Lawyers re paid 165 per anum while doctors re paid 240. Bur teachers are paid 110k or 55k depending on their place of primary Assignment.

Served in Oyigbo Local Government Area. Rivers is expensive. Transportations round the area and food stuffs are pretty on the high side.
Most times they think every corps member lobbies his or her post to the state cos of their #110k. You may suffer discrimination if u're Igbo. Some of them can be so boastful and think you came from the bush. Dont want to go further, Just go get ur experience of the state dear. Good luck!

True Rivers State is expensive, second only to Abuja but your claims of discrimination is false else how come we find lots of Igbos here? Probably the way you carried yourself..


@OP. Rivers State is a wonderful place to serve. You certainly will get used to cost-of-living

You;ll definitely teach, except u r doc or lawyer.

Portharcourt is pretty expensive, but pray you are serving in its outskirts, u know not too far from PHC but at least remote enough. If I am honest, nothing special about the place and the roads are bad. They pay among the highest though and there are opportunities to make some money too.

do u say prospective corp member may suffer discrimination if they are Igbo or if they are not Igbo?

There's no discrimination jor... Just finished serving there. As they rightly said you'll get paid 110k or 55k depending on ur PPA at the end of the service year... As for the teaching thing, its unavoidable. After all every corps member in Nigeria is now meant to teach save for the doctors and lawyers so come over and have fun. i am a batch A corper serving in river state, my broda, dis place expensive die, food stuff cost die, transportation na wire, but at d end of d service year, u ll be paid 165k. i be igbo boy n i neva suffer any discrimination. abeg if u dey com camp, make u buy rubber shoe n not snickers or canvas. the camp hostels no make sense, but mami market try. i wish u save trip to rivers.

Served in rivers state 12-13 yrs ago at The Kings Nursery/Primary school in Okochiri - Okrika LGA and to say i had a pleasnt stay is an understatement.

The people were hospitable, there was electricity, learnt to eat periwinkles, pay was ok compared with other ppa, had my fair share of babes, had a nysc colleague who was company and fed me well .

One experience i will always remember was been woken up by gunshots from clashes with Eleme community and my proprietor said we "non indigenes" had to leave the next morning. for the 1st time i entered a boat (i was scared stiff)to PH.

Wish i could get to see some of my pupils. would also visit anytime i go to ph again.

hello, please, can i know where one can work one's ppa to that will fetch more money? and how can one generate enough funds, what can one do to get that?
