Abeg una I need info on how much it will cost to clear a 2000 honda odyssey. The car is inside a shared container, From New York/nj if it matters.

You are welcome to nairaland.I am clearing agent based in Lagos,and i will charge 250k for the odyssey.But you said the car is inside a shared container, which means the whole container has to be cleared all together.If the other people are yet to get an agent, you can give the details of the other cars in the container so that i can charge all together.

I charge based on what you have inside the container.I cant just charge on the container only.Someone can put 4 cars inside a 40ft container while another person can decide to put just 2 cars, so it depends on what you have in the container.Let me know the other cars so that i can charge altogether.

hey man adex, i read one of your post previous that they check the content of containers at the post, why
normally on the document should list everything inside, even here in uk they don't check inside containers, or else they do random thing

The information on the Bill of Lading is not enough for the customs to release the container.They usually examine the container to confirm whether the information on the BOL corresponds with what you have in the container.They call it physical examination.
If they dont do that,no cargo will be impounded in the port.
Sop, your container will be opened in the presence of your agent by the customs, then locked back.
Its no big deal.Except you want to bring in banned goods. .

But do have plans of sending some cars to make some money. But after coming across Nairaland it seems that there are already too many cars in the market. so my question is how can one tell what can move fast in a market flooded with tokumbo cars, do i do brand new, suvs, or what.

You are clearing the container containing three cars, so you pay duty on each car and you will also pay container charges to the shipping company.

2000 Honda Odyssey by RORO is 180k. I cleared 2001 Sienna in a container for 250k, so the Odyssey ahould cost you between 250-300k depending on how you spread the clearing of the other cars.

You just might be that incredibly scarce commodity a person of truth and integrity.

What is the actual % import duty ?? i know that this is determined by engine size, year and finally, actual value.

However, if i bring in a car percieved not be a prestige luxury car, the duty always seems to be a reflection of make, I can buy a chevy impala(2004,3.8v6) for a lot more than a BMW 530( ;D2001), but ill pay a lot more for the BMW. I find customs and the agents are playing a game of misinformation to obtain higher payments by deception.

Finally is a pick up classed as commercial vehicle ? and whats the % duty im lookin at the chevy avalanche.

And finally i no be Oibo or lost son, i am trying to stand up for truth and integrity.
