Bro,

You made a very valid point. Holding dollars now seems to be a better investment.

Although i still believe this government can do better than the last government, I do not know if we can see dollar at N900 ever again.

Shebi you dey whine me or your account has been hacked?

If that projection is to be true, that means all the 10 year bonds that were over subscribed the investors did not know what they were doing?

I still believe Tinubu can salvage the situation. This is not a time to play politics but rather to bring in the best brains nigeria has to come up with a solution.

Hehe... u are 3 years late... I remember an article 2 yrs ago that showed the naira had devalued by an average of about 10% yearly (roughly) for over 20yrs...

Its deja vu.. the CBN would soon intervene forcing a strong pullback and the naira with balance for a while before depreciating further (if the right things are not done)

Seen thesame thing play out at 350, 500, 750, and 950
1000 was a tought nut to crack but once broken, I knew further depreciation would be quick and brutal.. sadly, we might inevitably be looking at 1500 if CBN does not jump in soon.

I ask myself, is the current government reaping the results of its own actions or results of action of the past administration?

During the last elections, politicians were recklessly murdering Forex left, right and center, one was even seen online video, on NTA sharing wads of Forex in celebrating their victory. Do you still remember delegates? Ehen sooo....

They don't even believe in naira, kid's education abroad, health abroad. So why should you care about anything relating to local economy?

If you can, it advisable to tilt towards anything relating to Forex such buying and holding, investing in foreign stocks, bonds e.t.c.

Well sha if you still insist on local investment business in Nigeria, almost any business will do because as the devaluation continues, the value in price of the merchandise, or business increases. For example,

1m naira land in 2010 should be worth 5-10m now.

Also
Imagine buying 10,000 cartons of indomine and spaghetti when it was 4,000 naira each

Now selling at 7800

See the profit margin whooping 3800x10000 cartons = 38,000,000 naira!

That's why you hear people that meant well for us crying and appealing for people to start business. U hear people complaining of capital this are the reasons.

Gurus in the house... Can someone buy the NGX30, NGX50 and other indices directly from the stock broker? How does this work in the long term? Are they dividend centric? or just price appreciation.
Thanks in advance

Asked about this recently and it seems there's none.
Generally, this is now the stressfree and dependable route to go. As with time, very few active investors actually beat the underlying index. One doesn't bother about end of year accounts e.t.c. as the market woud do its thing. Its good diversification and one can have exposure to global markets in a proportionate and cheap manner such that your retirement is not dependent on one country or a few companies.

Actually quoted the wrong post by emma , was to be the post on dollars getting to 2k etc , use to think he was anti dollar investment

If anybody by now does not know to have dollar or fcy investments in his portfolio ,he is a novice and does not understand fully the workings of Nigeria but hey we learn everyday , let me also add for business owners that trade in goods , holding non perishable stocks could also be a good a hedge as holding fcy now

As for politicians, the sooner you know they are not there for you and they are not the Calvary coming to rescue you , the better

it would be difficult to trust any nigerian politician if one grew up watching Nigeria super eagles at every competition ( tunisia 1994 and atlanta 1996 outing are exceptions) . All that believe getting drained after disappointment every time, you give yourself brain , no one is coming to save you in this entity called Nigeria, gain knowledge (not talkking about nominal grades e.g first class, etc).

Always follow the money where it treads, Looters saboteurs and financial accomplice of this nation always hide /show their hands with their deck of cards every time in plain sight (no matter how much they flush overseas economy, they still have to traverse the Nigerian economic space).

Study and see through it, do the best you can to be a blessing in your endeavour, then give back to your environ of choice in Nigeria (We start small, we make mistakes, we learn, we get better ) e.g alma mater, place of worship, destitutes, orphanage home (e.g endowment fund to sponsor the institution directly or anonymously. There is always one credible person amongst a bunch of them that can get things done). Pass away to rest with your ancestors knowing you did the little you could in the environment you found yourself.

I can attest to the bolded .A family member during the new dispensation of Buhari had loads of kitchenware (England, chinese dinnerset.) in her store from stocking up during Jonathan era when protest was the order of the day. raked in shyte ton of profit almost 10X of her investment. Knowing parties always happen in this country every friday through sunday. Thinking of borrowing her idea to test out with small amount if this will work again in the next 4-5 years. I have tried to post twice about the SUKUK VI but couldn't because I was attaching a document from the DMO.

SUKUK VI was over Subscribed. They offered N150 Billion but it was subscribed for about N652.827 Billion. So they have decided to allocate N350 Billion to their diverse subscribers. I don't know how they intend to do it, not stated there but the N350 Billion could be collated either on pro rata basis for all or the retail investors could given priority and what's left distributed to the institutional investors as usual.

On the part of the issuer, that's excess of about N200 Billion. I just hope it is well utilised and not squandered/looted.

On the part of the investors, it would be disappointing for some who might have pooled out funds from other existing investments for that purpose.

I don't know what's keeping the agents/arrangers/banks and investment houses from Informing their customers of the out come.

Too much money in this country.

Real sector not stable for investment so everybody is comfortable with the only one that's stable though depreciating, imagine all that surplus chasing dollars now, no change soon. We will keep going down until govt start respecting it's laws by respecting court judgement.
