of maintenance is higher in d bankin sector, no job security, n many more. So go straight 4 govt!
