1. Is organized labour (being civil service) allowed to openly campaign for a particular candidate of a political perty?

2. Isn't organized labour supposed to create a level playing field for all of the candidates in the forth coming election?

3. It is our thinking that NLC & TUC as pressure groups should partner with civil society to monitor the elections. What this out means is that no civil servant in Edo State can serve as an INEC official in the coming elections.

4. NLC & TUC said it is compulsory for it affiliate bodies to mobilize their members for this mass rally. Does that not bother on under arm tactics and subtle threat to participate in an obvious political outing?

5. IS it not possible for the workers in Edo State to have their own individual preference for any other candidate who they should be free to vote for on election day?

6. Suppose Governor Oshiomhole does not win this election (which is very possible), does that not mean that labour had pitted itself as an opposition party of the new administration?

7. Who is bankrolling this mobilization of labour? Remember they say he who plays the piper dictates the tune.

8. Who are the direct beneficiaries of this mass rally? Is it a consensus decition of the workers or a few labour leaders who may have collected huge sums from Government to make this happen?

9. What are the chances of other candidates who want to approach the workers for support? Isn't it clear that at this early stage labour has already taken sides without hearing from the other candidates?

10. Why would a government who pays the workers endorse such a political charade when it knows it can dangle the carrot and stick for any erring affiliate.

In conclusion, it is clear that the issues I raised here are germaine and worrisome. Whereas we are averse to any body endorse any political party, it would be wrong ethically and morally for NLC & TUC to use their organization as a political party to canvass for votes for a candidate. NLC & TUC should monitor the electoral process, educate voters and even protect votes.
The labour movement in Nigeria is fast becoming an appendage of Government and a ready tool to carry out government agenda and propangada. This played in the last fuel subsidy brouhaha and its playing out again in Edo State.
LABOUR SHOULD BE NEUTRAL...WE ARE WATCHING.
