After extracting a ROM I want to flash with sp flashtool this is the size, is it normal?
|
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 10:27pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
Fortune440:A whole ROM? No way. Except you're trying to flash something specific- a kernel, modem, etc. But a ROM is large. AOSP ROMs are about 150MB and above. Normal OEM ROMs like Samsung and the rest can be up to 1GB. Do you want a to flash a ROM? |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Fortune440(m): 10:33pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
Karmanaut:yes. The initial ROM was about 1gb.. After extracting its now 26mb.. So I don't know if it's on point or not |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 10:35pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
Fortune440:Initial? What was the extension of what you downloaded? What is the file extension after extraction? |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Fortune440(m): 10:38pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
Karmanaut:.zip.. After extraction, the files are many. Its a ROM |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 10:44pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
Fortune440:If you're going to flash via custom recovery (cwm, etc) you shouldn't extract. Do you have a custom recovery like CWM? Is there a folder in the zip file named META-INF? |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Fortune440(m): 10:49pm On Oct 05, 2015 |
Karmanaut:I have a custom recovery, but no META-INF |

Fortune440:I'm confused. You want to flash a whole ROM via SP flash tool? Do you have the scatter file? |

Seunpaul01:Hi, please make sure the phone is connected to the internet normally or you can go to another place where signal is stronger. If the problem still exists, you can try restore factory settings but remember to back up the important files. If there is still problem, you can take your phone to our Carlcare Service Center, our technicians there will try to help you with it. If you need us send your address and hotline of our service center, please let us know the city and state you are living in now. Thank you! |

If I flash a ROM with sp flashtool and untick used data.. Am I guaranteed not to lose my files? Karmanaut |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 9:55pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
Fortune440:I have no idea I do not use an MTK device You should always backup your files in case it gets deleted during flashing, or in case something goes wrong during flashing. You never know when a backup might come in handy. |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 10:00pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
mhozzis:You needn't have factory reset, just uninstalled redundant applications; app storage is different from media storage. If your app storage dips beyond a certain size you won't be able to install an app of even 1kb even if your media storage is 10Terabytes. To your problem: Reboot to recovery: When phone is powered off, hold the home key, power button and volume up key. Then factory reset / clear cache from recovery. Volume buttons are to move up and down, power button is to select. |

Karmanaut:Thanks. Done that but the boot loop persist |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by jamesbawa(m): 10:21pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
My tecno m3 is acting funny, everytime i try to boot it, it shows select boot mode (volume_up to select volume_down e.t.c) with a cursor hovering up and down. Pressing any of the volume buttons doesn't help. I have flashed d phone but its still showing d same thing |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 10:28pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
mhozzis:Weird. It's not supposed to boot loop in the first place? Wipe it again and leave it for... like 20 mins. If it doesn't boot you may have to flash it. Do you have a PC? 1 Like |
Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 10:33pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
jamesbawa:Remove the battery and reinsert. If it persists then One or more of your volume keys is malfunctioning. Are you holding the volume button while booting? Usually you have to hold the volume buttons to boot into select boot mode. So if that's happening without pressing any volume button then the volume buttons are pressing themselves. |

Karmanaut:thanks, will try to fix the volume keys tomorrow |

Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Nobody: 11:33pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
Fortune440:Yes, if it's for your device. Wipe data, cache and Dalvik cache via recovery first. |
