European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Man Utd To Win Title For Third Consecutive Time! by aalani(m): 3:27pm On Jan 12, 2009 |
The match between Man Utd and Chelsea at old trafford on 11th Jan 09 launched Man Utd desire to claim title three times in a row. For me, I do not think Liverpool pose any challenge to thwart the red devils ambition. I see Man Utd lift the trophy come May 2009. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Hull V Aston Villa Preview On 30th Dec., 2009 by aalani(m): 5:49pm On Dec 30, 2008 |
Aston Villa go in search of a victory that would take them back above Arsenal in the Premier League’s top four, a situation made possible by Knight’s typically clinical strike late on against The Gunners on Boxing Day. I foresee Aston Villa winning tonight. |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Gerrard Released On Bail: Reds Pledge Full Support by aalani(m): 2:08pm On Dec 30, 2008 |
Liverpool are prepared to give their full support to Steven Gerrard in the wake of his assault charge. The Reds skipper was arrested in connection with a brawl at a Southport bar in the early hours of Monday morning. He was then held by police for 24 hours before being released on bail. The England international has been charged, along with two other men, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. Gerrard had been out celebrating with friends after helping Liverpool cement their place at the Premier League summit with a 5-1 mauling of Newcastle. The 28-year-old can, however, rely on the backing of his club throughout this difficult time. Next time, Gerrard should make his choice of beer carefully!!! www.premiershipxray.com/forum

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / 'general' Gerrard Of Liverpool Arrested Over Assault! by aalani(m): 8:29am On Dec 30, 2008 |
England and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has been arrested following an alleged assault in Southport in the early hours of Monday morning. Gerrard was one of six people arrested following an altercation at a Southport bar which left one man needing hospital treatment for a facial injury. But how could a captain of a big team like Liverpool involve himself in a bar brawl? I doubt if he captains his team with good leadership. Perhaps, his success with Liverpool has gotten into his brain. |
Politics / Re: List Of Ministers: Nigeria Is Doomed? by aalani(m): 4:03pm On Dec 29, 2008 |
If you ask me the worst disease that has ever plagued Nigeria, the answer is not far-fetched. The worst plague is "Yar adua government" I mean the most unfortunate thing that has ever happened to Nigeria all through history. From Yar'adua himself, his vice Goodluck, down to the members of his cabinet, tell me who is genuinely interested in the growth and future of Nigeria. They are all bundles of unsound minds! Who is Chief Ojo Madueke? Who is Ufot Ekeatte? Who is Dr Sam Egwu? Tell me what these selfish Nigerians know that other Nigerians do not. They have all served in the failed OBJ administration. So, what new things do they intend to bring to the polity? Are they not satisfied with their loots? A serious revolution must terminate all these unfaithful rebels! Yar'dua is half dead and has no vigor to shoulder the project called Nigeria. It is only in Nigeria a president would be sick and yet refuse to resign. The reminiscence of the eight-year OBJ wasteful administration is still fresh in our memories, and Yar'adua is adding insult to our injury. May God visit all of them with great wrath! www.premiershipxray.com/forum |
Politics / Election Fraud In Ghana Run-off Poll! by aalani(m): 12:09pm On Dec 29, 2008 |
Election monitors in Ghana are investigating claims of fraud as votes in the closely-fought presidential run-off poll continue to be counted. Supporters of Nana Akufo-Addo, of the governing party, and the opposition's John Atta Mills claim the other side committed vote fraud and intimidation. Mr Akufo-Addo narrowly beat his rival in the first round on 7 December but not by enough to avoid the run-off. Both men hope to succeed President John Kufuor, who has served two terms. INEC chairman, Prof Maurice Iwu would be glad to hear this news that election fraud could happen in Ghana, an election that has been rated fair by international communities. Can elections be free of fraud? The case of Nigerian elections is worse than fraud, because most times there are no elections but selections. Anyway, Iwu is a product of fraud and it really manifested in 2007 polls across Nigeria. Ghana is still far better! www.premiershipxray.com/forum |
Politics / Accidental Discharge: Police Officer Kills Five, Injures Others In Ijebu-ode by aalani(m): 9:40am On Dec 29, 2008 |
In a festive mood, precisely on xmas day, a mobile policeman killed about five people, and injured several others in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. While interrogated, he said he never knew his gun was cocked. Incredible! A policeman claimed this stupid ignorance. I wonder if these men are trained at all, and the quality of training they have. So many cases of accidental discharge have terminated so many lives, and the unfortunate still happen. Who knows who will be the next victim. May God save us. www.premiershipxray.com/forum |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Berbatov Voted Best Bulgarian Footballer, Again by aalani(m): 1:33pm On Dec 28, 2008 |
Dimitar Berbatov has been voted best Bulgarian footballer for the third time in a row. The Manchester United player beat Levski Sofia keeper Georgi Petkov and Slavia Sofia midfielder Blagoy Georgiev. Berbatov, who is only 27 years old and has a whole future ahead of him, has now won the trophy five times and moves into joint first place with Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov. So, what is your view? Did Berbatov deserve this honor? To me, he has not been fantastic despite all the noise made about him before he left Tottenham.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Premier League Preview by aalani(m): 5:11pm On Dec 27, 2008 |
Several mouth-watering match-ups are in the offing as the Premier League gears up for a second round of festive fixtures in the space of just 48 hours. Joe Kinnear's Newcastle United, who suffered their first loss in seven outings against Wigan Athletic, host Liverpool in what has proved to be an enthralling clash in the past, as Michael Owen faces his former club while the league leaders aim to continue their hunt for a first league title since 1990. Manchester City manager Mark Hughes then returns to his old stomping ground at Blackburn Rovers in the last of Sunday's games. Hughes, who was in charge at Ewood Park for four years, will be seeking to build on the 5-1 mauling of Hull City when he locks horns with recently appointed Rovers chief Sam Allardyce. Arsenal tackle Portsmouth in one of six 3pm kick-offs, as former Gunners captain Tony Adams returns to North London. Adams has come under pressure of late following three successive losses, while the inconsistent Gunners must address reclaiming fourth place before contemplating a title push. Ricky Sbragia will lead his Sunderland charges for the first time since being named as Roy Keane's permanent successor, when the club head to Goodison Park to face Everton. Sbragia impressed during his short caretaker reign, taking seven points from a possible 12, and was rewarded with the position on Saturday. Luiz Felipe Scolari's second-placed Chelsea got back on track at home on Friday and next make the short trip to West London rivals Fulham . Roy Hodgson has proved to be a huge success at Craven Cottage, with his charges currently unbeaten in the top flight since 1st November, and ruthless in defence. Bottom-of-the-table West Bromwich Albion welcome Harry Redknapp's Tottenham Hotspur, who sit outside of the drop zone on goal difference, to The Hawthorns. The Baggies could aim to seize on their opponents' dip in form, with Spurs without victory in their last three attempts. Stoke City slipped into the relegation places after their late loss against Manchester United and will be eager to rediscover winning ways when they face Gianfrano Zola's West Ham United at Upton Park. The Hammers will go into the game buoyed by an impressive win on the South Coast - their first in five encounters. Two sides in contrasting form do battle at the Reebok Stadium, with Bolton Wanderers suffering defeat in three of their last four fixtures and Wigan Athletic managing four victories in five attempts. Just two points separate the mid-table pair, with a push for a European berth this term a realistic possibility for both. www.premiershipxray.com/forum |
Crime / Ritualists: Fake Policemen Kidnapped 18 Passengers! by aalani(m): 1:47pm On Dec 24, 2008 |
Parents must be praying fervently for their wards at all times. This is a life story and it happened to a colleague of mine. His daughter travelled last Thursday to Ire, Osun from Sango Ota, Ogun State. When the girl got to Ibadan, she called her parents to inform them of her safe trip to Ibadan after which she boarded Osogbo bus. In between Ibadan and Osogbo, something shocking happened. The bus she boarded was diverted into an unknown wilderness by suspected fake policemen who were fully kitted in police regalia! After a while the parents of this girl made a call to her to ascertain if she had arrived her destination. Guess what? The line was off! This spurred the parents agitations. The following day, the girl was able to send her parents sms to alert them of the incident and asked them to be prayerful. Fellow nairalanders, the father who is my company's driver was weeping like a baby. He could not hold the tears slipping off his cheeks. All of us in my office started making contacts, some to their pastors, others to their spiritualists. Just yesterday, as promised by one of the leading men of God, the girl just walked in. The country called Nigeria is an unsafe haven! Here, she narrated her escapades. Their faces were covered with veils as they were being taken to the place of head. That's to deny them any idea or knowledge of the place. She made us know that rich men in the society do come to the place, pay the kidnappers, and get their consignment. This sounds incredible in a country that has laws and constitution, and some of the so-called lawmakers and government officials are also accomplice. Since the homecoming of the girl, we have not stopped praying in case, the kidnappers have tampered with any of her parts. Sadly to note, only two of them were released by the kidnappers while other victims destiny is still in hands of God. How do we identify fake police and genuine police? This is a question we must all answer. Please, if you are traveling long distance and you are flagged down by the police, always look out for some of these: -Check if the patrol van is parked -Check for the officer's name on his front pocket. -At least four policemen must be on patrol. -The policemen on duty must be fully kitted. May God help us. www.premiershipxray.com/forum |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Who Is The Greatest Coach Ever In Premiership? by aalani(m): 9:32am On Dec 24, 2008 |
There are series of leagues in the world, Bundesliga, Seria A, French league, La Liga, Premier League, etc, but who do you think is the greatest coach of all time? To me, I have a lot of respect for Mourinho. This great man brought life to English premier league, and achieved so much within little time( won title back to back for Chelsea). Apart from that, his substitution and formation is superb. Even when the team is not playing good football, the winning attitude is the watchword. Ferguson is also great, but his success with Man Utd came over time. When a coach leaves for another team, he must be consistent, and that is what Mourinho is doing again in Seria A. Who is your greatest coach ever in Premiership? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Man Utd: My Nightmare! by aalani(m): 8:33am On Dec 24, 2008 |
Honestly, my nightmare is Man Utd. I am a Chelsea fan, but I may have a change of mind about my club. Man Utd with two matches in hand may level Chelsea and be one point behind Liverpool. Fans, if Man Utd win league title come May 2009, I shall decamp to another club. I cannot stay with an inconsistent club because they have broken my heart a lot. Having drawn with Westham and Everton, it shows Scolari is a wrong choice of coach for Chelsea. Please, which club do I decamp to? www.premiershipxray.com/forum |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Lampard - Blues Need Plan B by aalani(m): 10:13am On Dec 05, 2008 |
Frank Lampard feels Chelsea need to develop a Plan B when playing against defensive opponents.Last weekend's Premier League defeat by Arsenal at Stamford Bridge saw Chelsea surrender top spot in the table and critics have begun to question the Blues. Luiz Felipe Scolari's side crashed out of the Carling Cup to Burnley in November, while the Brazilian has also seen his men miss two opportunities to progress from the UEFA Champions League group stages following an away defeat by Roma and a draw in Bordeaux. And ahead of a Saturday's domestic trip to Bolton and Tuesday's must-win European clash with CFR Cluj, midfielder Lampard believes he and his team-mates may be required to 'mix things up' in the pursuit of silverware. Failure of Chelsea to secure a win against Bordeaux in France would make them struggle to get a must win against CFR Cluj on Tuesday, this situation would have been avoided anyway. Chelsea must claim at least a title this season, but Champions league title claim is not too sure, I must say. www.premiershipxray.com/forum

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Keane Resigns As Sunderland Boss by aalani(m): 10:08am On Dec 05, 2008 |
Roy Keane has resigned as manager of Sunderland after 27 months in charge. Keane, 37, took over in 2006 but chose to step down with the club lying 18th in the Premier League following five defeats in six matches. First team coach Ricky Sbragia has been placed in temporary charge, assisted by coaches Neil Bailey and Dwight Yorke. Roy deserves huge respect for his contribution and the manner in which he guided the club from the depths of the Championship back to the Premier League. I wish Roy the best of future! www.premiershipxray.com/forum

Sports / Ten Good Reasons To Hate Football Players by aalani(m): 5:31pm On Nov 24, 2008 |
10. Jealousy: Sometimes people hate others because they’re jealous of what they’ve achieved. In football it could be wealth (discussed separately below) or something as simple as having an attractive wife or girlfriend (or in Ronaldo’s case, bedding fabulous bodies around the world). I don’t know him, I don’t even care about his football, but I just don’t like Marcus Bent. Would I swap lives with him right now? That would be quite a Christmas present… 9. Affluence: David Beckham is probably the richest footballer in the world. He’s also hated for how he’s used his career and good looks to make a lot more money than we ever could (this man can buy a football club if he wants). Accumulating wealth is so unholy! While we’re at it, let’s pat ourselves on the back for saving that extra 10 grand last year, it’s going to come in handy if things get worse. 8. Referee Abuse: I can’t stand players abusing referees. What right do they have to scream at them for getting one decision wrong when they themselves miss 5 chances per game? Why don’t we reward referees for getting decisions right? “That new ref at our weekly Saturday game? Total self-servicer.” 7. Rivalry: A fundamental by-product of supporting a football club. Chelsea fans hate Rio Ferdinand, Manchester United fans hate John Terry, and so on. I’d say something funny here, but seriously, what’s there to like about John Terry or Jamie Carragher? Nothing! Exactly! 6. ‘Characters’: There are some players who thrive on being hatred as they love being the center of attention, and then there are some players who make so many mistakes in the public eye that it’s impossible to like them. Take a bow: Ashley Cole and Joey Barton. 5. Arrogance: There’s nothing worse than a footballer who thinks he’s the best, a footballer who’s pride is insulting when coupled with his obvious shortcomings in his ability to get the job done. That boy Ronaldo, his stepovers and his freekicks, perfect example. Of course, the first article of faith for a ‘true’ football fan is to believe his team are invincible going into every game. The second article of faith? Make sure everyone around you knows about your team’s supposed invincibility (it makes the win that much sweeter). 4. Disloyalty / Ungratefulness: Ashley Cole is perhaps the most hated footballer in England, and it’s impossible not to know why. “You know why I don’t work for them anymore? My boss gave me his word, his effin’ word, that he’d pay me as much as Simon from Marketing. And what does he come back with? 500 pounds a month less? Screw that, I don’t need them, I’ve given them all my life and this is what I get? Ungrateful, disloyal bastards…” 3. Sex Ronaldinho’s brothel habits. Ronaldo’s transvestites. Ronaldo’s orgies. “Excuse…me…as I…daydream…ah…about…those…two girls…oh…from…the…office. Yes! Yes!” 2. Greed: Shame on footballers for wanting a raise an year after they got their last one! Shame on them for changing clubs for more money! And while we’re at, let’s celebrate the entrepreneurs who have made fortunes in a short period of time and pat ourselves on the backs for moving to London ‘for the city life but not for the money’. 1. Bending the rules: Oh, we love our football fair and our footballers hard (that sounds gay, but homosexuality has no place in football, remember?). If you’re tackled, don’t get the foul you muppet, get up and fight. Boo the divers, boo the simulators, boo Ronaldo, boo! “Did you know you could declare this as a tax-deductible expense? Let me show you…” www.premiershipxray.com/forum |

Arsenal's turbulent week ended in more misery as Manchester City sent them to a fifth league defeat of the season. The Gunners appeared to be in freefall after skipper William Gallas was dropped for his midweek outburst. Who's a loser, the sacked skipper or Arsenal as a team? Wenger should expect more defeats in the weeks ahead. www.premiershipxray.com/forum |
