I Left a PC to a friend who made a mistake of opening an application WITH windows media centre AS DEFAULT programme; now all my .exe files open with MS WMCentre. I tried MS WindowsFixIt, rebooted every time.. all to no avail____________________________ I once witnessed this happen to a friend; it was adobe reader, but once we uninstalled it, everything went normal- now in this case, I tried to uninstall MS WindowsMedia centre BUT: it is NOT FOUND in 'programmes and features' category of control panel Also under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command default is set to: "%1" %* KAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AM TIRED!!! SOMEBODY HELP!

hmmm, very strange. if all exe's open with media center, can media center itself open? won't that be an endless loop? sorry for not offering a solution, i just think you haven't stumbled on the real problem. have you tried a scan? |

@cripnip you're welcome. Sorry I mean all BUT WMCentre... its strange sha. A scan? Avast went down. Antimalware bytes is also .exe.... am just worried about the great deal of software installed on that scrap. |

I merged my registry with the keys given below: hold down windows key on your keyboard and letter R and a box would come up type in rstrui press enter and follow on screen instr... to select a date before the problem started. |

try this little trick: in a batchfile (say notepad.bat), put start notepad.exe run the batch file and see if it does the same thing as clicking notepad |
