Women still do it today. and in most cases, the dibia will end up sleeping with them during d process of doing d jazz. such marriages consumated in this manner surely produce evil offspring and eventually crashed.

Not everyone is into it for a lasting marriage.

People have differnt priorities.

For some, its about the determination to bear mrs no matter whose ox is gored, for others its to avoid the complications of having a child outside wedlock, for others its to settle scores, for some its about influence or property ( inheritance), etc etc.

Not everybody goes into marriage assuming it will last, it depends on the person's reason for getting married and also their personality.

If they want the marriage to last, then whoever practices such will just keep their babalawo on speed dial, that's all.
