All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.

Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by Mcleo007(m): 11:56pm On Mar 17, 2012
I think its wrong. The 'all' presupposes that the equipment mentioned is more than one. Hence, the use of 'equipments' seem appropriate. But then, is there a plural for the word equipment ending with a 's'? Let me consult my dictionary.

Nothing is wrong with the grammar
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by yamakuza: 4:25am On Mar 18, 2012
6 months, not month.

Equipment is an Uncountable Noun, and has no plural form.

6month is correct. He said *a* 6 month.

Lord_Reed: All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.

Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?

It depends on what you are trying to say.

1. All equipment have a (6)six-month manufacturer's warranty.

2. All our equipment have a (6)six-month warranty.

These two expressions are better in my opinion (grammatically). Remember, warranties have legal connotations as well, you might want to consider that in your analysis.

Lord_Reed: All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.

Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?

If the notion of 'all our equipment' denotes a single collective concept, then a singular verb 'has' instead of 'have' should have been more appropriate. Semantically, i think the sentence is correct.
I stand to be corrected though

Funny but true. We are too good at putting foreign languages first.

TRY SPEAKING THE SENTENCE. Change the "HAVE" TO "HAS". Thank you.
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by Yeske2(m): 10:56am On Mar 18, 2012
Equipment should go for second person singular-- it-- but 'all our' is third person plural--they-- . So the sentence is wrong IMHO.
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by Eltonluigi(m): 10:57am On Mar 18, 2012
In plain and simple english; All our equipment come with a six (6) month warranty.

The sentence seems prim and proper to me. I also see no reason to water down the grammatical structure employed in the construction. Oga, carry go, jare

The sentence is PERFECTLY Okay.
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by francis247(m): 11:42am On Mar 18, 2012
'a six month' is correct. It's just like saying 'a six day power packed crusade'. So long as there is the indefinate article 'a', using the plural form of 'month' will grammatically and semantically alter the meaning of the sentence. Without it, six months would be correct; so nothing is wrong with the sentence.

in dis context,its '6-month',and not '6 months'. A 6-month warranty.
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by joudini(m): 11:46am On Mar 18, 2012
Its just semantics. I think it would be precise and less ambiguous if you say 'All our equipment carry a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty'

0. Lord_Reed(m):
All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.

Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?

Well it depends. If all your equipment were made by the same manufacturer, then it's okay.

However, if they were made by different manufacturers, then your sentence should be " All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturers' warranty".

Just my two cents. Ciao

I think I'll go with the first. The warranty does not originate with us.
