The email and phone numbers on the South Africa High Commission website are not working. A visit to the High Commission office was also futile as I was refused entry and told to channel all visa issues to VFS. What can one do? I have also written the International Students Office of the university where I intense to pursue Phd Studies but that also has not yielded any result. Is there any channel available to speak to the consular office?

The new SA High Commissioner is the one making the permit process complex. However, as a PhD student you need not worry too much because you can commence your study anytime. You only need to inform your supervisor and the International Office.

I think it's a general issue perhaps from Home Affiars in ZA.
I've seen another thread where Zimbabweans are complaining.
Fortunately for them, they have been able to force their high commissioner to release all passports by Feb ending, with priority for scholarship n grant recipients.

I had to send a mail to the SA Home affairs directly who I believe is attending to my case because they replied me and apologized for the inconveniences they caused me. Later they sent me another mail requesting for my visa application ref number. I forwarded all the documents and even attached a letter from my hod requesting them to expedite the process. So I believe they are already on it and hopefully it will be out soon.

I wonder why the south african high commission are really taking time in the processing of their visa while in possession of your passport. When i applied for a visitor’s visa in 2017, i got my passport back in 3wks..

i just applied for my study permit..just hope it won’t take more than 4weeks. If you can email your school international office, asking for their assistance in mailing the SAHC in Nigeria on your behalf. Kindly do that as i think this should speed up the processing.

On what visa? You’re the one spreading false news. did I tell you they return every single person that fly with other airlines excluding SAA? Please talk like a learned person. I personally know about four people that were returned using other airlines. Even agencies like wakanow which I use will advice you to fly with SAA
