DrOA:

Getting a job with a study permit is difficult in SA. But within the university you are studying, you can be given jobs as a tutor or marker or whatever. 2. Payment of tuition is not expected in full. You can always pay part. 3. Durban and Cape town are both good location. However, Cape town is more expensive than Durban. 4. After the completion of your study, you can always apply for critical skills visa without leaving SA. And from there to PR.
This is the process I followed.

Yes, it allows you to work 20 hours a week but it's difficult to get job outside your university environment. So, it's only the university that can engage you.

Okay just wanna be sure you have the right to work.

Concerning proof of funds what's the minimum balance you should have in your account?

Do you mind if I connect with you on Whatsapp or LinkedIn.

I'm planning to start my application next month.

The requirements include minimum of R3000 in your bank statement while making application for the critical skills

Hello everyone. I have a few questions and concerns about the study visa.

1. Are you allowed to work in South Africa with your study permit and for how many hours.

2. What are chances of getting a general work permit after studies or critical skills work visa after studies, do you have to return to home country and reapply or you can do this while in South Africa?

3. With reference to the attached document, in line with critical skills work permit/visa gazette it states here that postgraduate degree holders stand a change for applying for critical skills work permit after schooling in South Africa. Not sure if this is correct can someone provide context to this section of gazette.

4. Do I have to make part payment of my tuition fees before applying for my study visa or I can proceed with just the my offer/admission letter?

5 Cape Town Or Durban which would you prefer? - For people in South Africa.

Let's keep the conversation going.

It will end In praise for all of us.

Cheers

1. On paper yes, in reality d best job you'll get might be a tutor or pg assistant if u are coming for post grad studies. Except you have exceptional skills (eg IT skills) and you can quickly find a side hustle on the side. Rarely happens, but it happened for a few people.

2. Work permit is more difficult these days, but PR maybe possible especially if you graduate from critical skills area. Find out that one.

3. Read that gazette. Properly. A lot of things are on paper but the reality on ground is different especially now. There is a high level of unemployment in SA now than ever. Pple are scrambling to get jobs.

4. Depends on the school. Most will allow part payment for at least a year. Do your research.

5. I've lived in both cities. Durban is cheap but has limited opportunities. Cpt is expensive but you can offset that cost if you have a good job or source of income. Cpt is a beautiful tourist city and there's more diversity of pple, and well more opportunities.

My 2 cents.

I'm a product designer and also develop websites. I stumble on a very interesting course in an academy in South Africa and I'm considering it. I know getting a job won't be so difficult cause the skill is in high demand and I still get SA company that poaches me but most of them will want you in SA before considering hiring due to strigent immigration policies and relocation burdens.

The program runs for one year and it's an SAQA Level 7 upon completion, I'll be exploring a work permit or permanent residency or what's have you.

But just trying to play safe here cause I have a secured 9-5 that pays overs 250k here in Nigeria in top Fintech company.
But I just need to grow my career the course curriculum is the best I have seen so far, I can say it matches some programs in US and UK universities and colleges. But the program cost about N2mllion and January 2022 intake is open.

I'll just take it slow and hope things works out as planned.

Can you share the name of the academy so I can research on it please

Good day house, please I need your advice on the renewal of passport in S.A
1. Where can the passport be renewed in SA 2. What will be the cost 3. How long will it be processed before it is out . Or is it better to obtain the renewal right in Nigeria even when the one you are holding still valid for more than 6months and with valid visa on it. Your advice will be appreciated
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 1:59pm On Apr 10, 2021

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 2:01pm On Apr 10, 2021
I believe the Nigeria HC in South Africa can renew your passport for you in SA, but you can't renew a passport that still have a 6 months validity.

When the courier service calls you to inform you of their coming, you can tell them you would pick it from their office. You can also tell them your new address ...they would get it to you.

your agent scammed you by doing a fake insurance hence the denial.. Hold your agent responsible.. He should be the one you ask for your money not momentum.

It's very possible to get a refund from Momentum. I have done so a couple of times but you must do so within 30days of your visa denial.

Whatever choice you make, ensure that Capetown is your final destination. You will love it. It's quite expensive tho.

mumentum did not actually specify 30 days after denial perherps their new policy I was told to look for a South Africa local account that they can transfer to an account outside south Africa

You can actually renew anytime, I did mine with 8 months validity.

You renew at the Nigerian consulate at Johannesburg, but first make payment at OIS service at Rosebank, then they give you a date for capturing. It's a long and tedious process, so if you have someone to help do it in Nigeria, it's better.

Processing time depends on the availability of booklet. Though, there are agents here who helps to fast track things with extra payment.
