Paul’s illogicality cannot be the word of “the only wise God.”

There is no one in the bible as illogical as Paul. He claims he preached the gospel: “not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.” (1 Corinthians 1:17). Nevertheless, Luke says: “(Paul) reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath.” (Acts 18:4). Paul’s “reasoning” is often incoherent and contradictory. To accept some of the things he says, one has to take leave of one’s senses.

Contradictions galore

Paul maintains salvation is not contingent upon our works, but is “by grace through faith” in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9). Then he puts his foot in his mouth by saying to the Galatians: “You who attempt to be justified by law have fallen from grace.” (Galatians 5:4). But if grace is unmerited favour, then a man cannot fall from it. If the favour is unmerited, it cannot be lost by demerits. Paul says we were “bought at a price,” ostensibly by Christ. (1 Corinthians 6:20). But only slaves are bought; sons are not bought but birthed. Then he says we are forgiven. (Colossians 2:13). But if we are forgiven, nobody needs to pay for us; and if we are paid for, then we don’t need to be forgiven.

Paul says: “there is none righteous, no not one.” (Romans 3:10). He then boxes himself into a corner by saying: “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9). But if there is none righteous and only the righteous will inherit, where then will God find the righteous who will inherit his kingdom? Paul just cannot think straight. His defective logic about the non-existence of the righteous does not even recognise “Jesus Christ the righteous.” (1 John 2:1). Compare Paul’s irreverent generalization to Jesus’ recognition of God’s exceptionality. Jesus says: “No one is good but One, that is, God.” (Matthew 19:17).

In 1 Corinthians 2:14, Paul sets a trap for himself and falls into it. He says: “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Then he says: “However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.” (1 Cor 15:46). But if the natural is first, how can the natural then become spiritual when, according to Paul’s ingenuity, the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God? Thereby, Paul nullifies his own doctrine and shows it to be idiotic.

Convoluted logic

Paul tries to compare the coming of the New Testament with the second marriage of a widow. But he muddles everything up; casting serious doubts on his alleged Pharisee training. He says: “The woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. .. Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another- to Him who was raised from the dead.” (Romans 7:2/4). But a widow does not die because her husband dies. A dead wife does not remarry. In actual fact, it is Christ, the “new husband,” who died. The law, the “old husband,” is still alive.

Quoting Epidemedes, Paul says: “One of them, a prophet of their own, said, ‘Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.’” Surprisingly, Paul agrees with this, saying: “This testimony is true.” (Titus 1:12-13). But if Cretans are always liars, this statement by one of them must also be false. Thereby, Paul trips on his own shoe-laces once again.

Double-mindedness

Paul comes up with this lofty principle: “Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians 6:7-. However, he then nullifies it by insisting those who sow to the spirit should reap in the flesh. He says: “If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?” (1 Corinthians 9:11). This is the hypocritical theology of the money-minded con-man which has so many adherents in the pastors of today.

Paul says: “The doers of the law shall be justified.” (Romans 2:13). Then he contradicts himself in the same breath: “By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified.” (Romans 3:20). He says to the Galatians: “Bear one another’s burdens.” (Galatians 6:2). Then he says: “Each one shall bear his own load.” (Galatians 6:5). If each man shall bear his own load, how can we then bear one another’s burdens? Paul says: “All who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law.” (Romans 2:12). Then he contradicts himself by saying: “where there is no law, there is no transgression.” (Romans 4:15). If, as he says, no law means no sin; how then can he also say no law means sin leading to condemnation?

Listen to Paul in his own self-implicating words. He says to the Thessalonians: “Our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, NOR IN GUILE.” (1 Thessalonians 2:3). Then he says to the Corinthians: “I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you WITH GUILE.” (2 Corinthians 12:16). In short, by his own account, Paul is not deceptive and he also is. Which of these is the infallible word of Paul? Certainly, such illogicality cannot be the word of “the only wise God.” (Romans 16:27).

Nonsensical Christology

Lagos drivers are terrible. We drive with scant regard for traffic laws. We drive on the pavements and on the wrong sides of the road. We beat red lights, violate one-way traffic signs, and park in no-parking zones.

But one day, a man called Jesus came to Lagos. He was a perfect driver and he obeyed scrupulously all the traffic laws. In recognition for his fastidiousness, the Lagos State Government repealed all traffic laws on the grounds that Jesus had fulfilled them. Any man who believes in Jesus is then deemed to have also obeyed all the laws. Nevertheless, the government sent Jesus himself to the firing squad for violating traffic laws, even though in actual fact he had obeyed them all.

This is a parody of Paul’s Christology. Why should Christians believe such arrant nonsense?

With the repeal of all traffic laws because of Jesus’ perfect obedience, would Lagos drivers automatically become “new creatures” on the roads? No! What if Paul maintains: “there is now no condemnation for Lagos drivers?” (Romans 8:1). Would that improve the situation? Not likely! What if Paul declares: “There is no good driver, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10). Would that make the difference? Certainly not! What if Paul tells Lagos drivers all things are lawful on the roads, but they should avoid things that are not expedient? (1 Corinthians 6:12). Would they therefore drive with circumspection? Definitely not! What if Paul reassures Lagosians the Chief Judge of the state now “justifies ungodly drivers?” (Romans 4:5). Would that make them good drivers? Absolutely not!

And yet, that is the foolishness and ludicrousness of Pauline Christianity.

It is instead my experience that the majority of those who quote the person of Paul don't even comprehend him let alone comprehend his views. Let's for example compare Paul's actual words to th claims made against Him by Aribasala here.

▢ Aribasala claims that Paul said he preached the gospel without the wisdom of words which I take to mean that Aribasala believes Paul insisted that never reasoned the Truth of God for himself.

1. I am afraid yet again, Aribasala confuses his own confusion with that of Paul's. Arisabala seems unaware that he violates context in his attempts to cast all of these statements as though reference to the same issues.

▢ In Ephesians 2 vs 1 - 9, Paul clearly speaks in reference to Salvation from the condemnation of Sin aka Death which Jesus Christ addressed in John 3 vs 1 - 21. Clearly, We are gifted God's grace(Eternal Life) as grace from the curse of Death we were previously condemned to as sinners of Old. And we are only able to obtain that Eternal Life(grace) through faith — submission and obedience to Jesus Christ's teachings requiring we be born-again(born of water and of Spirit). Here, the confusion is clearly Aribasala's and not Paul's.

▢ In Galatian 5, beginning from verse 1 through verse 15, Paul makes clear that his tirade is addressed to those who, after abandoning the Old Law of Moses when they became born-again, would go back to practicing, yet again, that which pertained to the Old Law of Moses. And this makes sense because Jesus Christ is a different and separate covenant from the Old Law of Moses and those who belong in the New Law of Moses are to steer clear of practicing that which pertains to the Old Law. Jesus Christ vehemently warned His followers of catastrophic outcomes should they attempt to mix Old wine and New Wine. So, here again, we find that the confused one here is clearly Aribasala and not Paul.

▢ Very wrong assertion from Aribasala here. Eternal Life aka grace is gifted to all sinners who become born-again and enter into the Kingdom of God as a result. However, not all those who enter into the Kingdom of God will enter into Heaven(eternal reward at the end). Many, as Jesus Christ made clear, will end up spending that grace in the place of eternal damnation because they failed to use that grace given to them wisely. So, again, the confused one here is Aribasala and not Paul.

▢ I am not really crazy about Paul's views expressed in 1 Corinthians 6 so let me use the Words of Jesus Christ here instead to respond to Aribasala's comment about us being slaves.

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you continue to accept and obey my teaching, you are really my followers.
32 You will know the truth and the truth will make you free.”
33 They answered, “We are Abraham’s descendants. And we have never been slaves. So why do you say that we will be free?”
34 Jesus said, “The truth is, everyone who sins is a slave—a slave to sin.
35 A slave does not stay with a family forever. But a son belongs to the family forever.
36 So if the Son makes you free, you are really free.
37 I know you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me because you don’t want to accept my teaching.
38 I am telling you what my Father has shown me. But you do what your father has told you.” - John 8 vs 31 - 38

Yes, we were slaves to sin, and yes, God by way of Jesus Christ created a path to draw us — ex-convicts from His Old Law of Moses, slaves of sin — back to Himself in His New Law. Here again, we find that Aribasala failed to understand Paul due to a lack of knowledge of Jesus Christ.

▢ Paul did not say you are forgiven, rather, addressing instead those who have in fact been forgiven — those who have been living their lives continuously in submission and obedience to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ -those who in fact belong to Jesus Christ - Colossians 2 vs 6 - 10. Jesus Christ said those who love Him, those who belong to Him are those who obey His teachings and commandments. John 8 vs 31 - 38 above points out that they are those who are then forgiven by Him — set free from slavery to sin by the Son — Truth Himself. Aribasala again projects his confusion on Paul.

1. I am afraid Aribasala is guilty of dumping his ignorance on Paul, yet again! For some odd reason, Aribasala does not respect contextual integrity when reading through Paul's letter, the very same mistake those who worship the man Paul equally make.

In Romans 3 vs 10 - 18 Paul quotes from various parts of scripture in his attempt to explain to his brethren that they were in fact the wicked and evil generation to the destroyed by God. Yes, at that point in time, God's plan was to destroy the rest of Israel — the Nation of Judah aka the Jews— and that plan was heralded by the coming of Jesus Christ. Below, we see that what Paul wrote in that passage was of the evil people who were against God.

■ Romans 3 vs 10 - 12 quotes Psalm 53 where David writes about the evil people who do terrible things.

1 Only fools think there is no God. People like that are evil and do terrible things. They never do what is right.
2 God looks down from heaven to see if there is anyone who is wise, anyone who looks to him for help.
3 But everyone has turned away from him. Everyone has become evil. No one does anything good. No, not one person!
4 Those who are evil treat my people like bread to be eaten. And they never ask for God’s help. Don’t they understand what they are doing? - Psalm 53 vs 1 - 3

The above passage clearly says that this prophecy was said of the evil people aka the fools who convinced themselves that God does not exist. You know this from reading verse 4 where God highlights the way evil people treat His people.
■ Romans 3 vs 13 a Paul references David's prayer against his enemies found in Psalm 5

8 Lord, show me your right way of living and make it easy for me to follow. People are looking for my weaknesses, so show me how you want me to live.

When Adam sinned, he lost the direct access he initially had with God. (Genesis 3) God decided to send his only begotten son (Jesus) to pay the price for our sins on the cross of calvary because of his love for us. God's Old Covenant Law which was set up by God as the National Constitution of the nation of Israel in the Land of Israel was the constitution upon which God's promise was established/built in Israel, and each Israelite was required to live in submission and obedience to that rock till the end - 2 Samuel 22 vs 1 - 47. So, Peter would have had no difficulties understanding that Jesus Christ meant He was God's New agreement/Rock upon which the Church that belonged to Jesus Christ - the Kingdom of God - is established/built, the very embodiment of what is God's Law and Gospel.
