ndu_chucks: "Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala could be the next female President of the world bank. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that several countries will nominate her for the position. The role of the President of the World Bank has traditionally gone to an American. God Bless Nigeria. The ones I've bolded don't deserve too be Nigerian. They're too busy wishing they were "Biafrans". Useless people. |
Re: CNN Praises Nigeria As Ngozi Makes Us Proud by Nebeuwa(m): 1:55pm On Mar 23, 2012 |
I am proud of her and what she represents to millions of black women. If she does attain this position at the World Bank, just think of the impact this would have on not only Nigerian young women, but millions of black women that reside in Africa and in the diaspora. When I finally settle down and have children with my future wife, I can show my daughters that black women are able to accomplish many feats. That is why it matters if Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala becomes the president of the World Bank, because of the SYMBOLISM she would represent. This goes way beyond, her actual responsibilities if she is chosen to become the president of that international organization. |

I think people are missing the point. It doesn't matter whether she gets the position or not (ofcourse it will be great if she gets it), the most important thing is that with all the bad publicity Nigeria gets, we have someone as credible as Ms Iweala. We should all be proud of her. Jubilate if you want. At least for once the story is not about Boko Haram or corruption. Celebrate little victories and big once will come. |

I live my whole life nearly with igbo pple both in my schools and my current place of work, I know how thay behave in supporting each other over issues. 90% of them behave the same way while just 10% behave normally and don't really care about tribe or no tribe. The common man may also be encouraged to send his girl child to school instead of making her a kitchen-help. The White House on today named Jim Yong Kim, the president of Dartmouth College and a global health expert, as its nominee to lead the World Bank. Jim Yong Kim is an anthropologist and a physician whose name was not among those widely bandied about since Mr. Zoellick announced his plans to move on last month. President Obama's choice enables a soft landing for the whitehouse. World leaders have been talking about choosing the World Bank's new president based on merit, so the choice of Jim Yong Kim, makes it more than 98% likely that Ngozi will be the next World Bank President. Kim is no match for Ngozi where merits and banking experience is concerned. Carry go Obama, nobody go blame you if dem no select Kim; as a matter of fact, oyibo dem no go vex too much since Jim Yong Kim sef na chinko. ![]() |

We all have our special place in this world. When it comes to World Bank, this is Ngozi's spot. Nigeria is not the best place for her to display her experience. |

onyewec3: If you don't want people who care so much about you to mourn over you, just leave my parents out of this. If you have anything good to say, face me ok. I don't insult people as much as I don't want it. Pls I beg of you stop this silly insults. I don't care if your aunty ngo emerge as WB president or not. What I can say so far is that she self-centered, loathsome, egoistic and and operate a forceful policy. Her collaboration with hopeless Nigerian leaders so far has earned her mass hatred nation wide. So if you have anything to say to defend her, let's hear you out and stop mentioning my parents. Gbammm over and out |

onyewec3: All my life I have lived to appreciate good things and wonderful people and not Nigerian leaders who hide under the atmosphere of holiness to operate. I don't buy your idea of handworking and good profile, if I'd appreciate people who are hardworking, I will appreciate little kids who hawk in traffic to make both ends meet rather than some useless Nigerian leaders. On the other hand, if I'd appreciate people with good profile, I think I will appreciate some wonderful men of God across the world. Good profile is not all about academic prowess nor years of education spents in Harvard University. It's not all about forcing people to believe you at all cost. It's all about the fear of God and your impact to remould lives. Peole don't fight for good profile, good profile is determined through personal behavious. Gbammm over and out |

Some people are just fools and they will continue to be fools forever. Nobody can preach the gospel of NOI's service to humanity to me in the name of tribalism. She has failed the tribe she hails from and Nigerians as a whole as much as Obasanjo failed the yorubas and Nigerians and Babangida failed the hausas and Nigerians inluding others. No difference but I wonder why many cannot see this. Her collaboratin in the forceful policy of hopeless with Nigerian leaders will continue to stand against her if she refuse to change from supporting the helpless and hopeless Nigerian Govt rather supporting the masses. Re: CNN Praises Nigeria As Ngozi Makes Us Proud by Nobody: 1:01am On Mar 24, 2012 |
kettykin: @ BayoooNo one says NOI is not qualified or denying the fact that she may even be more qualified than the candidate that will get the job. It will equally amount to exaggeration to generalize and say she is the best economist the world over. That's a pure lie. The simple truth : She can not get it without American endorsement and since US is nominating a different candidate, she does not even stand a chance. Besides, it will amount to political suicide for Obama to allow such a strategic position that has always been occupied by Americans slip away ( in an election year). Besides, it does not add any value to Nigeria other than a symbolic image that our daughter is leading such an organisation. Nigeria does not have the capacity to change the world economic dynamics. |

Technically, she has only been back about 8 months. Granted the revelations of how out of touch our so-called ministers are with the condition of living for average Nigerians, I think she still has some time to turn things around. I don'y know about failing her tribe there considering she is just a woman pursuing her own dreams, and not some messiah or leader for any one tribe in that nation. we need to ease off that whole 'na my tribe im belong' nonsense, and that 'she is a nigerian so she is me' crap. Her tribe did not pay her school fees, neither did nigeria. |
