[b]since the past few years nigeria has been plagued with so many issues that the image of the country has been brought to the ground. from so much corruption to millitancy in the delta to epileptic power supply, dilapidated infrastructure, inflation, and now boko harram.
some of these problems have their roots in history and the country have not been able to find solution to it.


this has made some people (nigerians first and then other people) to develop a negative feeling toward the country.

but the question is, is the greatness of a country measured by the number of challenges it has got, or by its achievements. prior to independence, nigeria had been at the fore front of liberation struggle on the continent and when liberation was achieved, and the continent was faced with a new problem war, nigeria was at the centre of peace keeping. they did this not minding the cost. nigeria continued to send troops even when it is not reasonable in cost.

before now, people do see africa as a 'dark continent' a continent not capable of intellectual ability. They say we do not have a history or culture. It was Nigeria that changed all of that ignorance among non Africans when chinua achebe came up with his ‘things fall apart’ the first African lit of its kind. This helped inspire other Africans to start writing and now we have generations of African writers.

nigerians in all capacity continue to serve africa in so any areas without getting any thing in return.
no african country has ever given nigeria anything yet nigeria has given all to the continent.
and what do we get in return? hatred and disrespect.

nigerians them selves are the ones who are first blinded to their strength than other nationals[/b]
