Interesting. Thanks.

Lets say i want to switch to the recommended oil which is SAE OW-20 or 5W-20, can i still do it and will there be any side effects?

Changing to recommended oil now is medicine πŸ’Š after Death.......

And it is not cost effective to start with. you will have to drain out and flush out the sludge. And also replace the oil seal of the engine. Depending on how badly sludge up the engine is . It will take time and money. You are better off getting a grade A tokunbo engine. Which again is not cost effective.....

Manage the car like that until you can get a tokunbo car. We learn from our mistakes and move on. This is a learning experience. I learn the hard way and that is how get into the importation of engine oil business..

Alright then! I will just be managing the car with the suggested Total quartz 5000 (20w50).

Thank you!!

Greetings great minds

I drove My Honda Civic manual 02 in a flooded raining water and I was able to park it in my compound but, on the next day I noticed that the car doo enter into gear any longer and the gear handle will be so strong that you can’t select any of the gears.

I have changed the up and down clutch keys but it is still the same thing.

Please experts in this house do suggest possible solutions.

Luckaz
Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

P. S. I bought this car because of the reviews I got here and in other platforms on the reliability/efficiency of this car.

If thermostat is installed and fan is working directly. Will it still affect fuel consumption negatively?

Cos I understand that if ac is put on, fan works permanently

Install your thermostat and reverse your fan back to factory. Flew from any Mechanic that will advise you not to and also monitor your temperature when you do these to ensure your car doesn't overheat.

Thanks so much sir, the mechanic said I should not put it. Exactly what you said and also if I put it and it overheats, what should I do?

Cause I’m considering putting it back

Hi Dru. Well done. I'm not sure you do other brand of oil except Mobil right? Also if you don't drive every day, let's say mostly weekend, city driving. Can you service every 4-6months if you use Synthetic oil?

dru23:

Yes you can still use any of the two.. It is less thicker than the sae40 . And you still be burning more fuel and over working the oil pump...

The only advantage you have is time .. It will give you a little more time before the engine packs up .. And also you still need to change the oil every 3k miles.....

Pic 1.Below is how your engine should look, if you are following owners manual and changing oil frequently

Pic. 2. This is more than likely how your engine might be

Ignore the mechanic and look for another one to install it for you. If your car is still overheating, find the root of the overheating and fix it. And always watch your instrument cluster when driving because your car will run at its optimum temperature.

Funny u mention it . Castrol and Pennzoil oil will be arriving before the end of this month. So be on the look out ........

It seems you pamper your car πŸš— or weekend car . My advice is change the oil every 3months plz don't wait till 6months. Once you using quality brand of oil and full synthetic. You should be ok πŸ‘

To keep it simple - unless you drive a lot of highway miles for every drive with minimal idling, oil change should be done every 5,000 miles or 6 months for modern cars, whichever comes first.. I change my car oil every 6-7months and I mostly drive it on weekends only. I drive less than 1000miles every 6months. Changing your oil every 2-3months is a total waste of money. Some synthetic oil can go as much as 10,000miles for 1year. I have been using Pennzoil for 3years and it's been wonderful. Quiet engine all the time.

Hello Guys I greet una.

I’m in the mid of settling for one of this car.

The 2009/10 Acura TSX V6 with the technology package

Or

2009 Honda civic.

Which of them is a good buy?
These are completely different cars. I don't understand the confusion.
Do you want luxury, comfort, speed and finesse?
Or do you want fuel economy, and low maintenance cost?

Cryomancer:

Acura is more sophisticated in terms of performance, build, components. However this comes with a deep pocket for maintenance and the fact that TSX isn't really too noticeable on the Nigerian roads, the parts are mostly available especially in Lagos but the parts are definitely not scarce.

Civic in the other hand is a mid and common car with parts readily available anywhere you are, it can be described as the Corolla of Honda because of its fuel economy.

Depends on what you look out for in vehicles, if you love performance, balance and aesthetics, then go for the Acura. But if you just need a car to move you from point A to point B, then go for the Civic.

If you decide to settle for Acura, try to get the 2010/2011 version. I advise later years of a new product because most times, new designs of cars released in the first year are prone to recalls for few corrections, and these corrections are always perfected in the later years of production for same vehicles.

In all of this, if you don't have a good maintenance culture and attention to details, please stay away from Honda/Acura vehicles because it will m3ss you up and you might end up joining the group of people who say "Honda vehicles are not reliable"

I hope this helps.

Hello guys. My car runs fine, no check engine light.

But sometime I ago I noticed that the car vibrates during reverse so after cleaning the throttle body it runs well now, the issue was caused by the pipe in the image below spitting small dirty oil into the air flow box, so i had to remove it and cover it with a paper temporarily, is this safe?
When will Nigerians learn that any manipulation on a car that stops it working the way it was meant to work is just a destroying the car. When will you learn this.
Please find out what is wrong with your car and fix it. Stop cutting corners.

My Honda DC battery runs down overnight and refused to start next morning. but if I remove the terminal head it will start the next morning and works well throughout.

Pls what is causing this and what's the solution?

Presently I remove the terminal head every night and the battery works fine.
Find your battery drain.

What was the last job performed on your vehicle before you started experiencing the overnight battery drainage?

New radio? Refurbished central locking unit? Etc an electrical job not performed well is your issue because battery drains don't just start without a catalyst.

And the catalyst is usually any job done with wrong wiring specifications

Good day sir
My Honda accord 06 just started idling at 1500 which is too high, in fact, it’s as high as 2000 when I start it in the morning which was never the case before.
What could be the culprit sir

Check for vacuum leak.
Confirm your IACV and throttle body is still fine.
Check to see if the throttle or cruise control cable is not properly adjusted or hanging somewhere.
Confirm if interior carpet is not partially depressing your throttle pedal

Oga rest and read well, if I wanted to manipulate I wouldn't come here to ask for help. I noticed it was not right and I did that as a temporary solution and if you had read the response before typing you would have hesitated.
