Nigeria’s ace music producer, Don Jazzy has launched a social network called Mavin League which comes on the heels of the launch of his new music label, Mavin Records.

The social network which has crossed 5,000 members in just two days of launch features profile pages, forum, groups, events, and allows members to post updates, photos and videos as they would on Facebook.

Users can sign into the social network via Facebook or Twitter, but would be required to create a Mavin League account to join the network.

Interestingly, Mavin League seems to be adding members every 2-5 minutes and as at the time of writing this post had 5,233 members, 4,748 friendships, 18,498 posts, 1,199 comments, 121 playlists, 222 songs, 90 videos, 32 groups and 15 forum topics.

For now, there appears to be so much buzz for the social network following the launch of Don Jazzy’s new music label, Mavin Records. It also appears that people are joining and participating the social network without even noticing that it doesn’t have a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

But, who cares, really?

While it is likely that the social network would continue to grow over the coming months, it doesn’t really pose a threat to Facebook.

But since we’ve been seeing a focus on interest-based social networks in recent times, Mavin League could grow a large audience based on their interest in the enigma called Don Jazzy, his artists and their music.

Perhaps if Mavin League could introduce more interesting and engaging features to the network, its membership could surpass all the artists’ social media fans put together.
