yes it is the best teacher, but there are many instances where you never tried something and fully well know if it is good or not for you.
think about it, there are many things in this world that we've never experienced, yet we fully well know that they are wrong to do.

I prefer to learn from other peoples experience.

For me, it is. Experience is a great teacher, but it's important to learn and grow from it, and not keep repeating the same mistakes.
