INTRODUCTION
Culture has been aptly described as "the totality of the way of life evolved by a people in there attemp to meet the challenge of living in the environment".
Accordingly, culture is what gives order and and meaning to the linguistic, social, political, economic, aesthetic, religious and philosophical modes and organisation of a people, nation, or ethnic group.
In order words, culture is the hallmark of the distinction as well as the connection between between one people and another.
The notion f "distinction" and "connection" between culture are crucial, since the emphasis on the one or the other often tend over vitality divergent concequences for intergrup relations aand consensus-building: sensitization to difference and stimulation of conflict and ever war at one level; and, at the other, appreciation of similarities and affinities and, therefore, cooperation - if not integration - and peace.
