I used obio for my anc 3x but mehn crowd chased me back to a private hospital. Imagine being no 287 when I came by 7:40,I just ran.private hospitals charge #9k for it.I think its important for them to have introduced it.

Hello Abiagirl, please how is Obio charges like? Is it true that the clinic is free for children? I have a cousin whose daughter is 9 years I want to recommend

Since I got Electric Sterilizer, I haven't used it. It's easier for me to wash and then soak with boiled water. The reason for abandoning the electric sterilizer is because I don't understand the instruction in the Manuel or how to use it. So I just packed it and I'm using my hot water to soak in a container biko

Sounds like it's the ring method.

It usually falls off within a week. Max two weeks. So take him back to the hospital as the doctor has instructed you.

This reminds me of when my lo did his circumcision. It was horrible o. Coupled with the fact that he can't bear pain and the voice no b here. I called a midwife home. 5k. My baby ran temperature no b small. The thing was so painful that I could feel it myself. Imagine me standing with baby all through the night. The air that came out from the mouth was fire. To suck nko? He will just bite and drag the ni.pples like he was revenging. I won't call that lady again. I asked .y friends and they all said their babies didn't have fever.

So after the horrible pains on the first day and no sleep o and no sitting down? I started praying for healing. It was so scaring. On the night breaking the third day, that was how my lo cried and forcefully pulled the ring with his legs as he was robbing them together in pains. I tell u, that was the end of fever for my son. He just slept off. Like an angel patted him. Applying penicillin on the fresh wound didn't pain him much. Thay was all i used until the wound healedm I thank God who delivered my baby from such complications

There is no need trading words with your former employers.

Be calculating in how you go about it. You dont want to let this come back on you and give you a reputation as a troublemaker as it may affect your employability. You want this to be a "David vs Goliath" / underdog case.

Try getting lawyer to write them a very detailed letter.

List out EVERY THING, you remember they did wrong, blatant errors, procedures, shortcuts, dates, times, all participants at the time, pictures or any evidence you have.

And also that you could not morally remain in that place knowing how bad their codes of conduct. And also as one of the most junior staff you will be unable to effect any changes.

Let them know that the things they are saying about you are defamatory and untrue. Just because you left quietly does not mean that you do not have the means to highlight to the world their inefficiencies. .... ( when social media starts with them, even coackroach will not go there to change plaster)

Should this slander continue, you will have no chhoice but to escalate the issues and sue them for slander and defamation of character.

You can tell them that you will also be escalating the issues with the national medical and nursing boards. ( whatever they are called) and that based on the practices witnessed ( and with evidence if you have any) the practise will need to be blacklisted as it is a death trap.

If you know anyone in those association, ask around the process for reporting in case it comes to that.

Make all your correspondence via letter through your lawyer. If anyone calls you from the hospital... find a way to record calls so you can have evidence of any threats that they are throwing at you.

Make sure you keep copies of all correspondence as well and document everylthing.

In the mean time, keep applying else where. I pray you get something in a more reputable practise.

I use milton sterilising tablets which is a cold water sterilization method. I discovered and was told that boiling or using boiled water for bottle spoil the teats. They change colour and they become weak ovee time.

It is subsidized by shell/Mobil oil companies not free. It'd better to use their health scheme which almost everybody uses which makes it cheaper, its #10k for one person though you'll pay for one other person of your choice(mandatory),which means you pay #20k which covers your(2ppl) health bill for one Yr in whatever issue including childbirth.
The downside is the crowd but you get to meet qualified personnel at a cheap rate.
If you live around Eleme,Eneka, oil mill,Rumukwurushi area, they have their 2nd branch at Rumukwurushi roundabout just beside Genesis fastfoods which a lot of ppl are unaware of but there's less crowd there.

Okay! Let's do this smiley

Please let's talk about your job: is it a career-defining job? My sister left her children (youngest aged 3 years) to go to another country to get a Masters...came back with an M.B.B.S (she's a consultant paediatrician) and is advancing her career. Is that what your job is, an amazing opportunity for growth? Is it a financially-rewarding job: my last job paid me more than N200,000 for 4 days of medium-stress work. I should have kept it, because I never got home later than 6pm max and would probably even get home earlier nowadays. Is that your job, a financial comfort?

Because if your job is neither of those things, you are sacrificing a lot for nothing.

I get it, Nigeria is awful with this economy and Lagos is a nightmare (I'm a city-dweller lagosian and reading you describing jumping bus daily to the island, with a young baby, is horrid. You must be exhausted). But, in Nigeria, we do a lot of things out of foolishness, even me, Because "That's Just How We Do It". So calculate your income and how much you are spending living in Lagos (one of the top 20 most expensive cities in the world to live in, please google this fact) and see if at the end of the day, you have upto N10,000 to save in your personal Savings account. Because, if you still need money monthly from your husband to support your household in Lagos, your job ain't cutting it. So move.

A clever person I follow on Twitter said last week, "a lot of people feel you must be in Lagos to make money, it's a false narrative". He's right, you would be surprised that moving out to Akure/Benin/Kaduna/Nassarawa etc will open up an opportunity you never thought of...and you will blow. I've seen it happen. So move, with a plan.

Damisinto, what is your job? Is there opportunity for growth? Because, you gotta think outside the box. There are jobs you can create for yourself (no, not baking, makeup, small chops, sewing etc. Too many people are doing it, and doing it badly). Do you know, I have seen 3 opportunities outside Lagos, in more affordable cities (one up North, one down South, one can work anywhere, heck even a small town, that can be taken advantage of? One can be turned into an awesome career (so many people will copy you eh). All they need is the right person who has a passion for it, and unfortunately you cannot fake passion for something. But yes, people do make money off their passions, if they plan right and carefully.
Thanks o...I am a Nurse(Bsc holder)the job isn't even worth it that is the funny thing. Nursing in Nigeria is so messed up to even start with. I spend like one third on transport/buying food on the days I go to work without food. Apart from the fact that I want to have time to take care of my son,i am beginning to get pissed with what happens there. Anytime I plan to resign my direct boss just keeps pleading. I have been trying to save enough money and see if I can start an online business or something. If you talk about increasing pay my MD tells you if you ain't comfortable with the pay you can leave.

Please why are people saying no ice? Its called a cold compress. You do not apply the ice directly. You're to wrap it in a wash cloth, test that its not too cold by pressing on your skin before you press down on baby's injection site. It's what i did for mine or else you'll let the injection site heal hard like that. They say Dont rub the injection site because they dont want to introduce infection into the wound. You can also apply (not rub) a little mentholatum to the site. I did mentholatum in the mornings, cold compress in the evenings. This is after i had left it untouched for almost 5 days and it wasnt getting better and even looked red. Do cold compress so you dont wait for it to get complicated. It can happen with any nurse, it could be a vaccine reaction but just incase ask the nurse to be gentle when next you go.

you are right. several days before my son's immunisation, my SIL told me about using ice on the injection site but i forgot about it untill my son became fussy after the injection. while thinking about how to ease his pain, i remembered my SIL's remedy and immediately i applied a cold compress to the site, my son slept off. he didn't even have a fever.

They have more to lose, becaus they know if peoplw start digging, a whole graveyard of skeletons will be found. They will realise that she is not to be toiled with. Stay your lane i stay my lane. Do not bad mouth me, and i will move.. no drama

It's like my baby has a new crazy thing each new week. This week has been the week of crazy screaming and trying to eat her feet I wonder if all that shrill yelling won't hurt her throat. Last week was the week of crazy flips. Can't wait to find out what's in store for next week. Probably the week of trying to grab your food cuz she's beginning to look at food like she recognizes it. Why not start with "What do I like doing? What can I talk about for 3 hours?". Because truly, there is something out there for everyone, try not to jump into anything because "I need money", I've done so and it backfired, yet when I got into something I was interested in, I got a great paying job, infact I created my own job in the company. For me, I'm good with ideas and concepts. I think I have identified someone on this thread who is good with finances and investments and setting up businesses. So, please what are you good at? What is that thing that people say about you? Money management, creativity, hospitality, fashion, catering, organisation etc.

I am a chartered accountant by profession but love buying and selling products( raw, semi-finished or finished products). I'm also gd @ hospitality service. I would really appreciate if u can help me think of a gd business for nw or working in a less stressful environment cos of my children and hubby not being around cos of the nature of his job ( serving this yimu country). Hey momma, From your description, I think a ring was installed, the thread is used to tie the glass ring(I don't know why they do that). Vaseline is solid, so you use liquid so you can pour, all you needed was coconut oil and penicillin ointment mixed together and applied every 2 hrs, that was what I did and the ring came off on the fifth day, when the ring comes off, you will see whitish stuff around the cap , don't panic, just keep applying the penicillin and that too will clear off, you can try that till you go back to the hospital.
Just to add, doc said not to apply anything on it until the ring falls off. It fell off on the 4th day and i have since been using penicillin whenever i change his diaper and it's been healing well.

Continue on the pre nan! I hope you are not making it too thick? Follow the instructions on the can.

Give small water after every feed.

I'd also like to know your feeding routine if you don't mind.
