Yes, they are possible. The one I am building in Nigeria is just like the last picture of the seven pictures you posted. The only change I made was to convert the three-car garrage to a suite. I got the plan from South Carolina. It is a 4,200 sq.ft home.

mikron: houses like this abound in nigeria

the house you have in pic and the house the op has up there are 2 different houses
designs can be done anywhere but what I suspect the Op is asking about is materials which are suited for building houses like that
Re: Is This Practical In Nigeria....comments Please. by Bright2(m): 4:06pm On May 18, 2012
Very possible just thet the space 200x200 feet of land you have as space will not be enough to project it good outlook after the finish. undecided

Re: Is This Practical In Nigeria....comments Please. by niddamugu(m): 4:36pm On May 18, 2012
Anything is possible in Nigeria. But the only snag is the security system - no fence at all. Or is there any provision for that? This is Nigeria and there must be provision for "KiriKiri" high fence otherwise... I rest my case. grin grin grin grin

Zediccus: This is were i have a problem. Must they be fenced ? Can't there be an estate with good security system so as to avoid fencing ? Putting up a fence will definately hide its beauty.

Where is beauty without safety? In Nigeria, owning a home is safety first before beauty........
Re: Is This Practical In Nigeria....comments Please. by Emphasis(m): 5:03pm On May 18, 2012
@poster i beleive you've gotten ur answer by now.
What roof materials are some people taking about? Is it shingles? Slate tiles? Step tiles? Green factor? Glazed? There are all used in Nigerian buildings.
Buildings basically reflects peoples' way of life, its all boil down to what you want. Garages, gardens and chimneys are all seen in most houses in nigeria, though chimney will on be for aesthetic purpose and i dont think Plateau state is cold enough to require it.
Garages on the other hand are not in vogue in Nigeria, but there are there.
Basicall buildings are base on many considerations like:
Cost implication, climatic requirement, user's requirement, building codes, location, availability of building materials, durabilty, fire resistance, cost of mentainance etc.
You are free to build anything anywhere as long has u can afford it and its not against the building codes and local authority.
I speak as an architect.

yeah thats true, but depending on the Location. There are areas in Uyo for example where u can only build garden fences, basically for beauty. Little or no security is provided

These houses are cool. Having them in Nigeria is of course practical bro. I wonder why some people opt for tenancy in expensive hotels in Nigeria and stay for God-knows years instead of having this kind of cool structure to his comfort. Any way, it's a choice but a rather wrong and insane choice.

@Op

You are very free to build anything(house) in Nigeria but you must keep in mind our special circumstance/geography) and culture et al.
Function and practicality/use must be paramount in your deliberation/thought. Foreign inspired architectural aesthetics do not always translate very well in our environment. You'll certainly find such monstrosities everywhere in Naija. We tend to mimic/consume foolishly or uncritically especially amongst the "new" monied class residing in so called high brow areas of our cities/towns. It is no wonder that Nigeria have some of the worst/ugliest physical structures in Africa despite our relative affluence. Please, take a look around in Africa, you may find something more inspiring than American style homes that are not exactly attractive nor functionally conducive to our environment. Our local architects might be able to inspire and fire your imagination if you can find a properly trained one not mere draughtsmen/women.
