Health / The Shock Of Seeing A Maggot Come Out Of Your Body by Achieverxoxo: 12:56am On Aug 06
I recently visited a rural village, surrounded by lush greenery and teeming with wildlife. The trip was enlightening, but I returned with some unexpected souvenirs - insect bites. Among them was a peculiar bite that would change my understanding of traditional remedies.

The bite, which I later learned was from an Eka (jigger flea), resembled a maggot-like insect burrowing into my skin. The itching was intense, and I sought relief from local healers. They introduced me to red oil, a natural remedy that would force the Eka out.

Applying Red Oil

I applied the red oil to the affected area, and within minutes, the Eka began to emerge. It was a tiny, flea-like insect with a distinctive body. I was amazed by the effectiveness of this traditional remedy.

What is Eka (Jigger Flea)?

Eka, also known as the jigger flea (Tunga penetrans), is a parasitic insect that burrows into human skin, causing discomfort and infection. Its botanical name is Tunga penetrans, and it belongs to the family Hectopsyllidae.

Traditional Remedy - Red Oil

Red oil, extracted from palm nuts, is a natural remedy used to repel Eka. Its potency attracts the insect, forcing it out of the skin. This traditional method has been used for centuries, offering a non-toxic and effective solution.

Other Information

When a Jigger flea (Tunga penetrans) bites and burrows into the skin, the person may experience several symptoms, including:

1. Severe itching and discomfort at the bite site
2. Redness and swelling around the bite area
3. A small, raised bump or blister, often with a central black dot (the flea's abdomen)
4. Pain or tenderness when pressure is applied to the bite area
5. Inflammation, which can lead to secondary infections if left untreated
6. Swollen lymph nodes in severe cases
7. Fever or chills in rare cases

If the flea is not removed, it can lead to more severe complications, such as:

1. Abscesses or pus-filled sores
2. Cellulitis (bacterial skin infection)
3. Lymphangitis (inflammation of the lymphatic vessels)
4. Tetanus or other bacterial infections

It's essential to remove the flea promptly and properly to prevent these complications. Applying red oil or other substances can help coax the flea out of the skin, and then it can be carefully removed with tweezers or a needle. Keeping the area clean and applying topical antibiotics can help prevent infection. If you suspect a Jigger flea infestation, consult a healthcare professional for proper treatment.

I'm grateful for the unexpected encounter with Eka, which led me to discover the power of red oil and traditional remedies. This experience has broadened my understanding of natural solutions and their effectiveness in combating parasitic insects.

Let me know if you have experience it too !
