The aspiration of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)National Chairman, Senator Ahmadu Ali, for the chairmanship of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), has received a boost following the support of his candidature by party leaders.

Checks Tuesday revealed that the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja recently was disposed to the candidature of Ali who was said to have possessed the “requisite credentials” to lead the BoT in the new dispensation.

It was also learnt that Ali was said to have possessed the “experience, astuteness, tenacity and leadership qualities to chair the party’s Board.” Media also learnt that the leadership of the party believes that the former senator will deploy his wealth of experience garnered over the years to serve the party in the face of opposition parties’ determination to make in-roads into PDP dominated states in future elections.

The leaders, according to the source, were also said to have argued that he worthy of the position because of his contributions to the development of the party in various ways, claiming that it was during his tenure as PDP chairman that the construction of a new and befitting headquarters for the party began.
