Description:
Directs and organizes all general accounting activities and accounting staff. Prepares accounting and financial reports and ensures accurate accounting systems and record keeping.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for maintaining computerized accounting system and backup control, generating computer reports and statements.
2. Administers preparation of year-end and comparative financial reports; provides analysis of current results to prior periods and/or budget.
3. Stays current with developments, practice trends in the accounting profession; monitors accounting systems and recommends new procedures.
4. Assists the Controller in training and management of accounting clerks.
5. Prepares monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts; verifies accuracy of bank statements and resolves questions or problems on statements
6. Maintain other accounts and performs other accounting duties as required or as requested by the Controller.
7. Assists the Controller in coordination of year end audit and preparation of schedules and documents for independent auditors.

EDUCATIONAL OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum 7 years accounting experience at a management level required with a major in accounting preferred. Good communications skills and the ability to work well with people is essential. Good leadership skills are beneficial. Familiarity with accounting and spreadsheet applications is also required. Zero tolerance for theft and fraud a must.
