Hi Experts/Pros, I've been reading from page one and I need to confirm if what I'm assimilating is correct.

Let say I've TB offer of 10% for 91days tenure from my bank (secondary market) and I'm doing N1m. Does it implies that I'll pay 900k at inception and I'll be given N1m TB certificate. At maturity (after 91days) I'll collect my 900k and go home with N20,250 as interest?

Good thing you know your interest wouldn't be 100k.

It would be 25,000 ( I don't know how you got 20,250 though)

So at inception, this 25,000 is discounted from the face value of your investment.
I.e 975k is debited.

On maturity, you'd get 1m credited to your account.

I = PTR/36400 = (1,000,000 * 91 * 10) / 36400 = 25,000

Things like these are why you need to establish lines of credit for your business.

Talk to your banks. Credit cards, overdrafts are some of the quick offers you may get.

I don't know how things are in Ghana, but you could also try microfinance institutions. There are some in Nigeria that'll give you up to NGN 4m within 24 hours.

Reasons like these are also among why you should build good relationship with friends and family. They'd be more likely to come through for you than those of us here.

If people still ask once a while how safe T-bills are, trusting a stranger with their funds may not be very likely.

Have a successful contract execution sir.

If I bidded for myself, I would have lost too, cos I would have done something in the 11.5-11.75 region.

And if you threw in fixed deposit to the equation, the one that Zenith Bank likes to convince their customers to go for (DON'T EVER FALL FOR THIS. IN FACT, AVOID ZENITH BANK WHEN IT COMES TO INVESTMENTS!!!!), fixed deposit will debit you the full amount, and credit you back , at maturity, that full amount PLUS the interest.

So in summary, bonds take the full principal, spread the interest over the tenure, and pays back the full principal at maturity. Tbs gives you interest upfront, and credits you the full principal. Fixed deposit takes all the principal, credits you NOTHING until maturity when you get both the principal and interest all at once.

Spot on! Ever considered a career in teaching? lol.

Pls what are the rates for Wednesday's auctions.
Excerpt from Nairametrics:

The DMO consequently rolled over the total amount of maturing T-bills at slightly lower rates; -10bps and -19bs on the 182- and 364-day bills, while the 91-day bill remained unchanged from previous levels. The stop rates for the 91-, 182- and 364-day bills cleared at 10.00%, 10.40% and 11.30% respectively.

My tbills on Wednesday primary market auction with Stanbic Bank was 10% for 91 days. I’m not really happy with the rate but I can’t complain. smiley

Hello, Goodevening Bosses!!!

Please does anyone know the recent range of Tbills rate for Diamond Bank?? Cos that's my Bank..

Is it adviseable to open a Stanbic account cos of relatively high Tbills rate (frm comments here)??

Let's say i inquire about Tbills rate in Diamond bank, orile branch for example, will the rates be the same in another diamond bank branch at that particular time??

I'd also appreciate a little light on FGN bonds, why is it better or not than Tbills, and how do one go about purchasing them??

Response ll be much appreciated.......Thank you!!

Just Compound your interest and add something to your account yearly, Rinse repeat for some years.

In some years you will reach 50m or close to it.

Laughing here! with right investment mind and God is on your side, 50m is very small for you to have legit and not govt of fraud money. now let me tell you why the person that said if one has 50m, one has nothing doing on nairaland might not be totally wrong. if i have 50m and put it in TB for 364 days @ 12% the return will be 6m fine now play the game on investment on NSE for those who can take the risk like me which have been enjoying, stake 50m in one stock like zenith bank @ #18 cos as the election draws near, stocks prices would be going down due to uncertainty and the believe is election will come and go and naija still remain one. so back to 50m on zenith @ 18 it will give u 2,777,000units after the election and zenith release their finacial result which of couse would be ok, the stock can go to #28 but lets take #25 so 25x2,777,000=69,425,000 now lest say zenith do a dividend of #2.30 x 2,777,000=6,387,100. All together, return on #50m for less than 5month is #25,812,100.

summary

TB 50M(364DAYS)@ 12%=6m

Stock zenith bank less that 5month= #25,812,100

now capital plust gain= 75,812,100. ok

pull it back to TB @12% for 364days when share prices would have gone down. return would be #9,097,452+ 75,812,100=#84,909,552

same stock @18 then u get 4,717,000units by #25= 117,925,000+10,849,100@ # 2.3k div totalling #128,774,100 for period of 2yrs.

so one can generate addditional #78m just in 2 yrs. i choose zenith cos have been investing in the stock for a decade now and no cause for alarm though i do some other stockS like GTB

50m in stocks? lool that person must be worth 10times that in physical cash to mess around Nigerian stocks with 50million.

Everybody now is laughing at 12%

last year when ROI was almost 20%, una no remember stocks o.

Stock is a high risk yielding asset, Playing with it with 50m is playing with fire, except you can stomach losing 50% of 50m in a twinkle of an eye.

Hello all! I'm a spirit member grin ([s]no question[/s]) straight to the point. This is what I got from Access bank. Hope it's a good deal for the Tbill? I'm thinking of the 58days and 8% interest.. and can it be roll over (capital+interest)?
