Politics / Buhari Again Steals Show At Yuguda's Rally by abopal: 9:49am On Mar 16, 2011 |
Buhari steals show at Yuguda’s rally By Armstrong Bakam March 16, 2011 05:18AM print email The presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, Muhammadu Buhari stole the show at the official flag-off campaign of the Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda on Monday. Shortly after his declaration, Mr. Yuguda had told thousands of his supporters who gathered at the campaign rally in Jama’are area to vote for President GoodLuck Jonathan in the general elections, but the entire crowd chanted, “We will vote for Buhari.” According to Mr. Yuguda, who is the North East Zonal Campaign coordinator, GoodLuck/Sambo Campaign Organization, “The South has never failed to support us in the North in various elections. The North owes the South because for the past 50 years they have supported us which led to Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa becoming the First Prime Minister in Nigeria.’’ He continued, ‘’it was this support that also led to the emergence of Shehu Shagari as President of Nigeria. If they have supported us in these ways, why cant we give them this opportunity to also serve? President Goodluck has promised to serve for only one term as president’’ In a bid to convince the crowd to support his cause, he said further that ‘’the President has also promised to build Almajiri schools for the over 9.5 million Almajiris that we have in northern Nigeria as well as other developmental projects and programmes that we will enjoy in the north’’ No to Jonathan But despite his attempts, the people, who were mainly PDP members, chanted, “we don’t want Jonathan, all we want is Baba Buhari. He is the candidate of our choice and we will vote for him alone’’. Speaking earlier on his agenda for the state, Mr. Yuguda said his priority areas in the last four years included education and health said he will not relent in his efforts to deliver dividends of democracy to the people if reelected. He said he will provide more jobs, construct more roads, provide electricity. In his remark, the PDP Deputy National Secretary, Musa Babayo reiterated the support of the national body of the party for Mr. Yuguda’s re-election bid: ‘’I won’t be wrong if I say PDP has already won the coming elections in Bauchi and throughout the country,” he said. “PDP is a party that stands for justice and fairness. That is why we want you to vote for PDP candidates so that they can deliver the dividends of democracy to you,” he added |

The choice of Pst Bakare as the Running mate of Buhari has altered the calculations. But the question remains: What has he added, subtracted, devided or multiplied in the Wind of change Momentum called 'BB2011'? No emotional response please. |

Pro Anti: U LIED BY A LANDSLIDE. U cannot even speak atleast half-truth. A social commentator is not a person who defends the sitting President even if he sits on his dung. I can categorically tell u dat just as majority of Nigerians fought to crown Ebele Acting President, and now we are fighting to replace him with a better Buhari, that is the same way we will fight Buhari if he falls short of our expectations. That is political neutrality. Good governance can never be sacrificed on the unholy altar of political affinity. JONATHAN DISAPPOINTED NIGERIANS ON MANY ISSUES. FOR SENDING A HIGH-POWERED PRESIDENTILA DELEGATION TO WELCOME BODE GEORGE FROM KIRIKIRI, FOR BUYING 3 NEW PRESIDENTIAL JETS THAT COST MORE THAN THE 25 REFURBISHED OUT-DATED TRAINS ORDERED BY YAR'ADUA BUT COMMISIONED BY G.E.J, BY NOT TAKING ANY ACTION ON THE SERIAL KILLINGS AND BOMBINGS ROUND THE COUNTRY, BY CONFESSING ON HIS KNEES BEFROE ROBIN SANDERS THAT HE LACKED LEADERSHIP XPERIENCE, AND MANY MORE SINS. NIGERIA MAY NOT REMAIN IF G.E.J REMAINS GIVEN THE NEW THREAT FROM HIS KINSMEN {MEND} we cant be patient to expect goodluck in exams when we dont prepare for it. |

My Mariory: My brother, dont be decieved, the chunck of those 75 million voters are actually for Buhari. The North-west and South-west combined are more than the rest put together. Most of these flock to Buhari's campaign. GEJ's campaign if full of hired crowds that even Gbenga Daniel his campaign coordinator in the Southwest admitted that he was booed by HIRED CROWD. Check BB's campaign pix, do u see a rented crowd? Do u hear of bombs or police shootings or other evils trailing the PDP? The've colonized the Radio Nigeria and NTA, yet they will know no peace until they loose. |

Jonathan, Sambo ready for debate – Aide News Mar 15, 2011 ABUJA – The Presidency has declared that President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo are fully ready and willing to participate in a televised live debate with the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the other political parties. A statement yesterday by Ima Niboro, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity said: “This clarification comes against the background of insinuations in some quarters that the duo are avoiding a debate with the other candidates. “The Presidency has not accepted any of the invitations to debate which have come so far from a plethora of groups and associations because we believe that this multiplicity of competing platforms detracts from the seriousness, gravity and unified national focus that should normally be associated with presidential debates. “The Presidency is also aware that there is a traditional platform for staging presidential debates in Nigeria under the recognised auspices of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, and that arrangements are underway for a presidential debate on this platform before this year’s election. “President Jonathan and his vice are more than ready to debate on this national platform which has well-established procedures and rules of engagement and look forward to receiving an invitation from the organisers. “It is preposterous to insinuate that the duo are reluctant or afraid of a debate with other presidential candidates as it ought to be obvious that they have no reason to be hesitant about debating any of the candidates being presented by other political parties. “By reason of incumbency, qualifications and long continuous experience in governance at state and national levels, Jonathan and Sambo have a far better grasp and understanding of the nation’s challenges than any of their opponents and are better placed than them to proffer workable solutions to the country’s problems. This will become more apparent to all Nigerians when the debates eventually takes place. This clarification has become necessary to lay to rest the seeming confusion that has attended the matter of the presidential debates.” http://allafrica.com/stories/201103150520.html http://spreadsheettemplates./2011/03/15/were-ready-for-debate-jonathan-sambo-nigerian-tribune/ |

Politics / David 'misadventure' Mark And The Shooting Of Lawrence Onoja by abopal: 7:48am On Mar 10, 2011 |
Gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Benue State, Prof. Steve Ugbah has said the party would not be deterred in its efforts to win the hearts of the Benue people despite attacks on General Lawrence Onoja and others. Onoja who is the Benue South Senatorial candidate of the party was attacked on Tuesday in Otukpo Icho by people alleged to be supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while he was on his way to receive some members of the PDP who defected to the ACN. Onoja who alleged that the shooting was masterminded by the Senate President, David Mark, informed newsmen that he had about two weeks ago alerted the Police to the stockpile of arms in the area by a prominent politician but nothing was done to curtail it. “David Mark cannot intimidate me out of the race. We now have public sympathy because people have come to realize that ACN is the party for progress, peace and justice. My opponent is only a brigadier and not a General. In the army, you are not afraid of a junior officer, so he cannot intimidate me out of the race. Rather it is me who should intimidate him. We are continuing with the race and we are winning.” This allegation came even as Senator David Mark Campaign Organisation described Onoja as a pathological liar, comparing his cries to the ranting of a drowning personality who is already facing political liquidation. The organisation insisted that Mark was a peaceful person who would never plan an attack on Onoja. Speaking through its Director, Media and Publicity, Chief Elijah Adakole, the campaign organization maintained that Mark had won several elections without firing a shot at anybody, adding that that was why he was carrying his campaigns to the doorsteps of the electorate to sell himself and his plans to the people of the Benue South. Onoja, who was also an ACN senatorial candidate, stated that immediately it happened, he reported the matter to the Commissioner of Police, the state Director of the State Security Services (SSS) as well as the Inspector General of Police. He said the security agencies were already doing well and urged them to do more to safeguard the lives of the people. Onoja also called on President Goodluck Jonathan and security agencies in the country to preach, convince and educate other political parties especially the PDP to tolerate the opposition ahead of the forthcoming polls. Warning that politicians should not arm youths to kill to win elections, Onoja stressed, “you do not impose yourself on people through the use of arms. He appealed to INEC to make sure that arrangement for elections in Agatu and Okpokwu Local Government Areas were well monitored to prevent rigging during the elections. While urging the Idoma people to remain calm and focused as peace was gradually returning to the zone, Onoja maintained that the ACN was up to the task and sure of victory to win as it would no longer allow the PDP to rig itself to power. Ugbah who visited Onoja in his Otukpo residence in company with his running mate, Alhaji Usman Abubakar and Senator Joseph Akaagerger vowed that the party would not be intimidated by shooting, maiming and even killing of some of its loyalists but would continue until victory was achieved for the party. “You can shoot, maim or even kill us but we will not stop until we effect changes in the lives of the people. That is what democracy is all about. We must practice democracy the way it is done in civilized societies.” When contacted for comments, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Mohammed could not be reached as his phone rang severally without response. However, the Area Commander of the Police in Otukpo, Mohammed Lawal who confirmed the attack diclosed stated that one other person was injured. He disclosed that a car was badly damaged but no arrest had been made at the time of filing the report. while investigation was still ongoing. |

Become-Rich, don't ever think in this world that you can become rich via politics or Governance. Except u loot, You don't need to become a President to make impact or money. In sane world, Presidents develop gray hairs few months in office, here, Governors and Presidents become Fairer and more robust (Alao-Akala and Obj/Gej respectively). On a serious note, there are so many people who still deceive themselves that they are 'bankers' when they are just ordinary bank employees. Such people will sacrifice a N40,000 job in a consulting firm where they can master their professions for a paper-value N90,000 that after deductions will be N50,000 or less. THen after 3-4 years, counting other people's money, they forget the basics of their own field for which they spent 5 years or more. Then suddenly, they are sacked with no specialist skills to fall back on except debts and a flabouyant lifestyle too costly to maintain. Thanks God i turned down the afribank temptation some years back. I love u all. |
