New Call For Entries: ESoDoc - European Social Documentary 2008 Application deadline: March 18, 2008 ZeLIG - School for Documentary, Television and New Media (Bolzano - Italy) is glad to announce the 5th edition of ESoDoc - European Social Documentary. What is ESoDoc: ESoDoc is a “think-tank”. We encourage networking, interaction and peer group evaluation of films in a democratic atmosphere. It is a unique forum to make it easier for you to cross boundaries, find new ways of production, to earn a living from your skills and use video/new media to make films that matter. ESoDoc aims to bridge the gap between making documentary films for TV and Cinema on the one hand and the growing video demands in the field of new media/advocacy video/NGOs on the other. ESoDoc is a training initiative founded by the EU's MEDIA Plus Programme. Who should apply: ESoDoc is the right workshop for documentary film makers, new media professionals and NGO field workers, who want to experiment the new boundaries of audiovisual production. You should be interested in working in developing countries, with citizens activism, to use the media for human rights and environmental protection. What do we offer: ESoDoc has three workshops a year in different EU states where you will explore wholly new terrain. Session one: in the first we bring together professionals and participants from the different worlds, TV, NGO, New Media, video/on-line, participatory video. You will discuss case studies of ‘social action’ documentaries, participatory videos, new media programmes and video advocacy. You will start projects of your own. Session two: In the second workshop we concentrate on craft skills: participatory video, new media, camera, sound, editing and you will develop your individual or team projects under professional guidance. Session three: In the third workshop you will learn the arts of pitching and you will present your project publicly in front of a panel of European commissioning editors.
