It's not a 2 to 5 year game to be honest. I entered ethereum 2017 and exited late 2017 after some gains but before it made it's crazy run. I had post traumatic stress for nearly 2 years due to the opportunity I missed in that period.

Any crypto that makes good run will probably be a new crypto that becomes useful and widely adopted with the advent of 5G technology.

Both Bitcoin and Ethereum have no real long term use as as they both have technological flaws.

For both, but especially for Bitcoin, the investment game is medium term plays. Bitcoin usually fluctuates between $4k and $10 over the last 2 years and every 3 or 4 months it goes down to $4k. That is when to buy and sell a few months later for $8k to $10k. Bitcoins only use is as a store of value so you have to play the game of scarcity/demand and supply with it. It will probably only ever be a store of value. There are few people holding a good percentage of Bitcoin long term and can't really sell, so $4k is like the bottom at which you can't sell below because of those people's volume of holdings and inability to sell. So this is your bottom. When it hits $4k, you buy. Every few months, some people will feel it's a time to buy and run the price up to $8-$10k so that is your cap.

Ethereum also has a similar price/volume mechanism between $120 and $220 or so, so again you buy around $120-$150 and sell few months later for anything above $200. However Bitcoin is more longer term than Ethereum so Ethereum may disappear altogether in 2 years while Bitcoin will always be a store of wealth since the number of Bitcoin in the market is limited (creating scarcity) while Ethereum has an unlimited supply and was sold initially as a technological tool, not a store of wealth. I understand the Ethereum guys are working on a new blockchain that will be more useful going forward which will mean the current Ethereum will become redundant just like Ethereum classic. What they may offer is a like for like exchange from the current Ethereum to the new Ethereum just like they did from Ethereum classic to Ethereum and from Bitcoin cash to Bitcoin.

I cannot talk about trading (betting), only buying, holding and selling because it is a personal principle to avoid anything to do with trading.

Going forward, there may be some blockchain tokens that really harness the power of 5G technology and gain worldwide acceptance, but remains to be seen. Coins like MCO by Visa may fall into that category but it won't have the price volatility that we've seen from Crypto in the past because conventional markets do not like crazy volatility. In other words, it may be a long term hold that gives you single digits returns but you won't hammer.

I don't have any knowledge whatsoever ever about crypto, but I am led to invest in it by just buying it and keeping it. I don't know how to trade it, and I don't plan to learn.
