Why Do We Pay Bus Fare For Others? by Impulse80(m): 7:05pm On Jul 12, 2012 |
I have observed that in this country, when u are on a bus with someone u know, it has become a tradition for you to pay their T-fare as well as yours. My question is why do we do this? Is it a sign of respect or affluence? Thing is, once u are in a bus with someone u know and u dont do this u feel akward and kind of embarrassed . |

Its not a sign of affluence or respect, Rather it underscores the traditional extended family settings of The average Nigerian family inspite of Western influence. Its not unuaual in most families to see a father, mother, children, Father's & Mother's brother& sisters including grandpa & ma. Your topic is just a fallout of our family system and upbringing, That tends to want to carry everybody along. Though with youngsters of these days I wonder if ego does not play a part. Blessed evening. |

When you are in a bus and see anyone you know about to board same bus, find a way to hide your face, either put your face down or something that way the new entrant won't see you and expect/beg/make you board his or her fare. Btw, would anyone board a bus without having the fare in pocket?stop feeling guilty for the world! |
