People stopped contributing because of the poor rates of Treasury Bills, when Treasury Bills go back to 16% I am sure all these discussions about real estate, financial planning, business, crypto, Ponzi, stockmarket, bonds, retirement planning, trading and life in general will stop on this thread

As innocent as this question may seem, knowing your antecedent, I can tell that you see seeking for materials to one day call Emma audio.
You made a failed attempt in the past, I know you are still searching for that loophole.

Everyone here is audio to him and that's triggered by his paranoia and poverty/jealousy mindset, who cares who you are on a faceless forum anyway, be it audio or real, will that add a penny to my acc, contribute positively and allow other do without entitlement or insults.

The guy is a bad omen with his negative energy towards every SEC approved investments. Many contributors have left or changed moniker because some felt unsafe with the way the guy verbally attack them, store up thier personal infos which they might have innocently shared in his brain, will even go as far as digging past posts to score some cheap points.

Do you know Aig's mother and mother-in-law?.

Aig didn’t inherit or make his money from his mother in law. He is a 100% self made man. Infact, don’t be surprised she got that BOI position through Aig.

A retired middle class man made sure his working class son paid rent to him for the 2 bedroom apartment he lived at Surulere Lagos

He said he doesn't need allowance from his son, but the son should pay rents for the space he occupied.

6 years after working the young man wanted to get married and he told his father that he would be moving out to get a bigger accommodation because of pressure from his girlfriend

The father objected to his request, that he must have his own property before moving out to rent a place.

The father said he didnt need his rent, he wanted him to be financially independent and responsible.

He had used the rent paid by him over the past 6 years to buy 2 plots of land for him at a commercially viable area of Ikorodu. The balance of 600k was in a money market fund for him to use whenever he was interested in developing the property.

That was how the young man cancelled the idea of renting a bigger apartment that would have costed him well over N1 million. Used the money and the 600k rent saved by his father to start building his own property.

4 years after marriage he is still a tenant in one of his father's houses.

I asked why he has not moved out but only upgraded from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom apartment, he said maybe after building 4 houses. You know I am the only one in Nigeria, I need to be closer to Baba we lost our mother when I was in the University. This is the time for me and the grandchildren to bond with their grandpa.

May God give us the vision to leave a legacy for our children. May God grant our children the understanding to run with the vision.

They are self made men, but their parents were not poor. The are financially independent and do not request upkeep allowance from their children or grandchildren at old age

Aig's dad was a director at NTA, Peter Atedo's father was a top medical doctor one of the first set of people who invested in his son's bank.

Good education is the primary headstart, which their parents gave to them it gave them experience and exposure

His dad did not work at NTA. Worked in the Ministry of Arts and Culture. And he wasn’t wealthy. Just your average civil servant of those days. As a director, he was comfortable but not wealthy.

At Lazyyouth, you are down playing the importance of having comfortable parents who are financially independent.

When Aig graduated he got a job immediately with GTB as one of the pioneer staff when it was a start up.

He doesn't have to send money to his father and mother, because they were both working and had good jobs with the Federal Government. He was not saddled with the responsibility of training his younger siblings.

When he wanted to get married, he didn't marry from a family that transfer their financial challenges to him and tax the hell out of him. He didn't marry a lady who will take marriage as a poverty alleviation programme.

All these play a major role in accumulating wealth.

Aig did not start from GT Bank. He worked somewhere before joining GT and it wasn’t through his parents’ influence. It was through people he had previously worked with.

Never did I say Aig and Herbert did not come from decent families that gave them a great foundation with a good education. I said they are ‘self made’ men that did not make their money through family inheritance. First generation billionaires.

Aig and Wigwe were not the founders of Access Bank.

Access Bank got into trouble waters, Aig and Wigwe resigned from GTB to buy controlling share in Access Bank, they equally invited Coscharis, Gbenga Oyebode and other notable Nigerians to come on board to recapitalize the bank.

The millions of Naira invested by Aig and Wigwe must have come from some where. As employees of GTB where did they get the fund?

They could afford to get substantial percentage of the fund through careful Investment of their salaries over the years.

These guys lived in Ikoyi. Lagos was the seat of power in the 80s and early 90s.

During IBB era, Civil Servants are the ones doing the jobs. Most top civil servants can't be referred to as average at that time.

A retired judge who worked with Lagos State government has over 40 houses in Lagos. He has just 3 boys. The 3 boys are civil servants in Lagos and have legally grown the family Investments in the last 30 years.

Your education, school, occupation, family background, in-law etc can open doors and give the necessary leverage.

A lot of top civil servants in the 70s and 80s bought shares of major companies for themselves and their children in 1976 during the indigenization policy of Olusegun Obasanjo. Some of those Investments are now worth hundreds of millions if not billions of Naira.

This your looking down on people's hustles is one thing that always tells me how much of a nobody you are.
There are people who have made a living/fortune from uber.
There are mechanics who made a lot of money from the trade.
There are tradesmen/women who became billionaires from trading(I have a very personal example).
There are truck drivers you cannot even stand their successes in a million years.
Etc...
No real man who has been out there and made a name for himself and is succesful looks down on hustles because he himself knows how he/she started and what's in it.
Sounding like the regular kindergarten kid who thinks success comes only when one is seated behind a desk in an air conditioned room,
What a novice!

IBB opened doors for Civil Servants, maybe corruption was liberalised.

Decent senior civil servants between 1970 and 1990 were well paid, the economy was good, exchange rate was good.

You can conveniently take your family on vacation to Europe, from your salary as a civil servant

As a student at UNILAG, Nigeria Airways had an office on campus very close to the main gate

Students can save money from their pocket money and odd jobs to buy air ticket to travel to UK for vacation. It was normal for students to travel to UK to do odd jobs during holidays and bring the money made to school to flex for another session then the cycle will go on again

We pray things gets better, though we might not enjoy such privileges and tranquilty in our life time in Nigeria again. The battle for a better Nigeria is for our children, not for many of us.
