Hey, Athsma is a very serious ailment and should not be triffled with. I have a number of friends who have been living with the condition and it's not funny when you see them having a crisis or an attack not to mention a lot of the thing we take for granted that they can't do.

Now this post may sound bizare or like a joke or something but I am all serious here (for the records). I am only trying to seek clarification to something I have been hearing over and over again.

It is said that peper-soup made with red-necked agama lizard, if taken offers a permanent cure for athsma. I have heard such talk in my childhood days in boarding school but took it for nonesense. While in my final year in the university however I overhead a student say something about it. I questioned it and he says His dad does it in his village and it works. He says he has witnessed it time and time again.

Is there anyone out there who may actualy have any real testimony or knowledge of this recipe (or formular or whatever)?

Well there is no cure for Asthma oh because I would have been cured with all the money my parents has wasted on medications.

Have been asthmatic since have been born and they have tired everything from white medication to negative drug nothing works, well it kind of better know because my doctor has change my medication and I rarely have my attack expect during winter, that is when I get my crisis, but the bad thing is the medications are so expensive, most of the time I feel bad whenever my mom pays for them

Been an asthmatic patience hasn’t disturb my daily activities, am healthy and strong, the best advice is to stay health by working out, avoid dusty thing or chores and heavy lifting, check up with your doctor on regularly basic.

Well, i used to be asthmatic, infact very Chronic cos whenevr i hd an attack, i cn only be revived wt the help of oxygen, u cn c the extent it had gone. I developed it in 1993, whn i was asked to clean a box room in my sec sch as punishment, none of my people is asthmatic from parents 2 grand parents. Therefore i dnt think all asthma cases are hereditary.

The irony of my own asthma ws i cldnt cope durn summer( heat), cold environments wre my best.

I've been asthmatic since 1995, that's was the year i gained admission to secondary school, I agree that not all cases of asthma are hereditory cos nobody in my family except me has it. I can't live in dusty area cos i tend to cough and sneeze whenever I'm in a dusty place. Also i have been experiencing constant backache and i'm not really sure if this is also resulted from the asthma, there are so many symptoms that i experience like swollen or itching of the eyes, constant fatigue etc.
I'll like other asthmatic patients to share the symptoms they experience during attacks cos I like to know that i'm not the only person experiencing this.

NB: I don't think there's a permanent cure for asthma, the only drug is to suppliment the attack cos i've used so many drugs including herbal mixtures, even the ones that make you want to vomit your chest and lungs out, so much money has been spent yet the asthma still persist but not as killing as it was when it started then.

I have been battling asthma and allergies for over 18 years. The asthma has really made it tough to exercise or do much labor intensive work. I have been to several asthma doctors, and have tried several medications. I have had two medicines that really work, Singulair and Maxair, but the side effects were too strong for me, and the medicines are quite expensive. So I am currently not on them. I wish there were some herbal supplements that would work for asthma. There are so many herbal supplements now in vitamin stores, but not sure which ones work. As for now, there is not a cure for asthma. I personally think the allergies are the main culprits that triggers my asmtha attacks, so I am on allergy medicine Clarinex, and it does help a lot. Maybe your doctor could prescribe Clarinex to you. I always try and stay away from allergies, and I do better.

hello nairalanders, u guys are really wonderful. I am a also an asthma patient. But i have tried a lot of herbal product , which i didnt see there work. The drug i use now is asthmanol F. And when ever the attack is severe due to too much inhalation dust, flames hamattan, etc, i use ventolin inhaler or sulbumol inhaler, just to clear my lungs very fast before using the drug. normaly, the drug works for 5 - 8hrs, but if after using the drug, the attack starts again within a short period, that is when my doctor says i should use antibiotic drug called shalcip and parafen. I believe this little info will help some pple in this hurrible condition

This trend is very educative and i will like to contribute a little.
My mom is asthmatic. Through her, I learnt that not all people that see the symptoms of asthma are asthmatic. I remember there was a time i was feeling asthma symptoms what she did was just giving me a lotion called "adii"in yoruba. ever since, i dont feel the symptoms again.

Now my advise, I discover that not all cases of an asthma symptom are asthma, it could be "dry cough" but it has almost same symptoms as asthma , so in any case try using that "adii" first and if it persists see your doctor. What you might have could be dry cough and not asthma.

I don't know any permanent cure.
But there is a very good way to avoid its attack.  If you feel even small chance of asthma attack before you go to sleep then

take a book and read it in somewhat loud voice and as fast as possible for 1 hour. I will clear your airways and remove the chances of attacks.

Am asthmatic and i have successfully suppressed it, the last time i had an attack was during harmattan last December. Two major things always trigger my asthma - alcohol and harmattan. i have successfully stay clear of all alcoholic drink (which was very very difficult) and try to be safe during harmattan.

Tell your friend to note the things that trigger the attacks and avoid them by all means, she will be fine.
She should always go around with her inhaler even to the toilet, i lost a friend in school because she was in the house opposite to ours and she had an attack, before she or anyone could get to the house, she collapsed and died. Since then, i take my inhaler even to the toilet or wherever i go to.

Sometimes it's embarrassing especially when people start looking at you or start saying; Eya, pele o you are asthmatic and they go on and on about their cousins, friends who are asthmatic and how dangerous it is blah blah blah but i dont mind what they say anymore
