[quote author=bookface] If anyone stand a chance of surviving of the two, I'd stake a bet the person is D'banj! D'banj is and has always been the 'product' that the market knows, accepts and pays for. Don jazzy may be a great producer, but then again, being a producer takes skills that can be developed by anyone, being a great artiste on the other hand is a God given talent, you are either one or you forget it and devote your life to something less enthralling like being a mathematician or a medical doctor. Summary: Don Jazzy is replaceable, infact, thousands of people can be a Don Jazzy. . .D'banj is not! and the people want to listen to D'banj! are you so shallow and dim-witted? Do you think one cannot be a genius as a music producer? Maybe it was because d'banj co-owned Mo Hits with don j that's why all the focus was on him, dr sid and wande coal are better artistes than d'banj. If half the efforts on d'banj was put on WC, mo hits would've made far more than what they have. All-in-all, i wish d'banj well, it's his decision, i also wish don jazzy well, he should focus on what he knows iow to do best - make good beats cause he's just like dre. Any artist that sings to his beats will do great. It's all in the BEATS 1 Like |

This is how it goes Music producer and artiste, Mciahel Collins aka Don Jazzy, on Saturday confirmed his split with his fellow Dapo Oyebanjo aka Dbanj. He described the development as “sad but true.” There had been reports that the two friends had parted ways over some issues, especially Dbanj’s collaboration with American R&B star, Kanye West, and his label, G.O.O.D Music. It so sad |
Re: Don Jazzy Confirms Mo'hits Rumour by pheesayor(m): 8:30pm On Mar 17, 2012 |
Don Jazzy was concerned about the masses, Dbanj was concerned about his ego. Do you all wonder why Wande Coal's new singles sounded whack? Don J spent only two days working on those songs wasting all the time on Dbanj. As for the kanye signing, it favors Don J more cos he was signed as a producer and has already co-produced already for GOOD music already. Don Jazzy is the secret behind Dbanj's success, even a blind man will see that. Don J was JJC's co-producer before they came to Nigeria to take advantage of the Nigerian market. DBanj is nothing without Don J, let's see how they survive apart but y'all should know Don J was the one who left their mansion and who says Dbanj has more money? Cos he said he owns mo hits and Don J is is his artiste?? Think well, look at their roles and see who earns more. Unless he gets someone as good as Don J, Dbanj is finished, you can boiokmark my post for future reference |

If I can still remember clearly, Dbanj that I watched way back 2004/2005 was just a small flute guy with the 419 squad having Kunle and Queen back in the UkM Then I later heard one Don-Jazzy from USA took him away, signed him on, polished him and came out with the Hit Tongolo. So I find it difficult to believe that Don-Jazzy will 'suffer'. Have we not heard Wande Coal and Dr Sid releasing hit songs??is that not Don-Jazzy's 'efforts'?? And I just remembered Dbank had issues with Mike Adenuga that made the man angry and whittled-down his Glo Ambassador contract, because Dbanj became pompous..so what do I need to see that Dbanj is not the one screwing up the business relationship?? |

Many have been saying Sci-banj would survive the breakup but i doubt it. The fuel subsidy imbroglio is still dangling over his head. Doubt if he has performed in naija since then. As Don jizzy, he still has at least two great singers to work with(D prince and Wandy coal and maybe Dr Sid). I guess its time he brings out the best in wandy now that sci-banj(like his Jamaicans call him) is gone. Lastly,i think some of the fuel subsidy causes are now yielding something(sorry to say this but its true) |

bookface: From your point of view i'd say you don't know alot about music as a business and form of entertainment, Being a producer is not a skill that can be developed by anyone, Its like saying anyone can become a doctor or an engineer, Check Don jazzy musical background and you would understand why his sound is different from other producers.what makes dbanj's music different from other naija acts is Don jazzys production which is the reason Don Jazzy didnt work with loads of other artist cos trust me the offers were coming.. Now as for Dbanj's talent being a gift from God i don't know how you came about that cos Dbanj is not the most lyrically talented or vocally gifted artist so im not sure what gift ur on about, don't get me wrong im not saying is wack but his type of music relies on the production effort and stage presence, think about it, Try listening to the acapella version of Oliver twist and you would understand what im saying. in my opinion Don Jazzy was the reason mo-hits got the GOOD MUSIC deal, Since that deal Don Jazzy has worked on a few tracks with kanye and Beyonce, i have not heard the Beyonce, do your research and find out how many producers and artist are currently signed to GOOD MUSIC including KID CUDI/ ONE HALF OF THE CLIPSE/ COMMON and recently MANNIE FRESH. Im not trying to down dbanjs music but honestly we all know kanye west has no business with dbanjs form of art. Now if you ask me both Don jazzy and Dbanj would do very well due to their fan base and popularity, the ones we should bother about are the Mohits house boys like Dr SID. |

bittyend: So, what will happen to all the kokolets, huh? Don Jazzy needs to pass them to me.. You need to stop sounding like a very bitter akata chuvinist male. I don't know what is wrong with Nigerian young adults of nowadays. Many Nigerians under age 40 these days feel the need to act like an akata and its just disgusting. This is why Nigeria has a problem progressing because instead of emulating the few good things about the american/western culture such as good governance for instance, we are busy emulating ghetto akatas as if that will get us anywhere as a people. Even american society ignores these set of people. Next time, if you want to use extremely foul language and condescending terms for your race such as 'nappy head' just to bring your point across, kindly go to an akata forum or better still, go to stormfront where the skin heads will be all to happy to verbally roast your type alive. I'm outta here! |
