am jst sadened by the way nigerians are being treated worldwide, my blame is on our shameless and corrupt leaders and the father christmas foreign policy we adopted as a nation, whch tends to benefit our unfriendly neighbours than us individually and collectively as a nation.
The painful truth is dat nigeria hs lost all d respect it had in d past.little nations that can't even match us in might or wealth look at us with grave contempt.
I dnt just knw who to pity;nigerians living abroad amidst all these odds and yet living their dream
or
nigerians @ hme living a nightmare where d basic needs of man (shelter, food and clothing) are stil major problems,nt to talk of respect or dignity 2 human person,
We have a choice, 2 regroup and mk nigeria a better place or 2 keep infesting on pples homes nd keep geting deported for flimsy excuses such as this.

@Nayah, seriously which country will respect another whose leadership or lack of it continue to keep it in jeopardy? The acts of a few is rubbing bad on all of us - Enter Ibori, Alameseigha, Dariye and co. Know their UK stories? How many leaders within the period under consideration can you point to and say same thing about? It makes no sense that while a mjority of our people are in want we have a few people who connive with outsiders to squander our commonwealth living us in limbo.
Well my problem here is on this statement and I ve already stated this before: Why always putting the all blame on the FG? I mean you know what JFK said in Dallas before he died: Instead of asking what the country makes for you, ask yourself what can/did I do for it??, I mean one day we Africans have to learn to be mature, responsible and grown up people, if some Nigerians do some bad reputation and fraud and so on this is Goodluck's fault?? come on this is too easy, and this is the FB which has to tell you that when you finish to eat don't throw the rest on the floor but in the garbage, this is call education my dear, just education and for this any parent is reponsible of that, not the FG

Then my second point would be on the core of this issue which is really an excuse for me, this is not the first time Nigerians are treated badly out there but not at that point, I truly believe that the SA authorities were seaking an excuse to push Nigerian back, because seriously how come a simple yellow card vacination could be the begining of all this mess?? Now to my opinion Nigerians have to ask themsleves good questions about their image instead of just relplying

Because Nigerian lives in south africa is not enough reason to surrender our sovereingty and self esteem to SA , the worst it could be is for SA to deport our citizen while we also flush their gaddem arrsses out our territory, period, tit fot tat people.

Which south africa has laws? It is the same SA that is the crime capital of the world. Where a violation incident happens in every 10 minutes Spare us this useless rhetoric. I am sure it is backward people like you that will gladly be happy when SA immigration dehumanizes and insults your mother as long as you are stamped in. As for fake documents, SA immigration is as corrupt as their Nigerian counterpart. The issue here is not so much as fake documents but the motive. Since you are so dumb to comprehend what is going on, I suggest you approach a more intelligent Nigerian who can break it down for you, gently

Even as the crime capital of the world Nigerians are flocking there like refugees. Go figure. grin

Nigerians should obey the law FIRST and then protest legitimately. The issue of fake documents is too prevalent in Nigeria. That SA is 'as corrupt' doesn't mean that people with fake documents should be let in.

I've not seen one report YET that verifies that the Yellow Fever documents were indeed original/valid. All we're getting is blustering from some idiots in government.

wow cheesy and you read all that garbage and responded? Take a chill pill man the issue ain't with Zuma, Iraqis and Amigos but Nigerians . No one is saying the South Africans couldn't have handle things differently but the question is why arm them with a reason to treat your people with disdain? Nigeria is not the only corrupt country in the world but it doesn't affect me if Saddam and co decides to sell off their country but what the Iboris and co do does affect me, kapish? Besides, it doesn't make corruption acceptable because other leaders loot their nations dry. People won't respect you if you don't first, respect yourself.

What are you on about? Is there any corruption free country in the world? How does that connect to how people are treated. You are still repeating the same garbage. India and China are about the most corrupt countries in the world. They are the ogas of 419 and Internet fraud. Have you seen anyone disrespecting their citizens? If you dont love yourself man, then you are doomed. Stop hating yourself! It sucks. Nigeria is in a bad condition but that does not mean we are animals and no one should treat us as such. This kind of mentality you lot show here is the kind that makes us worship even lebanese, Indians and Chinese people right here in our country. On Tuesday, the health minister said SA should not demand for yellow card because Nigeria has been certified free of yellow fever. Is he aware that Nigerians need yellow card to go to neighboring Ghana? Most passengers of luxury buses buy this at the bus park yet they forgot that the manufacturer and batch no of vaccine on the centre page of the document is verifiable by the authorities.

The day the Ghana authority will use this to embarrass our citizens (in pursuance of hidden diplomatic interest),we will start shouting again.

For those salivating over possible take-over of south African business interest in case of break of diplomatic relation, pls wake up. It does not work like that. When Nigeria broke diplomatic relation with France and isreal in the sixties, their companies still continued in Nigeria. Even the diplomatic spat with britain that led to recall of high commissioners of both countries in 1976 and 1984 still left their economic interests intact.

Good question. These are issues a well-informed and proifessional foreign affairs minster/ambsador should cover - bilaterally this should have been pointed clearly that Nigeria is Yellow Fever free! But we have chosen to give patronage to friends with no capaity for the job and whose only interest is in the office. Now is the time to ask what these ambasadors and foregin reps do instead of beating our chest as giant of nothing.

Any one with clearly understanding of diplomacy would question how a country certified free of yellow fever by a renown WHO didn't take proper steps/went to sleep >: on an issue that should have been enshrined in bilateral agreements. Yellow fever card is required from us in Ghana, oga minister oya over to you.

We are so quick to agree we are corrupt like other countries are inmune to corruption. Yes we have bad leadership, that doesn't give any mudaphuker the right to maltreate us. You seem lost in self bravado. I can't save you if you cant understand and resort to repeat response that are offline. What you should ask yourself is would the South Africans have deported them if it wasn't all-too eveident at Murtala International that anyone could put down 2,500 Naira  right in front of the SAA staff and board a plane to SA. And this on a matter that they have previously complained about to the government. Keep hiding your head in the sand and behave like it doesn't happen. I have pointed the way to the solution and what every concerned Nigerian should be demanding: We got clearance from WHO in 1995 and were certified clean of Yellow Fever, why on earth was it not scripted in our Bilateral relations with SA? Make you dey there dey argue about who corrupt pass as is that one naim affect me as a Nigerian.

First of all, I did not say all our problem is caused by our political class even though they contribute to well over 80% of it. You can not also say the good things hapening to the economy of S.A now is aa a result of the "hard work" of their citizenry. Good leadership always has a role to play in economic advancement. The issue here is very simple; Nigerians were maltreated in SA which is very wrong considering the contribution of our people to their economy (Which you so believe is "da boom"!). So we should just fold our hands and sit down here because we have challenges facing us which like you said "Is more important than this". If that is what you are implying then I pity for Nigeria embarassed embarassed

That is funny, so the S.Africans just happened to have had the wonderful fortune of good leadership to guide them, eh?. Their efforts in building world class companies and industries do not count? Not far from this kind of "logic" lies the thought that without Nigeria, S.A would be groping beggars, that Nigerians there are the reasons for their success. I personally think this is that feeling of inflated self importance that prompts this kind of reasoning.

Anyways have you stopped to think why we having this standoff now? Is this the first time Nigerians have been deported from other countries and how come we are suddenly filled with righteous rage in this instance?

So how did they know they are fake? Did you not hear that two brothers were there and one was allowed to go in and the other was deported even when they both obtained their yellow cards from the same place at the same time?

Many of you just come here and display your inferiority complex. You are a CAPITAL I.DIO.T. I have to repeat that again. I have been to SA twice and I know the place. Their leadership is not better than Nigeria's leadership. Jacob Zuma, their current president is a criminal who manipulated the political and judicial system to become the president of SA. He has so many concubines lurking around him. Julius Malema, the ANC youth leader is a know racist that is always talking garbage and it is his comment that helped fuel the last xenophobic attacks that was metted on many Africans, not just Nigerians. South Africa has the highest r.a.p!e incidence in the world, about the highest HIV rate in the world. So bad that the average South African believes that if you sleep with a virgin, you will be cured of HIV.

The only reason South Africa is better than Nigeria economically and in infrastructure is because the whites built the place before they handed over power. Since the black leadership took over, they have been messing the place up. The luck they have is that the whites still control the major businesses there. If you leave it to the blacks, the place will become a shyte hole in less than 5 years. So dont tell me what you dont know. I was standing by the roadside in Joburg when some black boys were shooting sporadically in broad daylight unchallenged. They even have these zones where blacks know their boundaries and whites know their boundaries.

Nigeria fought for their independence with sweat and blood and hard cash. We deserve their absolute respect. I dont know what some of you call overbloated importance! We have too many i.di.ots here on NL. Nigeria is the most important black nation. current statistics says 2 of every 5 black man is a Nigerian. Stop talking garbage! My ghanian friend in Zurich has been asking me how he can get a Nigerian passport and I was suprised and asked him why. He told me the only black peeps the whites fear and respect are Nigerians. that no one messes with a Nigerian. Give us our respect!

I didn't say anything like that but I think before acting we need to analyse things, because I'm convinced that this yellow card is just the visible part of the Iceberg, SA have always wanted to push Nigerians back home, and I know what I'm saying brother because I know many Nigerians who told me that they were victims of xenophobia and that they were viewed as criminals, scammers and all this useless generalization and my opinion is this yellow card was an "opportunity" for them

Plus other countries like Ivory COast, Gabon, Ecuatorial Guinea, Senegal, Ghana are complaining about some Nigerians, even though I think this is a mistake to generalize, I think Nigerian people should take this in account that their image is tarnished and try to reverse the trend, and the FB won't be able to help people in everything if some are not educated, because when someone commit illegal acts he's responsible you can't blame all the time FG for your own fault

PRETORIA, South Africa — South Africa has apologized for a mass deportation of Nigerians, saying officials at Johannesburg’s main airport did not properly check their health certificates. At a news conference in Pretoria Thursday, deputy foreign minister Ibrahim Ibrahim said: “We wish to humbly apologize to them, and we have
Two diplomats from the Nigerian High Commission accompanied Ibrahim to the news conference, but refused to comment beyond a joint statement that described Bosom-for-tat deportations the two countries say should not affect their relations.

On March 2, South Africa deported 125 Nigerians who, according to airport health authorities, carried fraudulent yellow fever cards. Since then, authorities in Lagos have deported South Africans, raising health concerns.
