@ Edicolove,

I wonder who is actually displaying utter ignorance here!!! U mentioned US, am sure you have never been close to any citizen of that country not to talk of being there?

American citizens will not take 10% of the rubbish our leaders are throwing to us here and we are still defending them.

You set up a committee to probe an incident, they gave you a report and you set up another committee to review the report, i hope you know all these committee run at a cost? Do you watch news on international governance?

We are waiting, i wont be surprised if another committee comes after this one. Soon we will be having committee to examine what our president eats.

Exactly, i wonder what work the retardeen does in his office if he cant sit down to read and make informed decisions. he is the C-in-C. damn it. angry angry

245billion naira was initially budgeted for fuel subsidy in 2011 but they end up paying 2.58trillion naira before they stopped temporarily. Now, this Aigboje-led committe has told us that 400billion naira is the missing link! Why did they increase the number of fuel importers in 2011 with no apparent reason to do so? GEJ, your administration has broken too many negative records in a very little time.

Hay stop comparing nigeria systrm of govt with USA the diffrence is clear. How many nigeria politician have been jail here in nigeria apart from in uk
edicolove: NL. The theatre of ignorance. Do you know how many committees the US government sets up weekly to do different stuff? All governments in the world are run by committees. Its not perculiar to Nigeria or GEJ. But, of course, haters and bigots will always have erections once its about GEJ. Lol

People like Demdem are so dumb. Quoting to us from.a capbanking funded report. Pathetic!

gboss4sure: Good one GEj, so by July 13th we will know wad up?.. Am waiting. When people claim that GEJ befitted from the subsidy scam i always ask myself why can someone remove what he is benefiting from knowing fully very well that it will open doors to probe unpon probe. To me GEJ is clean of the subsidy stuff until proved otherwise.

Those that benefited from the subsidy are those that fought tooth and nail to make sure subsidy removal aint removed and some myopic people went ahead to protest now they have seen the truth that subsidy aint good to us.... Had GEJ not remove the fuel subsidy would we have ever known what is going on there..

I pray for the restoration of ur senses, and may your eyes be opened. I wont waste my time educating you on what the government should have done rather than inflicting us with higher price for PMS.

But permit me to just ask you two or three questions here:

How come it was in the election year that subsidy skyrocketed?

If you have headache, do you cut off your head?

And finally, what do you call a farmer who thinks its wise to sell his yam (at cheap price)to someone and then ask his family to patronize the person for their pounded yam(at exorbitant price). Wise/foolish or wicked? Well you are entitled to your own opinion. We know those who paralyzed our refineries for their selfish gains, and they are not far from the corridors of power.

On a final note, am getting tired of coming to nairaland. I can see how gullible most Nigerian youths are ( even though i don't know everybody's age), am getting more afraid for this country's future. While social media is used to enthrone good governance in other part of the world, we are here full of sentiments, and so parochial in our arguments.

One thing am very confident about is that time will tell, whether your man meant well for the majority of Nigerian populace or not, its just a matter of time.

If you were a taxpayer, you wouldn't be happy seeing your government waste a lot of money in setting up countless committees with the same mandate.

its not the presidents fualt that nigerians can not be trusted. After all one widely trusted and acceptable committee ended up introducing capbanking.
So thats what happens wen a people can not be truthful and Godfearing in all their dealings.

We have developed a penchant in this country not to see anything good in govt's actions. Personally, i was surprised that govt wants to set up another committee to re probe what another committtee had probed. But when I read thru the topic, I could not help but agree with the FG that a review committtee was necessary. The essence of probes is to unveil truth not witchunting. Where several people have expressed reservations over the outcome of a probe. The most reasonable thing to do is to offer them another opportunity for a review. It accords with the basic principles of natural justice. That is why litigations in courts do not stop at the trial court. There is always room for appeal. Even in quasi judicial processes like a school disciplinary committees or even football FA's. Decisions are subject to review upon appeal. What has happened in this case is that Govt had set up a committtee headed by AIG IMOUKHEDE of ACCESS BANK to investigate the sector. Upon the submission of the report, President GEJ reiterated his resolve to prosecute all those indicted. This led to an array of protests from those indicted and others who hitherto did not take the comittee seriously. What should a responsible govt do? Shut its doors against such complaints? Or proceed to implementation without reviewing a report allegedly signed by one man? It takes a Hitler president not to give due considerations to the arising appeals. More especially, when the FG wants to take drastic actions against those indicted. Contrary to insinuations portrayed on this forum, I think it's a measure of the President's seriousness to enforce the report that he set out for a review. If he doesn't want to enforce the report, he would have simply given a fine speech commending the committee members for a job well done and consign the report to the dustbin of failed reports. We won't get to be discussing about it by now and it will gradually fade from our consciousness. But this is not so. Judging from the composition of the committee alone, you will acknowledge that the president is serious. The calibre of people there are not people who will sneak to a marketers house at night to do cap banking. I wonder how much you will cough out to bribe the chairman-AIG IMOUKEHEDE OF ACCESS Bank who swims in billions. The membership is all inclusive as every field is represented. It's a far cry from the House probe involving only politicians. They have a mandate to submit the report in less than 2 weeks. So why this noise?

Thanks for the masterpiece. As for the noise, it is simply part of the grand plot to make the country ungovernable and ensure this government fails. The Internet arm of BH, championed by dogs and baboons like Demdem and Lacasa are very much active and earning their every blood dollar! But they will fail woefully as always..

I am beginning to believe the person that said that each time oga Jonah sets up a committee for something, just know that it his own way of say "I have washed my hands of this issue!" and diverting attention and criticsm from himself to the committee.
Let us sha wait and see how far this particular committtee will go and what oga will do about their reports, whether he will use it to prosecute the guilty parties or whether he will use it to set up another committee to look into the report of the present committee

3.ebele set up a committee headed by the same Aig-Aikhoumode to investigate
4.the committee handed over its report
5.the same Aig-Aikhomouede is now asked to head a committee to review the report of a committee he headed
6.the office of the accountant general was indicted in the subsidy report.the same accountant general is part of the committee to review the report in which his office was indicted in.
7.if the report of the first committee was to be reviewed, why should the people who initially put the report together be the ones to review it?
8.ebele benefitted from the subsidy by having enough money to contest the elections.removal of subsidy was never an issue till the minimum wage was increased.then ebele wanted to take the minimum wage back via the backdoor.hence removal of subsidy
9.if ebele was sincere about the subsidy removal issue, why hasnt even 1 of the SURE-P programmes been done?
committees are set up abroad but not in manners such as this.the reason there are ministries is for government to be able to cater for all aspects.it is those ministries or departments that handle specific aspects of governance.if a committee is required,it is usually in cases where different ministries or departments need to interface on specific assignments.a case where a committee is setup like in nigeria,is tantamount to a failure of an organ of government.a situation where an independent committee is set up to investigate a liason that occured between the CBN,ministry of finance,PPPRA,NNPC,DPR etc is a case of the failure of our investigative agencies.the EFCC should ordinarily be able to make this investigation as parts of criminal investigation against the accused.but what do we see,the EFCC(an investigative body) is waiting to act on the report of a committee(a non-investigative body).what sense does that make?in better democracies, the EFCC chairman would have seen that as an indictment of his perceived failures and resign.in another way, this is a perfect eample of GEJ playing basketball with our brains.after this committee which is reviewing the other committee,he's now probably activate EFCC to start investigating based on the reports of that committee.the investigation might last forever.
