Minister calls for reduction of UNIABUJA 11,000 hectares landmass

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed has directed that a technical committee be constituted to review the large expanse of land allocated to the University of Abuja.

Speaking in Abuja, the Minister noted that the university occupies a total land mass of over 11,000 hectares which according to him is a waste of resource and should be streamlined for other projects in the nation’s capital.

The Minister therefore emphasized that his administration is committed to ensuring effective distribution of land and provision of infrastructure to enhance development in the city

I want inform dose dat hv nt ben admttd to knw deir chances and hv plan on hw to stand on it, d truth is always bita. last year about 14,000 candidates out of 18,000 that applied for admission into the University of Abuja were denied admission. Only 4,000 were admttd. and frm dis 4,000 no 1 has ben admttd into medicine, vetinary and engr. So if dose courses ar accreditd b4 d list cm out d num will increase. Note d applicants can't b admttd all, so is beter u hv 2nd plan incase. Gudluck.

Hmmmm, u ar right, not all dat aplied will be admited, but a great hope abounds 4 d science stdnts am sure, cos d remedial stdnts dat mostly fill d science departments dis time ar vry small, so I tink more stdnts will be admited dis time in Jesus name......AMEN!

Construction is going on in d permanent side at moment, so I dnt think d skull will resume on monday, because: The N2billion grant President Jonathan awarded Uniabuja for Accreditation has tear the Institution apart as many want a piece of the fund.

Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune revealed that stakeholders who were angry at the vice Chancellor, Professor James Adelabu, for “tampering with the status quo,” were unhappy that the man would administer the presidential grant.

It was gathered that following the approval of that money, groups opposed to the vice chancellor immediately oiled their machinery and engaged protesters who would make things difficult and possibly engineer the sack of the management team of the institution.

“Reports reaching us indicate that the N2 billion granted the school to resolve its accreditation problems is at the base of the contrived and sustained protests we have witnessed by students in recent times in University of Abuja. Many people are eying that money, even including council members who have been sponsoring all sorts of contractors. It is a strange development that all these are happening in an academic environment,” a source said, adding that the good thing is that the money could not be accessed without appropriate submissions on the projects to be executed.

It was gathered that some critics of the vice chancellor were opposed to his style, which emphasized direct labour for the execution of critical projects as opposed to awarding contracts.

Should the said grant be retrieved to as to clear the air?
