Recently, there has been an increase in cars posted on Nairaland with prices that seem too
good to be true. While I personally find some of these prices suspicious, I didn't think
much about them until I read a post by Nnamdi Chidi titled "Yahoo Boys Pls We Dont Need U
Folks On Naira Land"
. Thereafter it became clear that at least one other person shares my
suspicion.

I know we have 3 moderators, but to discourage "Yahoo Boys" from giving us a bad name, we
all have to act as the eyes and ears of the moderators. So if you see anything suspicious
please post it here with a link so others can evaluate it. This includes but not limited to:

1. Prices that are too good to be true
2. Wrong model years (e.g. posting a picture of a 2004 Accord and calling it a 2005 model)
3. Bait and switch (e.g. posting a picture of one car and showing buyer another)
4. Phantom or Fake dealers (this refers to dealers that have absolutely no car to sell)
ETC

Below is Nnamdi Chidi's post quoted verbatim:

Naira landers i hv noticed d influx of yahoo boys in dis auto mat,pls Yahoo boys leave dis medium bc it has assisted alot of pple to procure their dream cars. How can someone post a Toyota Highlander or Honda Accord 2009 model for 1m,pls is it possible.Shine ur eyes pple.

Thanks for your eye-opening post. These kind of posts are supposed to be on frontpage.

Honda Accord 1998 Model Tok For Sale Price 850k
https://www.nairaland.com/989650/honda-accord-1998-model-tok

This is definitely not a 1998 Honda Accord aka Baby Boy. Honda stopped manufacturing the
model in the link above in 1997. So that is a 1997 or earlier model. Poster, amend your title.

Brand New Toyota Camry 2010 For #2.7m
https://www.nairaland.com/994258/brand-new-toyota-camry-2010

There are so many things wrong with this ad:

1. 2010 was 2 years ago. There should be nothing like a brand new 2010 Camry.
2. Assuming the poster is referring to a 2010 Camry in near mint condition, will that
sell for 2.7M? I don't think so.
3. To complete the cognitive dissonance, poster has a picture of a 2008/09 Honda
Accord in his ad for a brand new 2010 Camry.

1999 Toyota Camry - Tiny Light - Registered

MILEAGE: 88,215 This is almost certainly incorrect.

Tokunbo 2001 Toyota Camry Price N1.150m
https://www.nairaland.com/1001763/tokunbo-2001-toyota-camry-price

65k mileage
Again, this is almost certainly incorrect. For an 11 year old
car, actual mileage should be closer to 150K or more.
