Sorry to digress, but I feel I must add my own two cents to the recent conversation about Dr. F Please let's be merciful to Dr.F. He has done many moms here more good than they come back to report. Many folks will tender his email correspondence to obtain their visas, and then port to another doctor. He is very much aware of this, but for the sake of serving his countrymen, he does not relent in giving people this opportunity. I suspect he did not initiate a transfer to a higher-level hospital for the triplet mom due to cost considerations. Even with his discounted rates, many people still arrive at his office asking for discounts, complaining and lamenting about the cost of childbirth in the US. Some folks wont even tell him they are expecting multiples until they arrive at 36weeks of pregnancy for fear of additional charges. I do agree he should have probably consulted with the mom and explained the situation and cost considerations to her, then allow her to make an informed decision. My advice to the triplets' mom, please don't team up with the supposed nurse to sue Dr.F. Consider the deepening racial divide even between Africans and African-Americans in the US. The court system may all turn around and put the blame on you for some cooked up reasons. Do have a discussion or written letter to Dr. F, and if you feel you must report to some higher authority, the Texas State Board of Physician's might be your best bet. They are in the best position to determine if he has done anything wrong "medically". But i still have this gut feeling that Dr.F was trying to do the most good and no harm in this whole process. iolite88: 19 Likes |

God2big2sure: Please don't do it. If asked by a consular or Poe officer if you've ever been a public charge or received governmental assistance in the USA, you'll have to admit this truthfully and this may jeopardize your future entry. At your visa interview, you made a representation that you are fully capable to afford the cost of your trip for all members of your family who travelled with you including unborn baby, why go back on your word. And moreover these programs are for residents not visitors. Think about it...the cash value of benefits you'll receive during your short stay is probably no more than $500 in total. Abeg ur God who brought you this far is bigger than that. And just like your user name, our God is too big, too sure, more than some $500 troublemaker assistance...just my humble opinion though. 8 Likes |

@kemisolanymat Thank you for sharing and congratulations. Just looked, and it appears Batavia, NY is almost 6 hours drive from New York City itself. I wonder if there is a straight flight from JFK in NY city to Batavia |

staa: If you plan to finally relocate to the US, please have a very clear and concise plan for yourself and family. Consider the best place (Nigeria vs. USA) where you will like to raise your "black" children. Consider that in the US, many of our Nigerian women become breadwinners...not at the fault of their husbands, but at the fault of a social system that provides very little opportunity for the "black male". Consider that you will need very expensive childcare for your children. Consider that you may have to work odd jobs while you further your education to secure better opportunities. Consider the difficulty in having any left-overs from the hard-earned dollar after the ALMIGHTY bills and taxes have been paid. Most importantly, consider how long you will be separated from your husband if you both continue to live apart. Have your husband considered relocating to Nigeria? I could go on and on, but I will save my story for another day and for another thread. 4 Likes |

titila: They offer the same hospital/doctor package as MIHS. If you don't need the accommodation, transportation, nanny and additional concierge services offered, you can get the MIHS package directly. @teeboztb Completely drained wet pap is allowed. It shouldn't go bad during your transit, just remember to add water and place in fridge as soon as you settle in. Lol@Oluwafunkenny who brought in 20kg of pap. I'm sure you found your pap very useful jere:-) :-). At the rate of $5 for a 1kg bag of pap at the Afriq stores, you really saved yourself almost $100! Please o, I hope you are sharing with other preggo and new mums around you. the pap helps a lot during the first week of nursing/lactation. |

fehinebony: Congratulations and Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I must say you are one in a million! Many of us are ashamed to tell others our babies were delivered through C-Section. I am not sure if there is a cultural belief against C-section. I do know some of us are afraid other women will look down on us as lazy, weak, and unable to go through the pains of a normal birth. But the truth is normal delivery or not, it takes grace and strength from above to go through pregnancy and childbirth. For US-bound expectant mothers, please pray for a normal delivery, but always budget for the possibility of a C-section. Your doctor or midwife is there to ensure FIRST your safety and then that of your baby. If you or your baby show any signs of distress, you are immediately offered a C-section, and some doctors may refuse to continue attending your delivery if a C-section is declined. Statistics show more lives are lost to complicated normal/vaginal birth than are lost to C-section. For mothers who must have their babies in Nigeria, please know again that for a complicated birth, the chances for loss of life climb exponentially higher the longer you wait in labor and attempt to deliver vaginally. Under no circumstance should a doctor attempt a vaginal delivery for a breeched baby, insufficiently dilated cervix, or with uterine rupture. Also please use your judgment, learn as much as you can about pregnancy and childbirth, become your own self-advocate, and do not relent in prayers. For mothers who have experienced the more advanced prenatal care and childbirth in the US, please advocate for our mothers who are not as privileged. It is going to take me, you, YES us, to play our part the high-rate of maternal and infant death around us. 21 Likes 1 Share |

ekpotek: You make us proud! Looking out for the best for your family. Congratulations on your growing family, and like someone else mentioned both cities you've chosen have pocket-friendly hospitals and doctors, and with family nearby, I really think God had this all planned for you and for a time like this. Wishing you all the best. 3 Likes |

fola62: We requested same information from HCGH last week. The hospital quote is still 8500 for normal birth with 2 night stay. Our pregnant guest will be using Signature OB/GYN just next to the hospital in Columbia. We have a quote for 3600 for doctor fees for normal birth from signature OB. this is not including anesthesia, labs or ultrasound. |

Happymum: It depends on your budget and mode of transportation. If you will have/rent a car and drive (with an international driver's license), then distance may not be a factor. If not, cab costs can get expensive the farther away from the hospital/doctor/shops. Palm shadows is located closer to the hospital, but I'm not sure if they still enforce their max 2 person/room policy. |

dotfak: I second this option. The U.S. Bank will usually refund your stolen money while they conduct their investigation. Citibank, PNC, and HSBC banks are also good options...they have specialized accounts for non-residents/visitors. With HSBC, you might even be able to open an account online with proper documentation, and if you have a USA mailing address. |
