Politics / General John Togo Attacked 3 Oil Facilities, Warn Northern Leaders Over Gej by abuc: 10:25am On Dec 19, 2010
Delta bombed again
•3 oil facilities affected
•Militant leader warns IBB
From Femi Folaranmi, Yenagoa
Sunday, December 19, 2010

The Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) has advanced reasons why it carried out the bombing of three oil facilities in Delta state.

Led by John Togo, the group explained that the bombings were carried out to protest the refusal of the Federal Government to convene a post-amnesty conference of aggrieved militants and afford the NDLF the opportunity to go into negotiation.

The spokesman of NDLF, Capt Mark Anthony in a statement said the three attacks carried out on Friday from the Israel Barracks with the aid of DCP/GPRS wireless bombing remote operation within a space of 53 minutes affected Alero flow station, Abiteye flow station and Dibi oil field respectively, belonging to AGIP and Chevron multinationals company.

It said its leadership has been frustrated in its efforts to surrender, adding that if the government is sincere in its desire to enthrone peace in the region that it should order the withdrawal of troops from Ayakoromor community. NDLF warned that the bombing of the three oil facilities is a warning signal as it has planted bombs across oil facilities ready for detonation within the next one month.

While pledging total support for the political ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan, it cautioned Northern leaders on their utterances, stressing that the group would ensure they get a disastrous reaction if anything happens to Jonathan.

The statement reads in part: “NDLF effort to come out from the creeks and surrender arms was thwarted with federal troops barricading all routes and we cannot come through the lion’s mouth in the name of surrendering to risk our lives. So, if government is sincere for a dialogue, it should withdraw the soldiers around Ayakoromor and environs and NDLF will faithfully comply with its earlier promises of disarmament for peace to reign.

Our current plight of suffering in the swampy creeks of Niger Delta was caused by people like IBB and other northern politicians whose bad leadership is trailing the Niger Delta communities with bloods on the rivers as the only reward to the Niger Delta communities, instead of development.

Nobody should use our current violent posture as against President Goodluck Jonathan as he was not the cause of our plight and it is not directed to him. But our fight is against the fraudulent Nigerian government for a better change of the lives and communities of the oil bearing communities in Niger Delta”, the group said of our dear State.”

Romance / Dating Test - How Romantic You Are? by abuc: 5:42pm On Dec 17, 2010
Most of the people on the dating scene are looking for great partners. Someone who will fulfill the vacuum in their life and heart. Someone very smart, intelligent and loving. In the age of competition it is not easy unless you show innovative approach. Don't take me wrong. I am not asking you to create a drama or anything of that type, but creating mood that will get you your heart's desire.

How romantic are you? Have you tested yourself on that? Let me ask you a simple question. Does a rainbow look romantic to you? What does a butterfly make you think of? What happens when you walk on the fallen flowers in a garden? Does watching sunset make you think of a poetry? Do you read poetry? Do you enjoy it? Have you ever stared at the eyes of anyone of opposite gender without uttering a word for a minute? If you have done any of these , you are a romantic at heart. You will win the game.

Most of us believe that dating means expensive dinners, visiting theatres, watching movie and so on. You can never create romance at any of these places. For making your partner feel romantic and passionate, you have to go to a location where nature dances with joy. You have to feel part of that nature and enjoy the love that nature gives without asking anything in return. Sing a small poem to your date and you make your day.

It's only idiots that will to their call for violence. Atiku will run to Dubai and ibb to wherever he feels save

They are calling for WAR as if na Yam weh dey de shop

johndoe200:

They are abusing the fact that GEJ is a democrat and doesn't want to seem harsh. Otherwise that statement alone should have kept Atiku in custody for the next few months.

I think in all sense of respect, GEJ is a little bit weak. My brother, you can't keep on behaving like a Gentle man when some people are claiming they are above the laws of the land. In as much that i would not want GEJ to become like Abacha or other African Dictators, He should act like a President of the most populous Nation in the whole world. Most Time, I'm surprise some people talk to GEJ as if he's their Houseboy, He's a president for God sake. GEJ must rise up and show these guys that he has Liver but he's only maintaining peace.

One Icon i love so much (The Person of Chinua Achebe) said during when GEJ was Acting President that (GEJ has no Liver). Infact, i think about that word for several weeks. Someone like Chinua Achebe is not known to talk much, but when he talks; he's highly respected. As time goes on, My Humble GEJ is proving Chinua Achebe right.

Pls GEJ enough is enough. Don't allow these guys to be Intimidating you and you are just silent. Prove the power of Incumbent to them, PERIOD,
Politics / Atiku And Ibb Are Scared Of Gej by abuc: 1:08pm On Dec 16, 2010
Definitely, it’s obvious that ATIKU and IBB are actually scared of GEJ. Infact, their Instinct has told them Jonathan Sambo will definitely win the PDP primaries and they will be probably be the next Nigeria President.

For God Sake, Atiku claims he has one of the most organize Campaign structure in the country, why are they still insisting on zoning and are threatening to cause another civil war if PDP jettison zoning. PDP has decided everybody including GEJ has the constitutional right to contest. And if they believe they can beat GEJ at the primaries with their consensus arrangement, why are they still issuing threat? Why did they resolve on Northern Consensus Candidate, Is it not to beat GEJ hands down at PDP primaries? Or are they now realizing they don’t have the support needed to beat Jonathan Sambo at the primaries?

Let me use this opportunity to tell all the Northern Elders to stop issuing threat of WAR. Nobody is afraid of war. If they think they are still in 1967 when both South West and South South supported them to conquer the South East, then they should better rethink. If a little region like the Igbo’s at that time could held this country for 3 years; now imagine when they want to fight against all the southern states. Even the Middle Belt will never support them. THEY SHOULD STOP CALLING FOR WAR. Only one Atomic Bomb will sink the whole of NORTH,

IF THE WAR BEGIN, I HOPE THEY WILL NOT RUN FROM THIS COUNTRY!!

Let peace Rain, but if they need WAR; then the whole of Nigeria is ready.

Stop this campaign of calumny. If Nigeria was a serious country all these Men would have been in security custody to explain what they meant with that statement.

Actually I'm No longer taking this as a Joke, though i did at first. With each cable coming out,
there's always tension. Now i just read on BBC website on how US monitors 'aggressive' China in Africa.
Here is the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-11955516 What will China be thinking when
they read that.

When they release their cable originating from Abuja about GEJ, all the Anti-GEJ where here accusing
GEJ of inexperience. Now they have release another cable pertaining to Yar'uda, Wife
and Aondoakaa, i wonder what Atiku Campaign Organization will say tomorrow.

The fact is that they have not started releasing the main cables. For Goodness sake, they have 251,287
cables and they have only release 1,269. While The one's originating from Nigeria is over 4,000. Just few cables has been
release and there's a whole lot of tension in the AIR. You may not know, then follow Up on CNN and BBC website.
Just read the Comment of Site Visitors from all part of the World. At least most of us are Believing these cables are
authentic. No one knows what other cables may be.

Meanwhile i know for sure Nigeria may be throw into a state of disarray if Wikileaks releases more cables Originating from
Nigeria. There's already Tension in our great Country and Now this whistle-Blowing Site wants to add to it. The way the whole
thing is Going, the world just need to be careful because majority of people are really believing these cables from wikileaks.
And when the next Wikileaks cables will start releasing the name of those politicians in Niger Delta sponsoring Militants and Some deep
Plans by the Elders of the Northern Part of Nigeria, then most of you will remember this post. This is not the best time for Nigeria,
Wikileaks should not add to it. I'm no more enjoying It. Most of you will understand with Time.

Please I'm appealing to WIKILEAKS to stop Releasing these Cables. I understand their Goal is "Freedom Of Speech" But this kind of freedom
is obviously Dangerous to the safety of the World. Most countries may have disagreement with each other because of these cables.

WIKILEAKS; ABEG MAKE UNA SEIZE FIRE. THANX FOR D ONE'S UNA DON RELEASE. UNA DON TRY,

Don't also forget there have been series of CYBER WAR going around. First there was DDOS attack on the official website of Wikileaksv(wikileaks.org).

Politics / Within The Internet Lies Africa’s Clay Of Wisdom- By Philip Emeagwali by abuc: 11:36am On Nov 13, 2010
According to history books, gun-wielding European slave traders kidnapped one in five Africans and transported them across the oceans to the Americans. A less visible, but no means less drastic technological tool of suppression, is the compass, a device used worldwide for navigation. In the same way that Britain used its maritime knowledge and the US harnessed its intellectual capital to rule the world, the early slave traders used the simple compass to wreak havoc on civilization.
It is a sad fact that the innocuous navigation tool originated during and was fuelled by the Atlantic slave trade. The technological development of the innocent compass, invented in China for religious divination 2,000 years ago, allowed Africa to be ravaged in unspeakable ways.

It was the compass that created the Atlantic slave trade, enabling the early colonial navigators — and their blood merchants — to chart an accurate course from Gorée Island, off the coast of Senegal, to Brazil; paving the way for the trans-Atlantic slave trade, which began on August 8, 1444. This trade in human merchandise covered four continents and lasted four centuries, and serves as a shameful beacon for the depravity of human greed and conquest.
The compass became the de facto weapon of mass destruction, which led to the de-capitalization and decapitation of Africa. It created the African Diaspora with one in five people taken out of the motherland. It was the largest and most brutal displacement of human beings in human history.

Today, it is hard to imagine that such destruction and the wholesale abduction of a race could result from a tool as common as the compass. Yet, as a people who survived the slave trade, we must draw our strength from lessons learned from the past and draw our energy from the power of the future. And the power of the future lies in “controlling” technology and harnessing it for the benefit of mankind, not for his destruction.

The people of Africa must take note that the Internet is our modern-day compass, and within it resides our own clay of wisdom. As we prepare for our great journey into the cyberspace of the future, with its technological promise — its clay of wisdom — we must understand the strategic value and potential of this all-important tool. Our image of the future inspires the present and the present serves to create the future.

Africa’s lack of substantial technological knowledge of the Internet and its potential may lead it to be assaulted or manipulated in unexpected ways, just as it was devastated generations ago for the lack of a simple compass. We didn’t recognize the power of the compass then; the danger is that we don’t recognize the power of technology today. While Africa merely contemplates the future, the West, the quickest off the mark to wield technology’s weapons, actually makes the future.
This fact, and how the power of technology can be wielded against the poor, was brought home to me clearly when I received the following email recently: “About a year ago, I hired a developer in Africa to do my job.

I am paying him $12,000 a year to do my job, for which I am paid $67,000 a year,” the sender wrote. “He’s happy to have the work and I’m happy that I have to work only 90 minutes a day. Now I’m considering getting a second job and doing the same thing.”

Technology in the hands of others has been used to exploit Africa for centuries. But now it's time for Africa to grasp technology and finally embrace the modern age’s clay of wisdom and advancement. Africa has the chance to show the world how technology can be used for good, not evil. And the people of Africa can use today’s technology, not to mimic their own exploitation, but to right the wrongs of the past and empower themselves with the same tool that has been used to oppress them in the past. Africa can provide a shining example for the world in using technology for its own uplift and the benefit of mankind.
This time, it is our choice.

Politics / Wanted Bomber Is In S’africa, Says Okah by abuc: 6:16pm On Nov 05, 2010
From Moses Jolayemi in Johannesburg, 11.04.2010

The suspected mastermind of the October 1 bombings, Chima Orlu, is currently in South Africa, militant leader Henry Okah said yesterday.

Okah, who was arrested in Johannesburg on October 2 and is being held on terror charges in connection with the bombings, made the allegation in an affidavit submitted in court at his bail hearing. He will now know his fate on the bail application Tuesday next week.

Shortly after the bombings, the Nigeria police declared two persons wanted, naming them as Orlu and Ben Jessy.
But Okah said police misidentified Orlu, alleging that he knew the man as “Justin Malcolm Umejesi”.
He said he provided accommodation for Umejesi in Johannesburg after they became friends, alleging that Umejesi took advantage of his (Okah’s) hospitality to spy on him for Nigeria.

"I have an interesting history with this person," Okah said in the affidavit.
He said after he caught Umejesi taking photographs of people at his house, he determined Umejesi was reporting to the Nigerian consulate in South Africa.

Okah said he ended their friendship in April 2007, and that Umejesi did not deny spying when confronted.
Azuka, the wife of Okah, told The Associated Press (AP) that she recognised the picture of one of the alleged masterminds in a Nigerian newspaper and originally pointed it out to her husband.

The Nigerian police said they had no information about Orlu using another name or living in South Africa, AP reported.
At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Okah’s lawyer, Rudi Krause, assured the court that Okah would not jump bail as the state alleged, insisting that Okah had no connections with the October 1 bombings.

He said that Okah was already in the process of applying for political asylum in South Africa even though he had a permanent residence permit in South Africa.

According to him, the prosecution had only made allegations against Okah but failed to back the allegations with evidence.
Speaking with THISDAY, Krause said he was certain the state had not submitted any material evidence against Okah because it actually had none.

“It is inconceivable that the state would have concrete evidence against Okah and not present them,” he said.
He said if the state had them, they should have confronted Okah with them during cross examination.

Krause narrated how on September 30, policemen raided the home of Okah in Johannesburg and arrested him on the allegation that he was connected with an impending terrorist attack on Nigeria.

He said he was released when they could not establish a case against him, only to re-arrest him on October 2, the day after the bomb blasts.

Krause said Okah’s wife, Azuka, had heard state counsel Shaun Abrahams speaking to someone on phone to “just give him something”, suggesting that the evidence did not exist.

He denied Okah instructed the alleged bombers to detonate the bombs or buy the cars used in the operation.
Krause told the magistrate that Okah was only being persecuted because of his refusal to support the 2011 presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that the government wanted to keep him in jail till the end of the elections next year for fear he would foil the ambition of the president.

He maintained that he was facing trial for turning down overtures by the Jonathan to support his ambition.
He urged the court to decide that Okah’s arrest and detention are illegal and to grant him bail.

Krause also told the court that he only received mirror copies of hard drive of Okah’s computer and phone memories at the court contrary to the order of the court.

However, in opposing the bail application, Abrahams said Okah was a flight risk as even his permanent residence permit was faulty.

He said the home affairs department was in the process of looking into the issue administratively.
The counsel said Okah would be tried at the High Court in South Africa unless the Nigerian government requested for his extradition.

Also speaking briefly with THISDAY after intense pressure, Abrahams said his position was that if let loose, Okah was capable of causing further havoc, insisting that the case against Okah was a very strong one classified as “schedule 6”.
THISDAY checks revealed that Schedule 6 is a high ranking offence that is not bailable.
Abrahams said with the case on ground he was sure Okah would be convicted.
He said Okah was applying for asylum because he knew his papers were not in order.

Abrahams said considering Okah’s medical condition which was one of the grounds for his bail application, the court could place him in police custody and medical facilities would be made available to him at a hospital close to where his family resides.
Investigation into the matter would take six to nine months to complete, he said, urging the court not to grant him bail.

Abrahams explained that Okah’s counsel got the copies of hard drive and phone memories on Thursday because the Cybercrime unit said they had technical problems.
Magistrate Louw summoned two officers of the unit to explain the problem and they gave conflicting reasons.
While one said a power outage led to the delay, the other said it was a problem with the system.

Louw said the fact that one of the witnesses did not attribute it to power failure meant there were two versions.
He directed the state to open a case of perjury against the two and also report the matter to the South African Police Services.
Louw also frowned on the testimony by the officers that they made copies from an earlier copy they had made rather than from the originals, saying they failed to comply with his order.

He ruled that the state caused unreasonable delay in the matter by not complying with his order.
Louw had ruled that the mirror copies be provided the defence three working days from when an empty drive provided by the defence for the copying was made available to the Cybercrime forensic unit.

The Cybercrime unit said they received the empty hard drive on October 27 after lunch and began the process on October 28.
The officers said a power problem on October 30 led to the operation being restarted only to end yesterday morning around 8 o’clock.

Krause said he would not need to apply for a copy of the original again as he wanted the bail application of his client resolved quickly.

After seven hours of arguments by both counsel, Louw openly declared that the case was very difficult for him to decide.
He said while he would not be happy to continue detaining Okah, he had a duty by law to strike a balance between the submissions of the prosecution and those of the defence.

One major cause of his confusion, Louw said, was that while Okah said he was not the leader of Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), his wife had written that her husband was the group’s leader.

Rather than give judgment yesterday as he had planned, Louw said he needed time to ruminate over the submissions and reserved verdict for November 9, adding that if that day is not feasible, the ruling would be made in the next day.
The smiles on Okah’s face disappeared as he was asked to head back to cell while his wife broke down in tears.

Politics / 2011 Election: Turai Backs Jonathan•shuns Senator Over Ibb by abuc: 12:23pm On Oct 16, 2010
Despite the seeming acrimonious relationship that existed between them while she held sway as the nation’s First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, indications are that she has pitched tent with President Goodluck Jonathan in the contest for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Findings by our reporter showed that Turai, who was not favourably disposed to Jonathan, the then vice president, taking over the mantle of leadership following the sickness of the late President Umar Yar’Adua, is now taking on politicians from the state opposed to the Jonathan project.
For instance, a senator from her state, Katsina, Kanti Bello, the deputy director of the IBB Campaign Organisation, is now being avoided by the ex-president’s wife.
As a result of the development, the senator no longer goes to see the former first lady on account of what he perceives as a deliberate attempt by the ex-first lady to avoid him.
Recently, matters came to a head when the Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, also declared the senator a persona non grata of sort by withdrawing a car he had earlier given the senator.
This again has pitted the senator against the governor.
Observers say what is happening among these top politicians in the state may prove to be a long war of attrition.
The governor, a known acolyte of the president even while former President Yar’Adua was alive, is said to be uncomfortable with the senator’s closeness with IBB.
The withdrawal of the car, sources close to the senator said, pained the senator to no end, for which the lawmaker has vowed to exact his own pound of flesh by working against the president and Shema come 2011.
Initially, Bello enjoyed sympathy from the former first lady, especially given his vitriolic against Dora Akunyili, Minister of Information.
But as matter stands, Turai has been giving the senator a wide berth of late.
The reason adduced for this, said friends of the former first lady, has to do with a realistic appraisal of her condition and her family by Turai.
“She knows that her interest will be better served with Jonathan in power. The reason is simple. Northern politicians never saw her husband as the choice of the North, but rather, they saw the late president as an imposition on them by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The former president was still alive when they made it known to him that they only wanted him to serve one term so that the North could make their own choice for the second term,” said our source.
Secondly, Muhammadu Buhari, former military Head of State and a leading candidate from the North under the banner of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, may not be a ready choice for her to pitch tent with.
While alive, Umaru Yar’Adua proved a formidable foe for the former military ruler in 2003 and 2007, where he checkmated Buhari from getting the bulk of Katsina vote.
Also, Katsina indigenes readily recall an incident that propelled Sayyadi Abba Ruma to limelight and reckoning with Yar’Adua.
The former Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources was said to have publicly accosted Buhari during the former military leader’s campaign tour of Katsina.
Though Ruma was said to have been attacked physically by irate followers of Buhari, the incident was said to have endeared Ruma to the heart of the late president.
Given this history, analysts say that Turai may not want to work with Buhari.
Also given the pecking order, other aspirants in the PDP appear not to stand much chance. Abubakar Atiku still has the bogey of former President Obasanjo to fight off.
Aliyu Gusau and Bukola Saraki appear as paper weights in the scheme of things, say sources close to the former first lady.
But with Jonathan’s humility coupled with his pronouncement on his declaration day in Abuja that he was running a joint ticket with his former boss and was committed to the late president’s programmes and vision, the former first lady is said to have been won over to Jonathan’s camp, it was gathered.
Also, an indication that Turai may hold no grudge against the president, say our source, is seen in how Muritala Yar’Adua, a nephew to the late president emerged as a minister in Jonathan’s cabinet.
As first lady, Turai was said to have stepped on toes, especially given the many allegations that she was the de facto president while her husband was ill.
Rather than turn her over to the wolves, Jonathan shielded her and the entire family from harm.

Politics / Believe In Nigeria-gej by abuc: 5:28pm On Oct 15, 2010
For a while now I have been talking on the theme of changing our attitude to Nigeria. I remember that on this page I took you down memory lane and x-rayed some of the challenges we have faced in the last fifty years. I remember that I did say to you that if we want a different and better result for the next fifty years we have to do some things differently. In my opinion, the most important is this-as we enter into the next fifty years of our national existence, all of us, both the leaders and the led have to move from being onlookers to being stake holders in the Nigerian project. I have thought hard and long about this and I believe that we can only make this paradigm shift if we all and especially the leaders at all levels begin to assess our social services in Nigeria.

As a leader, if you fly only foreign airlines, assess medical services at foreign hospitals, school your kids at foreign schools and dress up in foreign fabric tailored after foreign designs how then can you truly be a stakeholder in Nigeria?

Let me illustrate further, participation is the key to commitment and we all know that where your heart is there your focus will be. Being that the case, how committed can a leader be to improving the health care sector in Nigeria if he never patronises Nigerian hospitals? How can he be a stake holder if he does not know where the shoe pinches in that sector? The answer is that he cannot. Likewise, how can a leader be committed to fixing Nigeria's schools if he is not willing to school his own children in Nigeria. Your own children are your greatest assets and I believe that if Nigerian leaders dedicate to school their kids in Nigeria (especially where course of study exist in Nigeria), their attitudes to the Nigerian education sector will change because they want the best for their children and since their children are in the system they will therefore want the best for the system.

Let me give an illustration to show that if it is possible in this one small area it is possible in every other area. Personally, I like to dress up in clothes that depict our cultures. This habit has forced me to be interested in what happens in the textile industry. Now because I am interested in the textile industry, I opened up myself to the workers unions in that industry as well as the officials in the ministry of Industry and the ministry of Commerce and was told in graphic details of the problems of that industry which can be narrowed down to dearth of capital. As a result of this knowledge, the government came up with a plan to provide capital for the resuscitation of the textile industry (mostly situated in Kaduna) and today much of the 150 billion Naira that government budgeted for that purpose has reached the end users and the industry is bouncing back. But it all began because I was a stake holder in that industry by reason of my love for every thing Nigerian.

Moreover, I have a heightened interest in Nigeria's education sector for the simple reason that I school and have always schooled my kids in Nigeria. How for instance can you trust me or any leader for that matter to revive the Nigerian educational sector when I or any other leader will not school his or her own child in Nigeria! Do you now see my point?

So my dear facebook friends and fellow Nigerians, after thinking long and hard on this issue, I have made a commitment that if you the good people of Nigeria will work with me, I make a pledge to lead by example and continue and even reinvigorate my personal practise of not only assessing my social services in Nigeria, but encouraging by example other leaders to follow suit.

And yes, there may be exceptional cases where it will be necessary for us as leaders and followers to assess some services abroad more so as the world is now a global village (e.g. where there is an urgent medical need that cannot at the time being be met locally, but in such cases we must recognize that gap in knowledge and make provision for closing it as soon as possible) but this should be the exception and not the rule. If leaders want Nigerians to believe in Nigeria, they have to first believe in Nigeria and their belief will run down the pyramid to the led.

At this juncture, let me use this opportunity to pay tribute to Nigerians who have in their private enterprises contributed to Nigeria's economic growth by providing us a viable alternative to foreign goods and proving that brand Nigeria is not only viable but is to be preferred. Let me mention Otunba Mike Adenuga and the Glo brand, let me also mention Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the Dangote Brand as well as the Arumemi-Ikhide's and the Arik Air brand which has done Nigeria proud of recent. In the agricultural sector, I salute former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his Obasanjo Farms as well as Admiral Murtala Nyako and his Admiral Farms. In the education sector I salute Bishop David Oyedepo of Covenant University, Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the American University of Nigeria and Very Rev. Fr. E.M.P. Edeh of Madonna University. I also salute Leo Stan Ekeh - Founder and CEO of Zinox Technologies who has put Nigeria's name on the map in the area of IT services. In Architecture, I salute Former Vice President Alex Ekwueme of Ekwueme and Associates, who is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and who founded the first indigenous architectural firm in Nigeria and Vice President Namadi Sambo, himself an architect of great renown. These are just a few of the many Nigerians who have shown that what the West can do a Nigerian can do and in many cases do better. Dear friends and fellow Nigerians, do join me and celebrate brand Nigeria as we make it a habit to believe in Nigeria now and tomorrow. God bless Nigeria. GEJ

That means Alhaji Asari Dokubo has been right all this while when he claimed that the guy who granted interview
with Aljezeera was Okah Younger brother. Dokubo is an intellectual anyway. No wonder the conflic between Him
and Okah when Okah discovered that this Asari is famous and intelligent than him. Dokubo has been shouting out
loud for over 2 years now that Okah is a criminal who have taste for unmerited wealth. Infact, that's the main reason
why he hate him with passion. I think the federal government should appoint Asari To be a member of our intelligent unit
because he's more INTELLIGENT than most of them over there. PERIOD,

Lol. Na d same people!

Infact i was surprise when i saw this guy post. Why can't him just respect himself and make that post on business
section or computer and internet. Is a tropical example of those who want to make money with bulk sms as quick
as possible. I will also advice him to use facebook ad for that purpose.

It pisses me off when such thing occur. He also does it to other thread.Like"Appeal Court Declares Fayemi As Ekiti State Governor". I think he targets any thread that has the possiblity of making it to the homepage and he quickly eply to the post in order to have free traffic to his website.
But come to think of it, is there no moderator in the "Politics" Section? All this type of post shouldn't have been allowed
to stick longer before they will delete it. Now people are assuming I'm the same person.

Pls, we are 2 different people. The guy is just too desperate to make money with his amateur bulk sms biz. I just came across that article as i was browsing through CNN site and think it will interest my fellow Nairalanders.
Politics / Goodluck Jonathan: The Facebook President---cnn by abuc: 11:52am On Oct 15, 2010
CNN) -- At over 246,000 and counting, he has more Facebook fans than the combined tally of British Prime Minister David Cameron, German chancellor Angela Merkel, and South African head of state Jacob Zuma.

Since Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria's president, created his profile in June of this year, rarely a day goes by without a fresh update -- which appear to be written by Jonathan himself -- concerning recent news events, government policy and, of course, the coming elections.
He also seized public momentum and stole a march on his rivals by choosing the hugely popular social networking site to announce his standing for the forthcoming presidential elections in 2011.

"I Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by the grace of God hereby offer myself and my services to the Nigerian people as a candidate for the office of President" read his Facebook status on September 15, ending a long period of speculation about the likelihood of his candidacy.
"This is the first time in our country that Facebook has ever made the headlines of a national newspaper," Chude Jideonwo, founding member of influential Nigerian activist site Enough is Enough, told CNN.

Video: No violence from Nigerian power bid
Jideonwo notes that the surprise announcement was made at precisely the same time that one of Jonathan's main presidential rivals, former military ruler Ibrahim Babangida, put his own election hat into the ring.

"Many people believe this was a strategic move to overshadow Babangida's announcement -- and if it was, frankly, it worked," said Jideonwo.
But the Nigerian president's Facebook activity appears to go beyond headline-grabbing stunts. In one fairly typical instance, he addresses a Facebook user who has made a suggestion for meeting Nigeria's growing energy demands:
"Again I spent time reading your comments and yesterday a youth named Toyin Dawodu indicated that he had an idea for a project that could deliver 4,000 MWs of electricity , Toyin, someone from my office will make contact with you regarding your idea. I know I can not attend to every comment or suggestion due to time constraints, but please do know that I read them and they influence my actions."

It's this direct and personal form of interaction that seems to be endearing the Nigerian president to his country's growing young and web-savvy electorate.
Each new post from Jonathan attracts thousands of comments and some have garnered in excess of 6,000 responses.
"What distinguishes Jonathan from other politicians is that he seems to have genuinely embraced Facebook," explained Jideonwo. "You can consistently hear his voice in the posts and it feels like he is really trying to communicate with the voters -- this is what makes him so popular."
With a population of over 150 million, Nigeria has just fewer than 44 million internet users, according to internetworldstats.com, and of these 1.7 million are on Facebook.

While this represents Africa's biggest internet market, as well as the continent's largest Facebook user base -- the numbers make up only a small proportion of the overall electorate.
Is it too soon then for social media platforms to play a meaningful role in Nigerian politics?
"What you have to bear in mind is that there is a critical minority of opinion leaders on Facebook -- local business CEOs, young activists, and university graduates," Ken Banks, founder of kiwanja.net, an information technology site that provides support for NGOs, told CNN.
The president's high profile on the world's biggest social network has not, however, escaped criticism. In a post that made international headlines, Jonathan claimed that a decision to reverse his proposed two-year suspension of the Nigerian football team following their early exit in the 2010 World Cup Finals was prompted by a wave of opposition from his Facebook followers.

But, as Nigerian journalist Tolu Ogunlesi told CNN: "The fact is his hand was forced by FIFA regulations preventing political interference with the national football team. His comments on Facebook were really just to protect his image."

For some, this is a worrying reflection of the incumbent president's use of social media to, perhaps cynically, bolster his election hopes.
"It's obvious that this is a calculated attempt to win the heart and minds of Nigerians who are active on Facebook, in a bid to secure electoral victory," Nigerian Internet entrepreneur, Oluniyi Ajao, wrote in a recent post on his popular blog.

Similar criticisms have been voiced by a number of the Facebook users Jonathan is attempting to engage: "We are tired of rhetoric, what we need is action," wrote one commentator in response to a post concerning Nigeria's frequent power shortages.

But, for the time being -- at least as far as Facebook is concerned -- any disparaging remarks are drowned out by a bellowing chorus of support.
"Whatever his motives," Jideonwo concluded, "the president has opened up a new channel of popular involvement in Nigerian politics, encouraging young people to feel like they have a voice. This can only be a good thing."

Politics / Re: Aljazeera Is Looking Suspicious To Me! by abuc: 1:24pm On Oct 08, 2010
I just made this analysis yesterday and by today, we are hearing news of how the Aljazeera
interview was faked. We are also hearing the news of how the same Aljazeera was claiming
that Yar'uda was Hale and healthy, that he's even climbing 13 story building.

I'm always grateful because we have intelligent people in this forum that foresee things even
though it's obvious they will be bombarded by people with Religious, Ethnic and political motive.
But despite all these things, we will keep on saying the truth.

Long live Nairaland, Long live the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
Politics / Re: Aljazeera Is Looking Suspicious To Me! by abuc: 5:06pm On Oct 07, 2010
@bermuda1, Thank you very much for your last post. Lets just share views and not
condemn one another all the time. Common, we are one Nigeria; let stop speaking as if we live
in four countries. Now you are making this analysis more interesting.

Most time's I'm amuse when people reply to post here with Political, Ethnic and Religious motive.
This will never get us anywhere. This is Bomb Issue and Lives where lost. Imagine if your love one

in their country. Certain things are too dangerous to play politics with.

So in all my analysis, all you can observe was "conspiracy theories" and how I'm reading too much of James Hardley chase and lastly
your recommendation of John Grisham. Anyway, every man here is entitle to his/her views. Welcome on board.

Care-Taker:

Good write up bro., good analysis, welcome to the train.

Al-jazeera and their islamic partrners in Nigeria,
and whoever they might have influenced and used in the southern Nigeria
are the group responsible for the act. And this is serious as generals and some high chiefs will have some
knots to untie for us.
dappssee:

Good thinking

Thank God some people are already observing this with me. The latest news reaching us now is that it was
Henry Okah who called Aljazeera. for goodness sake, was there no other News Agencies he would have called?
Since we knew Henry Okah, Have him ever granted an interview with Aljazeera?

Day by day, the truth is unveiling itself. He claimed the President has no support from his home country, Now can
him tell us who and who is not supporting The president from Niger Delta? Let him just name one Niger Delta Leader
who's not supporting the President.

Listen to me my good people, the only reason Henry Okah is behaving like this is simply because he was sideline by the
government. He was expecting GEJ to be sending millions to him monthly as royalty, since that is not working; he's doing
everything possible to BLACKMAIL Mr President. OR

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Politics / Aljazeera Is Looking Suspicious To Me! by abuc: 2:33pm On Oct 07, 2010
Hi Nairalanders i know i will be bombarded by people, but i must analyze what I've been seeing
since the bomb blast on our independence day. I'm not use to making post because I've lot of things
on my sleeve. Just take a loot at my analysis;

Just 48 hours before the Bomb blast, Aljazeera visited the purported MEND camp
.

Okay.

Within 24 hours of the Bomb Blast, they contacted the former MEND leader in detention

Now look at HENRY OKAH claim's.

On Saturday morning, just a day after the attack, a very close associate of President Jonathan called me and explained to me that there had been a bombing in Nigeria and that President Jonathan wanted me to reach out to the group, Mend, and get them to retract the earlier statement they had issued claiming the attacks.

They wanted to blame the attacks on northerners who are trying to fight against him [Jonathan] to come back as president and if this was done, I was not going to have any problems with the South African government. I declined to do this and few hours later I was arrested. It was based on their belief that I was going to do that that President Jonathan issued a statement claiming that MEND didn't carry out the attack because they were expecting a kind of retraction from the group

They don't want it to seem as if Jonathan does not have the support of his people, you understand? For months now they have been lying to everybody that everybody is so pleased with Jonathan, that he is going to bring peace to the region which is entirely false.

This attack now was actually going to be a great smear on his aspiration. They just needed the group to retract that statement which was why I was contacted. But I declined to make any such move.

The only fact I'm missing is the exact time Aljazeera called henry okah and the exact time President Jonathan made the statement. But think about this, How can GEJ make such a statement when they are not sure Henry Okay will call the group to retract their earlier claim. Take a proper look at henry statement
It was based on their belief that I was going to do that that President Jonathan issued a statement claiming that MEND didn't carry out the attack because they were expecting a kind of retraction from the group

Please I'm not observing this with any political or religious or even ethnic motive. I've been following all these reports with keen interest because this was almost how kinpnaping started and it's now in a worse case. So i don't want Nigeria to turn to Afghanistan or Iraq. The bomb victim would have been anyone or family associate. please remove all political and ethnic motive from your mindset and let us observe all these happenings.

So now, why should GEJ take the risk of exonerating MEND of the attack when Henry Okah decline their offer? Are we forgetting that the FBI and UK intelligence Unit reported of this attack earlier? Do we know what the FBI would have submitted to the presidency? Do you know that the FBI did not Indict MEND with their report?
Now; How come Aljazeera has this keen interest on Nigeria for the past 7 days? I'm smelling a Fish here. GEJ has just told us on his facebook wall that security agencies will do everything possible to fish out the perpetrators. We Nigerians are curiously waiting.

Romance / How To Seduce A Woman Who Plays Hard To Get With You by abuc: 5:57pm On Jul 28, 2010
When a woman plays hard to get, it can play mind illusions on a guy. Sometimes you think that, without question, she is totally into you. And then, there are other times when it seems like she is purposely trying to avoid you or act coy and aloof. It can make a guy go crazy just trying to figure a woman out when she is doing this.

Playing hard to get is something that most women are pretty good at, so it's wise to learn how to seduce a woman that plays hard to get. The one drawback is, you kind of have to be sure that she IS playing hard to get with you, because if she REALLY is not interested in you at all, a lot of time and effort can be wasted.

Here's how to seduce a woman who plays hard to get with you:

1. Act coy and aloof yourself. Hey, sometimes it is wise to fight fire with fire. If you get all unraveled and you come undone because she is playing hard to get, it's going to be a tough sell to make a woman want you. Instead, when you act coy and aloof with her, then she is naturally going to let down her little game a little to try and win you back.

2. Show her that alpha male confidence that drives her wild. Confident men are more likely to get the woman that they want, plain and simple. Seriously, all you have to do is to walk into a club and see which guys are actually getting somewhere with a woman, and you will see that they are all acting pretty confident. When she is playing hard to get with you, a part of her IS testing your confidence.

3. Tease her and pull AWAY from her. If she is really acting like she is hard to get, then you want to turn up the teasing a little bit. Build up enough sparks and sexual attraction so that you KNOW you have her right where you want her, and then find a reason to pull away from her. This will usually snap the hard to get routine and next thing you know, she will be moving TOWARDS you.
