@onatisi- Whenever your average hausa man wants to garner cheap support or publicity, he colors it with religion, hence the religious angle. The explosion that occured today was near the express road, not far from the NYSC camp @ Zang Commercial Secondary school Bukuru. We still can't say for sure what the target was. What we know and what we saw was that it was pre-arranged. As soon as it went off, the hausa youth in the area came out fully armed with automatic weapons and began shooting sporadically. Some of the more foolhardy ones amongst them crossed into the buffer zone(so to speak) and attempted to torch the first christian building they saw. It was with great effort that the more reasonable and elderly ones prevented these small boys from causing what would have been a great TRAGEDY. The beroms were on the other side watching the hausas every move. There are weapons awash in Bukuru, on both sides, and this is not safe @ all. But someone is definitely arming those hausa boys, small kids that can't use their discretion. As it is now, the hausas set up a barricade on their end whilst berom youth look on, waiting for the situation to escalate. Meanwhile, your friendly neighbourhood STF showed face and moved on to only-God-knows where. Jos needs to be disarmed. Live reports from Bukuru, Express Way. 2 Likes |

onatisi: something is puzzling here and i will like some clarifications. Where are u from ? are u a nigerian and have being leaving in nigeria ? anyway... plateau state is 85-90% christaianity and now islam . Hausa language is just a common language besides English langa that is used, its like Ibo langa in southeast and yoruba langa, the common langa in southwest. In plateau state ,besides the hausa community(mostly muslems),there are other key and major langa like Berom,Anaguta,jarawa,Miago,Magavul,tarrok,etc.80-95% of these other tribes are christain and not muslim. THe Beroms which have the highest population than any other langa from plateau state have almost 99% christain but when communicating in markeplaces, street, churches ,mosques etc,the commonly used langa is hausa langa(the reason why the hausa community thinks that they are the dornimant tribe). But, ordinary ananlysis by settlement within the state will tell even a stanger that the hausa community are not up to 20% of the whole population and they are fighting a loss battle especially now that it has religious dimension.(their wish of taking over the affairs of the state wil be until they are able to kill the whole christain(85-90 % of the population) in plateau state ). Do u think ,this wil be possible JOS means JESUS OUR SAVIOUR. Even if Nigeria divides, hausa can NEVER claim plateau state . |

10-year-old boy killed in Jos school attack On July 17, 2012 · In News 2:48 pm .. Email0 LAGOS (AFP) – A ten-year-old boy was on Tuesday killed when an assailant fired a heavy weapon at an Islamic school in the city of Jos, an area plagued by sectarian violence, officials and residents said. Witnesses described a man dressed in red firing what appeared to be a rocket launcher at the school in the Bukuru area of Jos. Initial reports had suggested a local government building was the target. “An Islamic school was the target of the attack,” said Pam Ayuba, the spokesman for the governor of Plateau State, where Jos is the capital. Police spokesman Emmanuel Abuh said the assailant fired a “rocket propelled grenade” from the Jero road that runs adjacent to the school. “A 10-year-old boy was hit on the head… and he died,” said Abuh, adding that the attacker fled the scene before he could be apprehended. The victim was said to be a bystander and not enrolled at the school where students were studying for exams when they came under attack, according to locals. A resident of the targeted area said a lone attacker “dressed in red” stood on the street outside the school and fired a heavy weapon. “The missile deflected and hit the wall of the school, killing (the young person),” resident Murtala Abdullahi told AFP. Nurul Islam is a seminary in Jos’s Kerana neighbourhood that combines both secular, Western-style education with an Islamic curriculum. Two weeks ago, a bomb was discovered on its premises which was defused before it exploded, Abdullahi and other residents said. Ayuba charged that the “attack is a deliberate effort to distract the security services.” Tension is high in Plateau state after the military said it planned to launch campaigns to root out gunmen suspected of belonging to a mainly Muslim group of herdsmen accused of killing more than 100 people earlier this month. On July 7, gunmen suspected of belonging to the Fulani tribe stormed mainly Christian villages and killed more than 80 people. Another 22 people, including two senior politicians, were killed the following day in an attack on the funeral of the previous day’s victims. The graveyard raid was also blamed on the Fulani. Mustapha told AFP on Monday that hundreds have reportedly fled from several areas expected to be targeted by the imminent military operations. Fulani pastoralists have long-standing grievances against Plateau state’s mainly Christian leaders, including disputes over land rights and claims of discrimination. Jos has also been attacked several times by the radical Islamist group Boko Haram, responsible for scores of attacks across northern and central Nigeria since the middle of 2009. Aside from inter-communal violence involving the Fulani, Jos has for several years seen sporadic clashes between Muslim and Christian groups, which have left thousands dead. Plateau state is in Nigeria’s so-called “Middle Belt,” on the dividing line between the mainly Christian south and majority Muslim north in Africa’s most populous country. Amid the security crisis, political and security leaders, including Governor Jonah Jang, held a meeting in Jos on Monday. They declared “that Plateau state is under siege” in a statement issued after the talks and said more dialogue between key leaders of both dominant faiths was needed to stem the violence http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/07/10-year-old-boy-killed-in-jos-school-attack/ |

darlpy and jaymonk,u must understand why i am asking these question i can bet you 70%of ppl commenting on this topic dont know the real facts of the issue but right noww tempers are so high that anytime there is problem in the north everyone put it on religion, from what u have told me hausas are mainly muslims in jos but they are in the minority and the beroms are christians they are the majority and the real inhabitants of jos.so which means u cannot fight an hausa man there with coming in conflict with muslims and same goes for the christian ?ok my question is this what is the genesis of all this conflict why al of a sudden neighbours become sworn enemies.what brought about the issue initially? |

Muslims are peaceful people. We do not make trouble. The sooner you all know this, the better it will be for Nigeria. You all should also note that God will ask you all about all these comments you are posting. You will also be asked about your faith. |

tribalism:And we are talking about Shekau here? Are we not? So you really think millions of Muslims consider him a leader? Strange way of thinking A mere reflection on the religious structure of some families will tell you the answer A man whose child has converted to Christianity will accept Shekau (whose antecedents and mental state are unknown) as his leader and join in bombing a church where his child might be worshipping? |

francisj: I am not interested in territorial claims but facts Look at this from wikipedia According to the white paper of the commission of inquiry into the 1994 crisis, Ames, the British administrator during the colonial period said that the original name for Jos was Gwosh which was a village situated at the current site of the city, according to Ames, the Hausa wrongly pronounced Gwosh as Jos and it stuck.[5] Another version was that "Jos" was an acronym of the word "Jasad" meaning Body to distinguish it from the hill tops, it was called "Jas" which was mis-pronounced by the British as "Jos". (An alternative etymology is that "Jos" is an acronym for Jesus Our Savior, established by missionaries.) You should have told us the full story 1 Like |

@Onatisi- I've spent 3 decades in Jos; You cannot wake up after living with someone, and claim ownership of the land BY FORCE. Plateau indigenes aren't asking them out, but they want political power @ all costs. Some of them were born and raised here, they have no other home but you cannot impose yourself on your host community. So they have resorted to unleashing terror on innocent people while crying wolf at the same time when there is retaliation. Hausa-fulani are not the majority else they would have voted in one of theirs by now. |
