I was wondering if there are people out there who are passionate about seeing cartoons and animations come from Africa more. We have so many folktales and stories that are waiting to be seen by many around the world. Even all those stories we grew up need need to be brought to life and what better way than to have african animators do the job.

I was thinking of say animators competition where we have individual/organizations in africa compete by not only putting together, say a 10 minute story and animating it but basically making sure it is linked to africa in all ways and not just copying of already available stories out there. I believe we can have our own disney in Africa. What say you all??

There are lots of talented artists on this board, but to get them to spend their time in cartoons and animation, you need money. And I mean lots of money, because they are all smart people with good job prospects outside the cartoon industry. You'll need to start a corporation with fancy buildings their families can be proud of

Just a competition is all. Sure there would be money involved but this would be more to encourage all growing cartoonists and animators to come out and play around with their skills for a price. I mean 1 million naira or 2 would do the trick, a couple of prices, like a mac machine equipped with software will lure them out of hiding. I am speaking more of kids and people out there who are trying to get their face out there but have had no avenue through which to do so. a competition will not only put them out there but place their skills where companies can look to see there ability and go from there with it. We can have our own DREAMWORKS AFRICA if we wanted to with that.

It could even be sponsored by Nairaland folks.
