soul_glo:Please just stop it. I am didn't see it as an insult. If you have been close to any Warrior you will understand the message I am trying to pass across. Believe me the last thing the OP needs is pity party. In the States many people apply for all sorts of benefits, but I believe only a few Warriors will be applying for disability benefits. You can check out Sickle Cell Warriors page on Facebook, it's US based group (Naija Sickle Cell Warriors got its name from there). NB Yeah I misunderstood him, but please lets mind our choice of words. The OP is still not in a right frame of mind for all this bickering on his thread. |

Wallie:I am not here to argue with you. I am living with SS, and I do not in any way conform to your definition of 'Disability' , visible or non-visible. I equally believe that the OP and other Warriors do not conform to such definition. That is why a SS is quick to tell you that he/she is not looking for your pity. We will prefer you judge us on our own merit. Please. |

Winneygirl: The Op is here crying because the man was able 2 beat her and no one took her side.Anakogheli. isi odikwa gi nma? Anyways na OP and her family. Some of us actually have seen where wild animals in human clothing were succesfully tamed. |

I thought this section is moderated. Is there no MOD any more? Someone is calling out for help, and some very insensitive fuul is trying to add to his miseries. |

Wallie:I know you mean well, but Sickle Cell is not a disability. The OP is whole..... He has two hands and two legs just like you. Thank you. 1 Like |

coogar:This back and forth will not solve anything. Just pray that in your wild imaginations that you don't encouunter people who will return violnce with violence a hundred times over. The story I narrated earlier was a true life story, and I doubt that even those that witnessed the pouring of Hot Boiling Water will ever forget it. And Nobody ever tried laying hands on that particular cousin, ever again. |

deols:LOL, at protective brother. I am not talking about me protecting my sister. My sister will send the man (woman no fit try am) to the emergency ward. |

netotse:even if Op has anger issues, a BIL has no right. Absolutely No Right, to lay his fingers on OP. So if I point a finger at you during arguement you will slap me and beat me, EVEN IN MY OWN HOUSE? Coogar bro, the BIL met a cool headed person. Because some people will actually make sure that either one of them ends up in a hospital bed. I ain't exaggerating. I actually had a cousin that after being beaten up by her uncle (mothers brother), went to the kitchen after everything has calmed down. Boiled water, and poured it on her UNCLE. It's a true story. 1 Like |

deols:The Op made a big mistake. If it were my sister, that guy must surely end up in the hospital. There are no two ways about it. Even in there own house, my BIL or any other person for that matter will not dare lay his or her hands on my sister. And if you must do that, make sure that you do not stay around afterwards. 1 Like |

netotse:Let him slump and die naw. Why will anyone come to my house and lay his or her hand on me? I hate the way people are reacting to this thread. What manner of man, goes to other people's house to beat them up? 3 Likes |

coogar:Coogar, How did she provoke the Bro-In-Law? By asking that he return the book that she borrowed him? Guy, forget story. If that BIL jam person like my sister (or even you) one person go reach heaven that day. As in BIL, come to my own house to beat me up. Chai! na docile people full that family. |

pickabeau1: abali1... long time.. I trust you can help this guy..Many I suffer in silence for fear of discrimination, arousing undue pity, anger (yes, anger. Some are angry with you for always complaining)..... I am here to let people know that my voice cannot be subdued. That I have a right to air my views just as anyone else. That being a Warrior is not a death sentence, rather it is a condition and a condition that was not my fault. So why should I shut up and die in silence. As a human being I have hope and aspirations, I have challenges, I set goals and targets and try to achieve them. Sickle Cell is just a name of a condition, it does not define who I am. It does not stop me from reaching my goals, rather it challenges me to attain those goals. Yes, I am here to let my kind, especially people like this young man to know that there are those who have passed through this stage and come out stronger. 4 Likes |

Slim curtis:Slim Curtis, to be sincere I am only interested in these three things, especially your age. You are 17years old, that means you have fought a battle only few can understand. Congratulations my brother. You are a Warrior. A survivor. Why will you want to give up now? Because you are on the verge of loosing your admission? Becausee mum, lost her job? I know that it's definitely not the pains, because you have been fighting for 17 good years. If it were the pains alone, you would have given up. Pain Free Life Immediately I saw Madam CC's post, I logged in with my Original handle Abali1 and opened this thread. My man Slim, why not read those thread on Sickle Cell. I told those stories for my warriors brothers and sisters. Slim, did you know that I lost my dad I was 17years old, in SS3 few months to my WAEC & JAMB. How did I survive the lost? Brother, the pain you must be experiencing is not just that of the physical pain caused by SS. But even at that, you can reach out to us NL Warriors. We even have a FB page..... Naija Sickle Cell Warriors created by your name sake Deco Slim. Curtis, why not write me a mail at abiaaba4@gmail.com, I can't drop my phone number here but I will get back to you once I read your mail. Let's I forget, I am Igbo as well. Cheer Up, you are not alone. 2 Likes |

www.lindaikeji..com/2013/10/jumia-supports-breast-cancer-foundation.html?m=1 JUMIA , Nigeria’s leading online retailer and this year’s World Retail Award Winner, partners with 234Give to support the International Cancer Month. A substantial percentage of proceedings made during the Pink Week are given to the “Breast Cancer Foundation of Nigeria: BRECAN” Two days ago, our air waves and most bloggers really did well in creating and spreading more awareness about breast cancer. The campaign for awareness is really gathering storm in the media, and I must commend organisations like Jumia for identifying with this campaign for breast cancer awareness. Hmmmmmmm..... But this also got me wishing that people (Organisations) will also get more informed about Sickle Cell Disease and help spread the awareness even if its just a quater of the awareness Cancer is getting, it will really make a huge difference. |
