Just because City did not control the space behind well and we had a few uplifting counterattacks does not mean we did not park bus. Most possession we had in that game was our defenders and goalkeeper passing among each other to kill time. None of this acknowledges the element of space.

Mikel was also a good controller. One of the hardest players to dispossess.

He was also a very good bus parker.

But was he a good DM in an attacking team? Never.

The failure is the inability to cover ground. A DM in an attacking team requires a different skillset from a bus parking DM, one of which is the ability to close spaces quickly. Second of which is the ability to ride pressure, and push the opponent back in order to put his team on the front foot. Jogginghoe can do neither.

Nothing impressive about that stats. No other midfielder played 7 full games in Euros with three extra-time. In UCL, he is the only one that played all matches.

If you check well, Granit Xhaka probably bested his passing stats on a 90 mins basis at Euros. He only went to Euros to park bus and rely on Donnaruma to save penalties.
