Hello my people. Good afternoon

Pls I have a question...

I am seeing some instances here where the sponsor transfers the funds into the applicants account.

Is it compulsory for my sponsor (elder brother) to transfer the funds into my account? Can't I just present the Statement of account of my sponsor in my applications?
You can just present the statement of account of your brother, but it is more efficient to have him transfer the money into your account then submit the statement of account . This will help you to build genuine story around the transfer since it will reflect in your account and his at these time. That was what I did couple of years ago and it worked... Ire o

Biko, is this true?

Students must complete 6 months of studies in Canada to invite family or friends.
Applications are typically denied by Canadian officials when students are unable to
prove that they have been registered for 6 months of studies.

Any thoughts??
there is no specified time in months, but you should be able to show that you're a registered full-time international student. you can get a document stating that you're a registered student from the registrar's office (enrolment letter) or departmental office or combine both. But it is advisable to have completed at least a semester so as to show that you have integrity and your grades as well might speak volume for you. There may be a better answer, this is just my suggestion and the information I gathered from people who have really done it and was successful... Ire o

Please does anyone know if USASK accepts part payment for masters program.
well, I think some schools have a way of relieving students on the burden of full payment at ones depending on some criterion. for example, there is an installment tuition payment plan for students who are on scholarship, grants or have a steady source of income. you may be required to provide the evidence of a steady source of income in Canada alongside an application, if the source is verified to be true you will be approved to pay your tuition on installment basis and extend the deadline for you. so you may want to check with the financial accounting administrative section to see if you have such an option... Greetings, my name is Onyekwelu Onyedika from Anambra state. I just received an Email today that my study permit application has been accepted. But truly, I don't know the expression I should be putting on. I have only gone to U.K with my mum but that was for holiday purposes, this will my first time traveling alone and by the way am 17 years old. I don't know where to start if I reach Canada, i don't even know anybody. I think I should start with looking for an accommodation near to my school( university of Winnipeg) but I still don't know how to go about this, the houses am seeing online are pretty expensive and also I don't know about necessary things that are required except the popular ones like winter jacket. I truly need your urgent advice on this. Thanks

You can check kijiji.ca I think there are pretty cheap houses there at the moment... congrats

Finally got time to update the house
Update live from Winnipeg, Manitoba
Started my journey on the 13th, December from murtala international airport, my family members were not allowed to go into the airport with me, so went in myself with two 23kg luggage and a backpack. My luggage wasn't searched, moved to weigh them, wrap them in nylon bag for a thousand naira per bag, collected my boarding pass, later went out to bid my family farewell, it was then that it dawn on my wife that she will be missing me...

At exactly 11:45am, we were called to board our flight (Ethiopian), being the first time of flying was kinda feeling dizzy when the plane took off tongue .

Got to Adis Ababa, join a connecting flight to Toronto that stopped a brief at Dublin to fuel up and change the cabin crew after 6hours of flight. Ethiopian wan kill person with food even though the food was something out of my league. Had a little delay when we landed at Toronto, a plane was still dropping off people at our gate, that made me missed my connecting flight to Winnipeg sad.

Went to clear luggage, the Canadian border service agent were friendly, collected my passport, asked what course I was going for and asked me to sit and wait, after a while he called on me to come pick up my study permit saying I can work on or off campus... cheesy. Got my food stuffs searched... Egusi, grounded pepper, crayfish, garri, beans, smoked fish, semolina... I like food cheesy.

I was put on a stand by for the next flight but booked for the flight leaving for Winnipeg by 11pm, that is I have to stay for like 12hrs... angry, took my time to work around Toronto airport and search for food, nah there I know say I dey oyinbo land, what I saw as rice on bill board when I open am no be rice dey inside, couldn't eat that was how I wasted 18 dollars early morning in Canada.

Finally got a flight at about 8pm, arrived Winnipeg at about 10pm, my pick up was already waiting for me, because I used the free WIFI in Toronto airport to inform him of my delay flight. Stepping out of Winnipeg airport made me realised that my winter jacket nah singlet... Cold here no be jhoke o.

Settling in very well, had my first snow walk yesterday to open an account... Money matter... grin.

The city beautiful, waiting for you guys, there are lots of cool Nigerian guys here, very welcoming and friendly, they try as much to make sure you don't feel home sick... grin, can't wait to start lectures...
That's all the experience... Ire o!

To me the VO was right...Bachelor of education in Maths and Msc Industrial Maths.this two are so related but this other you goin for.hmmmmmm..and now you thinking of Msc Scientific Computing... To save your self. You would have gone for something related to this mathematics thing, just change your course, because if you go with same ,and explain everything on SOP ,am afraid it will still be turned down....

Please I kindly need your help to tackle reasons for refusal of my TRV for my second application . The reason of refusal is purpose of visit. I applied for my gcms note and the visa officer's concern is " After careful review of your application and supporting documents , program of studies does not appear to be consistent previous education and/ or employment . Applicant has limited economic and social ties to home country as well as limited travels which could demonstrate a history of having traveled and return . Based on the evidence provided I am not satisfied that app is a genuine student who intend to complete program of studies and would depart at end of authorize stay. Refused".

I have Bachelor of education in Maths and Msc Industrial Maths. My intended program of studies is Msc Scientific Computing. I am currently a mathematics teacher at a Secondary school. I am 33yr and single.

I kindly need your suggestions. I also need some of the gurus in the house to review my SOP.

Regards.

Well I will say the VO is not an encyclopedia, we shouldn't assume that they know things, we should try to explain things to them.
Trying to relate scientific computing to industrial mathematics, try to break down industrial mathematics into fields : pure mathematics and applied mathematics, then pick any of these fields and explain to the VO that most of the real life problems are modelled into mathematical equations which in most case can't be solved analytically (by manual simplification), hence the need for numerical solutions which is often carried out by softwares designated for the purpose ( you can then state some softwares, high level and low level programming languages: FORTRAN, Q-basic, python, R, SAS, MATLAB, C+, C-sharp... e.t.c). With this a VO who doesn't know before will see the relationship... Mathematics and computer science can't be separated... Ire o

Hello my people,
Many thanks to every contributor here.
My University offered me admission on the 9th Nov for a programme starting 8 Jan, 2018. I have been offered a graduate research assistant fellowship which is valued at 25000 CAD yearly. Although the fellowship grant does not cover my tuition, I plan to authorise my Uni to deduct my tuition from my grant. I have already started my online application, but yet to submit as I have some questions to ask us here:
1. Can the fellowship approval letter alone serve as a proof of sufficient grant to a visa officer or I may have to support this with bank statements
2. Do I stand the chance of getting TRV approval between now and, say December 31, 2017?
3. My upfront medical exam appointment is today. Do I also have to request for an upfront police certificate, or wait for it to be requested from me?
4. Any other advise you may give to facilitate the application process.

Thanks.

Congrats for your admission, you will have to provide additional form of financial support to show that you are financially OK and able to carter for your study without the Research Assistant grant which maybe seen as a job offer, so you don't get refused based on not able to finance your study without working in Canada excuse.

You can get an approval before your resumption date, it seems there are quite few number of application that is been processed at the moment because the rate of approval/denial right now is fast.

My advice, get your police report, and submit with your application, don't make them ask for it.

Other advice, cross every T's and dot every I's , don't give the VO any reason to doubt your intentions... Good luck, Ire o...

Please let's display a reasonable level of maturity, the people clicking like on the controversial comments of @facelessBeing and @ISK9 should please stop it. Don't be party to fueling their discord, causing the forum to derail from its actual purpose, nobody is an island, if you don't agree with any post here, simply discard and go for what you believe, we should learn not to react to every post and if you deem it fit to react at all, simply because you don't agree with it, try as much as possible to make it a constructive criticism and not destructive to the extent of exchanging words. All posts here are merely suggestions which you can either adopt or discard, after all it is your application.
The two above mentioned individuals should please for the love of God let the sleeping dog lie...

To all TRV hopefuls, success in Jesus name... Ire o!
