It's nice that a Nigerian city has a street-sweeper machine. Kudos to the governor for making it happen. |

ketoprofen: I believe your question was borne out of a genuine quest for information and not mischief, so i will answer it: The journey does not end in Addis! Passengers from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu catch their onward flights from Addis Ababa to their end destinations in the Far East, Europe, North and South America without having to re-check in their luggages at Addis Ababa to these destinations. Luggages are tagged to these end destinations right there at Enugu. Help spread the meassage to your family members and friends. 1 Like |

kostadinis: Apart from the Far East route frequented by business men, how does he not know that many Nigerians have been flying from, London,Amsterdam,Rome, Sao Paulo & Rio Brazil, and Dulles international airpot in Washington DC, USA to Enugu via Addis Ababa. My neighbour here in Warri visited her children living in America and returned through Enugu route, and she said the journey was so smooth and cheaper than when she used British airways to fly to Philadelphia two years ago. 5 Likes |

Warri _Pikin: Well, I thought it's a matter of interest. Some people are more aware of the events around them than others, It's just like that. The most important thing here is to continue spreading the news about the AIIA in any way we can. Someone, the other day, brought to our attention that many international traders at Onitsha have not even heard about the international flight operations at the Coal city. I'm very glad to hear about the Warri based passenger. That's very good. I just wanna add that people should be encouraged to ask questions. That's the essence of it all. 1 Like |

Enugu govt approves N2b to reconstruct Milliken Hill Posted by: The Citizen in Governance, Headline 1 day ago Following the recurrent road crashed on the Milliken Hill-Ninth Mile road, the Enugu State Government has approved N2 billion for its reconstruction. The road was a major gateway to Enugu before a bypass was constructed but remains a tourism site. Briefing journalists on the outcome of the states’ executive council meeting in Enugu on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Mr Chuks Ugwoke, said the reconstruction would take care of the gully erosion threatening to cut off some communities in the area. He noted that the contract awarded to CGC Nig. Ltd was expected to last for 18 months. “The New Market-Milliken Hill-Ngwo-Ninth Mile Corner road has been in a deplorable state. Most sections of the road are threatened by gully erosion which may cut off the road and disconnect access to many communities. “It is a very strategic road used as a tourism site. The contract has been awarded to CGC Nig. Ltd at the sum of N2.4 billion,’’ he said. Ugwoke said the council also approved another contract more than N1 billion to Greyline International Ltd for the construction of the 19.5-kilometre Ikedimkpa Affa-Amofia Agu-Oghu road. He said the construction was to ensure the road remained in good condition at all seasons. The commissioner said the government also approved the marking of 17 major roads in the state capital at the sum of N315 million. He listed the roads to include Agbani Road, Edozie-Kenyatta, Nnamdi Azikiwe Avenue, JimNwobodo Avenue, Amechi Road, Savage Crescent and Agric Bank-Ozubulu-PortHarcourt express road. The commissioner said the council also approved the payment of N412 million to the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC) to access its 2013 statutory allocation of UBE matching grant. He said the UBE grant would promote the quality of education and reduce the number of out of school children in the state. Meanwhile, the state government has approved the programme of its 2013 cultural and tourism fiesta holding in December, according to Ugwoke. He said the 11- day festival would comprise symposium, art exhibition, cultural display, masquerade night and fashion show. He listed other events to include praise night, children’s party and road block musical jamboree featuring artistes and the Werraso Band from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The commissioner said the ministry of culture and tourism would partner with corporate bodies to ensure the success of the event. Ugwoke urged the private sector to partner with the government in promoting the cultural potential of the state. 2 Likes |

there it goes again...ROAD BLOCK 2013! the govt is really pursuing tourism. road block as part of enugu annual cultural festival usually exposes enugu up-coming artistes to the big boys in the industry, availing them the opportunity to take their career to next level. concerning the tourism pontentials of milliken hill and nkwo as a whole, I still suggest that a large amusement park be sited there. visitors will start their fun from navigating the curvy roads on the hills. again it'll be a very good development, if ogbete mkt is relocated to new market. keep the good works coming 1 Like |

Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by passion007: 8:28pm On Oct 13, 2013 |
@ centje, cashkid: Why do you think Ogbete should be relocated? It's about the only big market in Enugu. And, 20 years ago, that area was probably the fringes of the city. In 20 years time, development would probably encircle the new Ogbete even if it's moved to 9th Mile. And the solution then would be to move it farther, say to Aguobu-Owa? I believe the city's population is increasing. More markets need to cater to this population. |

The main entrance gate to the on-going Lifestyle and Golf Estate. But jeez.....they aren't half slow with this project! I think the gov't and the South African company building it need to step up their efforts with regards to publicity! You would have thought that given the many high net worth Ndigbo at home and abroad, and given the fact that -with the new int'l airport- real estate portfolios in Enugu are presently flying off the shelf like fresh baked bread; then by now we should have seen a couple of finished high-end properties in the estate.

cashkid18: it is nt only movin it bt demolishin n building a new bigger n more organised ultra modern mkt sum wia in emene.@passion, caskid have explain the idea behind the need to relocate the market...we talking about a an organised modern market, well flourished with road and other facilities. However, moving it to emene may be difficult, cause enugu north will agitate. Ogbete mkt generates huge revenue for the local govt...but if the market is moved to new market its still within enugu north local govt. Yes the prison should also be relocated but thats a federal govt project...with our limited resources, enugu state cant handle that without dedicated commitment from federal level. |
