Long post alert!

I need suggestions please
I have a pregnant cousin, we are both students and we just started this semester's exams.
Her husband stays in a different state so am the only one she has here.

Her EDD was yesterday, both LMP and first scan, thank God say she no born yesterday o because we write exam that yesterday tongue.
As we were getting set yesterday morning for the exam, na so her belle just dey riot, dey change shape anyhow (braxton Hicks), we were both scared oo, we just dey beg God say make that yesterday's exam no cast angry and God answered kiss
Besides, we were soo unprepared, it was just yesterday that we washed the baby's clothes and packed her bag.

Our next exam is on Monday, then wednesday,
and after that, we would be given a short easter break (4 days). The moment we return from easter break, we will write the remaining courses at a stretch, no breathing space.

Is there something we can do to bring on labour? (No kpekus in town, no stairs around)
At least from now till easter, because after that, e no go funny at all embarassed

Again, she registered in a general hospital far from our campus(like 20-25 minutes with shuttle or bike). She doesn't know what a contraction feels like, she never experienced period cramps, that would have been a pointer. Now when she is complaining of waist pain, I no know wetin dey happen embarassed. Bikonu when do we know its time to leave for the hospital?

NB: she is a first time mum, me self never marry, two naive souls, double wahala
And mum said she is not coming till she puts to bed

Please for those of us in 37/38 weeks, please did you guys experience this painful cramps? From way below my belle, i experienced this contraction that wants to tear my pelvis. Like a strong pull down there.

I had it all thru last night, comes and go. I only slept when it stopped and i wake immediately it starts, all thru last night o and continued all thru today, couldn't sleep. Although it got better this afternoon but immediately i cooked, it came back.

I complained about my spotting to my gynae on Tuesday , after all, he said i was ok and it is to be expected. Although it stopped sha and i think i saw it again yesterday but he said i should come running if i start leaking water or see bright red blood.

Please answer o. I beg you

Teamie,going thru d same thing oo without spotting tho. Mine gets so painful dat I won't be able to do anything dat period. I complained at my last Anc cos I can't remember having it dis painful with my other children. My doctor said baby is preparing to come but no one knows aw soon. Dat am aving pre-Labour contractions and I should let him know if it gets worse or if i see d bloody show(my water doesn't burst on its own,dey av to break it wen am about to push).

It is not even consistent. Sometimes 15mins apart, sometimes hours apart, sometimes 20 sef and pain isn't increasing.

Is this what they call Braxton Hicks?
Braxton hick is not painful its more like a dull pressure on your abdomen.

I believe you need to see your doctor just to be on the safe side if it persist.

Good morning mamas. pls help me explain this cos I don't understand it.
It was last night when I started feeling a kind of menstrual cramps in my pelvic,followed with lower backache and tightening around my abdomen. Whenever my abdomen becomes tight and hard,the menstrual cramps and backache kicks in,making me so uncomfortable. It comes and go but sometimes last long before going again.The cramp doesn't increase but it seem like it coming and going almost every 5mins. Is braxon hicks supposed to come along with menstrual cramp?
Sometimes, it feels like am about to pee my pant( like when something wants to drop but goes back inside).
We are 29weeks today, and my next appointment is till next week Saturday. Pls mamas advice me on what to do cause am not enjoying the pains at all.
The funny part is after the whole thing stops,I feel like baby is dancing and jumping with strong kicks and jabs in my stomach.

Pls visit d hospital ASAP. Happened to me at 24weeks and it turned out dat I was having pre-term contractions which was already working on my cervix. Was placed on bed rest and pelvic rest with ssome drugs and I got better. It might be something or nothing to bother urself about but see a doctor to be on a safe side.

Fiducia, she needs to time the waist pain. If it's regular and 10 mins apart, she will need to go to the hospital.
If the pain is increasing in intensity then she needs to go to the hospital.
Since she's already 40weeks now, baby will come anytime soon. All the best

Aspirin in Pregnancy

Aspirin prescription antenatally:

You need to be on aspirin 75mg (baby aspirin) once a day from 12 weeks till delivery if you have one of the following:
1. Previous history of pregnancy induced hypertension (PET)
2. essential hypertension (pre existing high blood pressure )
3. Type 1&2 diabetes mellitus
4. Chronic renal disease ( ongoing kidney probs)
5. Systemic lupus erythematosus / anti phospholipid syndrome

You need to be on aspirin 75mg (baby aspirin) once a day from 12 weeks till delivery if you have two or more of the following:

1. Primigravida ( first pregnancy )
2. At or over 40 year old and pregnant
3. Pregnancy interval of at or more than 10 years
4. BMI of at and more than 35 ( bmi : body mass index) **
4. Family history of pregnancy induced hypertension (PET)
5. Multiple gestation ( multiple pregnancy / eg twins or triplets pregnancy )

**BMI : kg/m2, resulting from mass in kilogramsand height in metres.

Please mamas, I have a question o. I am due for TT4 injection on 27th of march and I heard once a dose is missed, one will have to restart the dose. Now, after taking TT4, will I still need booster dose in this pregnancy?
Its kind of confusing, pls don't jump and pass. l need clarification.

HOW OFTEN DO I CHANGE A DIAPER?

★★REASONS TO CHANGE SOILED DIAPERS INCLUDE:
√Irritation of the skin leading to nappy rash
√Infections especially in baby girls
√Allergies
√Leaking of poo or urine

Newborns under a month need to have at least 4 to 6 wet diapers every day. On the other hand, newborns will likely have diaper change of poo at least three to four times a day, but it's not unusual for parents to change at least 10 soiled or wet diapers daily during the first month.

Newborns are expected to urinate about 20 times a day for the first several months of their lives and it would be tiring and expensive trying to change baby’s diaper every time. Moreover, it is not compulsory to wake a baby to change a wet diaper as it's just urine.

HELPFUL Tips:

★Wash your hands after changing the diaper. A bottle of hand sanitizer where you change baby's diaper is a great way to do this without having to leave your baby unattended.

★Do not baby powder when you change diaper.

★Fold down the front of the diaper so that it does not rub against the umbilical cord if you are not using the special newborn diapers.

★Give baby something to hold as he/she gets older to help distract them from interfering with the process.

★When changing little boys, it is best to use some sort of “shield” to protect your baby from accidentally 'spraying' your face or mouth.

★Be patient. Many times babies can sense fear and will follow your lead.

★★Don’t worry. It will get easier. You will be an expert in no time.

How many diapers a day does a baby use is a kind of question that will have varied answers. Factors such as the frequency of feeding, what is being fed, etc. will determine how many times your baby pee or poop.
